Could you clarify how Ratagos "shows up as linked"?
To my knowledge, in the journal the player can view all topics alphabetically (this would have 'Ratagos' coming after 'rat') or view quests by quest title. In neither scenario is Ratagos 'linked' to rat.
Do you mean people from the one quest have dialogue from the other?
You'll need to elaborate if we're to fix this.

NPC: Trena Teltereneth
Topic: Ansuma Veloth
I'm not sure what to do with this, exactly...it's a quest error, but there is seemingly no topic for reporting quest errors with Map 2. But here it is anyway.
Cell: Boethian Mountains Region 30, 3
Type: Quest error
Location: Shrine of Solitude
Error: Does not accept a noble sedge flower like it should; the script was found to check for a horn lily bulb instead.

Hello, I'm not 100% certain this a bug/glitch thing, but certainly seems to be.
Quest: Fighters Guild: Find Mashug gro-Dugal
Problem: Inside Nassudan, after stepping on the rug to find out about the trap, I just tell Mashug to follow me, I go through and the magic door shuts behind me, leaving Mashug inside, but as I leave Nassudan a Journal entry pops up, with Mashug thanking me for getting out and he is standing next to me outside.
Is this really supposed to be that simple? How can he get out if the magic door is still shut?

There's this farm, right. And whenever I enter the cell where this farm is, 3 message boxes pop up all at once and tell me I've cured all these sick Alit or whatever. I haven't done that though. So I go to the farm mentioned in the quest and the only guy in the house says "you're that guy? oh well my method was better" and force quits the dialogue. And those boxes happen every time I enter the cell.

I added a similar error with Mashug Gro-Dugal always thinking we are free when we weren't. This quest may actually cause a problem for TR. I think that the magically shut door is too close to the main door exit, because if Mashug is following you, as you exit he will exit with you because of the proximity of the doors to each other. Whether he is stuck inside the magic door or not, and thus you magically completed the quest. Hope you understand what I'm saying.LichKing wrote:Hello, I'm not 100% certain this a bug/glitch thing, but certainly seems to be.

Hap, your error is mentioned by Cathartis over in Internal Testing and Downloads (for Mainland). It should be an easy fix, but it'd be great if you could get me a specific quote from the journal entry (and that guy's conversations - which probably also shouldn't be happening). Cheers.
Night and Lich, thanks for finally clarifying this error that has bugged us for a long time. I can fix this now, no problem.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to replicate it and get more info next time I load up the game.

quest error
NPC- cant remember name, but the guy on road from helnim through the mountains (northward)
Location- mountains north-northwest of helnim, near an ancestral tomb
Error- couldnt finish quest even though i tried placing the "offerings" in/on/near both ash pits
I am sorry this is not more descriptive, i literally just read the error reporting thread and remembered this error. I will be changinging the appropriate game files so that i can document it properly.

quest error
Thank you for the reply. I actually just had to load an old save, which happened to be right outside said ancestral tomb, and figured it out by myself lol. I then immediately saved, exited and came here to post that i realized you had to actually "select" the ash pit.
Been playing Morrowind a lot lately, due to essentially a lack of internet. While playing through Telvanni quests, I got to the very first "test a pocket realm" quest for Archmagister Dral. Once the test was over, I was transported back to the regular plane, but not to Dral's room (which I should have been transported too, I'm assuming... he talked to me and gave me a weapon as a reward). Instead I was transported to cell 0,0 in the Ashlands, at a very high altitude (another thing that makes me think I was supposed to be teleported back to Dral's room, since it's very high up). I do believe this is a bug.

Hey guys, I got a strange error for you
After walking through Aranyon pass I came upon the cave settlement Sarvanni. When I approached it I got a journal update saying "I have healed all the Alit that had been harassing the Alendu plantation. I had better report back to Relie" I have however done no such thing.
I also kept on getting the "Your Journal has been updated" messagebox, over and over while in the cell.
(This error was from the TR_Mainland file, by the way)

Thanks for that Yeti.
For reference, the error is with scripts "TR_m1_q_IC_4_AlitGroupLeader" and "TR_m1_q_IC_4_AlitGroup". I think that in both, the block starting "if ( GetHealth == 30 )" needs to be moved inside the "if ( GetJournalIndex, TR_m1_IC_4 == 10 )" clause.

