yep, there are some serious proportion issues going on there. the style is also not consistent with morrowind (too many thin outlines). i personally would go with a more classic pose, perhaps something like this, or even this. or maybe a classic venus de medici pose, perhaps modified from concealing to showing off her motherly goods.
i would like to sugest what may be a radical proposal: have one person do the finished vectors. anyone can submit designs and sketches, but if 3 people do 3 images they will doubtlessly look different from each other, which would be weird. notice how all egyptian frescos or greek statues looked stylistically the same, i think that sort of homogeneity is what we should be shooting for.

I don't see a reason to enforce this in advance. I suggest we see what people come up with, then apply any modifications if needed. As long as people pay close attention to these images, we don't have to resort to something like that.Lady Nerevar wrote: i would like to sugest what may be a radical proposal: have one person do the finished vectors. anyone can submit designs and sketches, but if 3 people do 3 images they will doubtlessly look different from each other, which would be weird. notice how all egyptian frescos or greek statues looked stylistically the same, i think that sort of homogeneity is what we should be shooting for.
@Brianbusby: The vector art still looks almost exactly the same as your original sketch, so my comments remain the same. The proportions are still off, and you haven't worked on her face. I also suggest you look closely at the images I linked to, and try to replicate the style. You will notice that in none of these images a solid body is marked by a single thin line, like you've done with Almalexia's body.

Damn I thought I fixed the proportion issues but looking back on it I still guess no. Myzel-sorry I didnt fix your problems (although I tried proportionally) inkscape fails on my computer so I have to use Drawplus SE and I'm just getting used to it so I did it directly from the sketch for an outline, now I'll try working on it, although it may be beyond that if the pose is wrong. Whatever, someone else should probably do a concept of this, I don't think mines going to cut it.

The anticipation of Sotha Sil (again). I have no idea what she's pointing at.

Relentlessly perfect. Looks like the work of the original artists themselves. Perhaps the Moon and Star could be made to fit in more stylistically? But really, could not be better.

Since I'm relatively new here, I'm sure my opinion won't count for much, but I definitely agree with Lady N here. Since Myzel's already done two of the frescoes and they both have the same type of look and feel to them, why would somebody else do the one for Amalexia and have a completely different look to them? Instead, Myzel should take someone else's idea (such as brianbusby's) and do it to the other two frescoe's level and type of art. On a side note, those two frescoes for Vivec and Sotha look really cool!Lady Nerevar wrote:i would like to sugest what may be a radical proposal: have one person do the finished vectors. anyone can submit designs and sketches, but if 3 people do 3 images they will doubtlessly look different from each other, which would be weird. notice how all egyptian frescos or greek statues looked stylistically the same, i think that sort of homogeneity is what we should be shooting for.
You'll see, I'll show you, that these, uh, civilized people? They'll eat each other. You see, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve.

Okay, so I fixed everything (I think) the hair is supposed to be fire-like but if it doesn't seem that way I can work on it. I only haven't fixed the pose or added Boethiah because I want to get the style down (which is to be more like Myzel's work so they all appear similar...):

Nah, I'm afraid I agree with the others, it'd be best for one artist to do all of them.
By all means provide a rough sketch of a whole fresco to provide inspiration, but don't spend ages working on something you intend to be used alongisde Myzel's other frescoes.

That looks much better. I like the details you've put in. But BC is right in that it doesn't look the same as the ones I made. Maybe you could try and put boethiah in there, and then I could do my own thing with it in inkscape.brianbusby wrote:Okay, so I fixed everything (I think) the hair is supposed to be fire-like but if it doesn't seem that way I can work on it. Ok, as expected, I worked some on that fresco, but between modeling the Necrom temple and doing fifteen other things, I probably won't have enough time to do it.Myzel wrote:I like how you manage to associate so much concept art with sexual themes. Very Freudian of you.gro-Dhal wrote:I thought that was some sort of gimpy gasmask
I figure that it would be more worthwile at this point to have someone else do it, both for stylistic coherence and for speed. I attached a picture of my work so far to this post.
So far, it only contains the outline of Almalexia and the outline of the head of Boethiah whispering into her ear. The idea was that Boethiah's left hand would be resting (somewhat patronizingly) on Almalexia's arm, while his other hand would either be cupped by her ear or holding her head closer on the other side.

That made me laugh.Chin Music wrote:I apologise for this in advance.
Ada, I like the idea. My only fear is that the two bodies might look like a single mass of black shapes as soon as B is filled up. But I'm sure there is some way to avoid that.
I guess 'someone' means me.I figure that it would be more worthwile at this point to have someone else do it, both for stylistic coherence and for speed.
If you want I'll take both of your ideas (Ada and Brian) as they are and toy with them a little, see what works. Knowing me, however, something completely different will roll out in the end.
I'll be pretty busy myself the coming weeks. I don't think there's that much haste to it, even if it is 'super urgent priority'. So far, we've been working pretty fast on this one already!

I've been working on Almalexia, and this is what I have so far. I'm hoping I can turn B's head so that it looks more like he's talking to her. For the rest, I need feedback.

My only thing is that I miss Boethia`s hefty Gladstonian sideburns from his Morrowind statue, but that`s not really an issue. (Though I do love dem sideburns )
Almalexia`s flame hair could maybe be a bit larger for drama, a la the fresco, but yeah, really good stuff.

Nice job, I like it. However, I hate to put it this way, but I think you should alter Ayem's face a little bit. I just cannot help but think of it as looking rather anime. Perhaps add some hair behind her neck too.
A good approach, I think, would be to use fewer angles, using more rough, straight lines, to give it more of that original dunmer style. In Lutemoth's version, you'll notice there's hardly even a line that suggests a curve and the overall amount of shapes is also lower.

I suppose it looks 'anime' because of the eyes. I'll take another look at it.Adanorcil wrote:Nice job, I like it. Lutemoth's approach, however, is only one of several. If you look at the vanilla stuff you'll see that there are also images consisting of a massive amount of shapes. It's a matter of personal taste I suppose. I can go about straightening curves, but that won't change anything about the look of the image.
