Why you should clean your PC regularly

Post by Tiffany »

If you don't it'll end up like mine.

Holy crap. I'm running an optimized defrag which is much faster than a normal one, and its eta is another 6 hours. o_o

No wonder my laptop is a piece-a crap.

I would download JKDefrag instead, its a much quicker program, and its really easy to use, and also, you can set it as your screen saver :)

Ah I went with Smart Defrag because it's part of a program I have called Advanced SystemCare. I use it to free up my RAM, and it speeds up games too.

Once I finish DLing Morrowind I'll test it with that...

I wouldn't bother using any programs to free up ram, I would just uninstall useless VRAM easting software and clean your system properly!!!

I only use 2 things to clean my PC, ccleaner, defrag (very rarely too)
And the knowledge that too much software running at one time slows your PC. When i start XP I have at most 22 processes

Defragging causes your had drive usage to increase ALOT therefore shortening it's life.

And your downloading Morrowind eh? Im a game developer and i never download games, if your gonna go so much enjoyment out of imo, the best longest lived game. Then you could at least pay for it.

EDIT: And plus im sure it's against forums rules to post about any illegal activites

She could be on about getting the game off Steam, you know.

I'm totally computer-illiterate, so I have no real idea about processes etc. I have 2GB RAM which normally drops to about 600, but with the Smart RAM part of Advanced SystemCare it optimizes it to around 950~1000, so it definitely works for me, especially since I don't know what processes I can close without something breaking.

At this moment I have 83 processes...>.>

And meh. I don't even know if the game will run on my computer, so I don't want to pay for something I can't use. Plus when I played it on the Xbox I was bored brainless, so I'm not sure as to whether I'll even use it much. But people seem to think I'd be a good modder, and it'd be something constructive for me to do, so it's like whatever.

WOW 83 processes :P, that's a shitload!

Well if i were you i would go to www.ccleaner.com, download that and install it, make sure you untick "install yahoo browser" :P

And start uninstalling programs you don't use, and then run a clean with it, then clean the registry using it too.

Forget that other software you use, unless you wanna buy some new ram soon, RAM optimizers=RAM killers :P

Meh this laptop is old anyway. I've had to send it to HP to be fixed twice because the motherboard died. Both times they replaced it. First time, two weeks after being replaced it busted again. -.- Twats.

I'll use CCleaner in a sec, I have been told of it before but never got around to installing it. :(

I also need to solve the problem my laptop has with Rapidshare/Megaupload, in that it refuses to download from them. >.>

Maybe that could be related to the settings of your browser or antivirus.

You know what's also popular? Enormous flying cities and ridable dragons. Maybe TR should invest in navigable ships and underwater cities.

I dunno. I haven't changed any settings, but I'm unable to do anything with them. They download, but only like 12kb, and then say it's finished. It only happens on my laptop despire the fact my desktop has the same settings.

I've tried that. It's sort of annoying though as the only ethernet I have is like 2 metres long. I like to be in bed when I use my computer. But my housemate's is downstairs, so I can't move the router.

I downloaded some kind of "download manager" and I'm gonna test that out and see if it helps.