Errors/Comments
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to do so, but these are some of the errors I have found... I have the .txt file available as well, but I'm not sure what the rules on attaching things are. Some of them may be more like my comments than errors, but in either case, they may help, I hope. =]

I'm not sure if it's a bug, but when I did manage to travel to the mainland, I found an abandoned camp, northwest of Firewatch, looked into a box, and found some guys silver plate. Then my journal was updated telling me that the bandits were no longer around and I should return the plate to the guy. I think it could sorta be rewritten a bit, or something, cause reading the entry, I had no idea who the guy was, and I found it a bit silly to find his plate, and the journal tells me who it belongs to. Well, I mean, I know the plate has the guys name on it, but still, instead of "I've found such and such's plate, I should return it to him" I think it should be like, "I've found a rather ornate plate, probably stolen, perhaps I should ask around in nearby towns. (Firewatch)"
I know it's probably a step in a quest, as in you see the guy first, he tells you to find the bandits, etc.
Sorry, just bringing something to attention that bugged me about a quest. =/
Other than that, I've had no issues so far, the quests are fun. :'D

I mean, Damn, I haven't even seen the whole completed mainland yet, but it's epic. So, I'm gonna help the project however I can. :'D

I found an issue with some dialogue in reference to the Telvanni quest where you are to send a dispatch to Eldale in Gah Sadrith. Along with that you are to pick up some soul gems from Cerul Arnem who freaks out and gives you another quest because he hears a Cacauphony. If you speak to the guard who is inside the shop after this he tells you the Surjol Arnem is acting crazy even though clearly the guys name is Cerul. This may have been adressed or be some weird title I just don't know about but I thought it should be mentioned.
NPC: Telvanni Guard
Cell: Cerul Arnem's Alchemy Shop, Port Telvannis
Error: Incorrect naming of Cerul as Surjol
Edit: So it would seem my guess that this is a title is correct as I have seen it several other times now. I would suggest either making this more known somehow or changing it to Cerul in the guards dialogue anyway so as to avoid confusion. Thats just me though.

And that's how you get to Llama School.

I'll be posting a list of minor errors I've found over the past few weeks on TR. I've been wanting to contribute and post for a while now.
Anyway, the first nasty error I've encountered so far is in Yashazmus.
I went there as part of the Lost Girlfriend/Inquisition quests. After raiding the shrine with my two friends, saving Melie and receiving my reward from Eranil, I left the place to discover the "spell" which activates when you enter the Shrine and prevents us from leaving the place (or so the journal says) is still in place!
In other words, after the quest is apparently completed and I'm gone, I still get the "teleportation magic does not work here" message.
Halp.

My first post and my first error report
-------------------------------------------------------
Quest: Lost in Translation
Location: Port Telvannis
Error: Ghernn Rithrin lost his scroll of recall in The Avenue, but once I find it and take it, game tends to crash in various ways: sometimes when i try to open my journal, sometimes with a 'data cannot be read' error message or a regular send/don't send when i try to leave The Avenue (to the other wing even), and sometimes it just crashes randomly before I try. This does not happen before i pick the scroll up, but follows afterwards.

I had this problem too actually. I managed to fix it by getting the scroll and then quickly saving and loading before it crashed. However, if this has happened to both of us then there must be something wrong.FrameShifter wrote:My first post and my first error report

Warning: may contain large amounts of sarcasm.
Myzel- We never actually see slaves working on Vvardenfell either. They're always just standing there. If you ask me they deserve a good whipping.

EDIT: new error added.
----------------------
NPC: Vaneris Theneria, Mages Guild in Firewatch
Topic: Vaneris Theneria
Error: Letting her escape entails a "thank you" dialogue, and 50 Gold are added to the inventory. But the journal speaks of "100 Septims".
To fix this, replace "100 Septims" by "50 Septims" in Journal "TR_m1_wil_KtM_2b" stage 100.
----------------------
EDIT: Please ignore the following bug. As of 2012 it is either fixed, or has never been a bug.
NPC: Jana Livia
Quest: TR_m1_FG_Jana, TR_m1_FG_Jana_Extra
Error: She never returns to her booth, she stays at the Census office forever.

Off-topic; a question on forum rules: how do you prefer me updating my bug list? Making new posts for each couple of bugs; editing my older posts; bump-editing my older posts (i. e., deleting my older posts, and posting new ones which include the old ones)?

Off-topic; a question on forum rules: how do you prefer me updating my bug list? Making new posts for each couple of bugs; editing my older posts; bump-editing my older posts (i. e., deleting my older posts, and posting new ones which include the old ones)?

NPC: Garrulus Meril
Quest: Fighters Guild: Coladia Nelus' Stalker (TR_m1_FG_Stalker)
Error: When I successfully lock up Garrulus on the lower deck, he forcegreets me with "Who's there?" (logically, since there's a door between us). The easiest dirty fix for this would be to check whether the player has getpos y > 4145 and Garrulus has getpos y < 4145 (in this case, no forcegreeting), but I wouldn't rely on this too far. Handle with care.

Script: TR_m1_q_MashugShowTrap
Quest: Fighters Guild: Find Mashug gro-Dugal (TR_m1_FG_FindMashug)
Error: When Mashug shows the player the trap in Nassudan, he instructs the player to "stand on that rug and watch the entrance". When the player steps off the platform, Mashug starts moving towards the rug. However, if the player then goes back onto the platform (instead of stepping on the rug) BEFORE Mashug has arrived at the rug, the quest is stuck: Mashug doesn't get the new "So, do you understand the trap now?" greeting and speaking to him about "trap" yields the old response.
Fix: The following version of TR_m1_q_MashugShowTrap fixes this bug (and additionally saves a few frames by stopscripting itself after it has served its purpose):

Quest: Temple Propaganda (TR_m1_GO_1)
Error: I don't understand what is going on here... Can anyone help me?
I have slain Trena Telteraneth. My stage is 210. Now I return to Ansuma and Gona Veloth and find them dead (or, actually, dying - they have 0 health but it takes them a while to fall over and die; if you really want them *dead* you should replace TR_m1_q_Gona_Veloth_D and TR_m1_q_Ansuma_Veloth_D by containers). Nothing updates here, though logically the quest stage should become 310. Unfortunately the only script that could do that (TR_m1_q50_GO1_Ansuma_scpt) is unused and wrong (it checks for Ansuma's death by "GetDeadCount TR_m1_Ansuma_Veloth >= 1", but this needs not hold because GetDeadCount is not properly updated if Ansuma's corpse is garbage-collected (as any corpse after 3 days have passed) before the player visits her house). Here is my version for that script:
We still need to add something (a container?) to add that script to, but that shouldn't be a problem.

(1) Script TR_m1_q_Natayasword has two interrelated bugs. First, the quest should be TR_m1_RR_Romance, not TR_m1_RR_Slander. Second, in order not to break quests, there should be a do-nothing clause for the case when the player is not far enough in the TR_m1_RR_Romance quest yet. Something like that:
(2) Script TR_m1_q_YishiniVamp_Script has quite a lot of spam for a script that is supposed to lie on a corpse. It is probably copypasted from Morrowind vampire scripts mostly...
(3) 10/16/2010 (21:37) TR_Map1.esm 11/29/2008 (09:28) skraeling ex_t_spiralramp Tel Ouada (25,18) 206745 151501 -20 "quest tr_m1_wil_ktm_2a stage 30: 'he' should be 'she'"
(4) (obsolete) Script TR_m2_telvlibr_teleport is bugged. The cells "Telvanni Library, Eastern Tower: Lower Level" and "Telvanni Library, Western Tower" should change place in the elseif's, because the entrance of the library is in the Eastern rather than in the Western tower.

(1) 11/13/2010 (12:08) TR_Map1.esm 11/29/2008 (08:28) skraeling TR_m1_q_AshamulGuard00000000 Ashamul (30,14) 246848 114957 777 "There is a slight bug with this quest. Imagine you slay the guar thief WITHOUT ever starting the quest. Then, the journal says that 'I should report this to the guard'. Talking with the guard is of no use, however, since there is no GUAR THIEF topic. Instead Feduran inside Ashamul is the right person to talk to. I think the fix is easy: just add something like 'and Feduren in the Ashamul caves will likely be pleased to hear of my success'".
(2) This is not a quest bug, but I find it important, so I prefer posting it here, lest it gets lost among all the floaters and superfluous inverted commata in the dialogue.
Almsivi Restoration (a spell cast by Tribunal Temple Shrines) currently is the only antidote to Skeleton War-Wizard curses (drain skill). Since I don't remember having seen even the slightest hint about this in the original game, and it wasn't of any use there either (or was it?), I guess most players will have no idea what to look for in order to have their broken skills restored. I suggest more information and/or spells. It's not like having this as spell would unbalance the game...
(3) Again, not a quest bug, but better discussed here than buried in the other topics:
I know, TR is not there for fixing Morrowind bugs... but here is one that can be done completely without messing with Vvardenfell, so I don't see a problem with it. Heartwood (ingred_heartwood_01). This is a Bloodmoon ingredient which appears with 48% chance as a loot drop from spriggans when the player level is <= 2. And this is the only way it can be obtained. It is safe to assume not many players will end up with any of it (and it's far from imbalanced...). Just use it somewhere - on restocking merchants in the first maps, or on some spriggan variations in the Veloth map.
(4) Plotstopper in Ranyon-Ruhn Temple questline: If you cure a diseased slave in Port Telvannis before you get the quest, the journal gets updated, and Ratagos never gives you the "message to Port Telvannis", assuming all the time that you already have it because of the journal index.
I am pretty sure this can be fixed as follows: In script TR_m1_q_SlaveDiseased, replace

Some more quest gripes (I already mentioned some of them in the IRC channel). These are not bugs in the strict sense of this word; it's just me complaining about things I don't like. I am wondering whether some of you questers share my dislike...
(1) Quest TR_m1_TG_MalaMirandus (Thieves Guild: Kidnapping Mala Mirandus).
If one's inventory is too full, the scroll (TR_m1_Q_MalaIntervention) is almost impossible to find, being not enchanted and doesn't have the "enchanted scroll" icon either. I don't know about others, but when I have to find a spell scroll, I look in my magic menu and not in my inventory...
To be honest I don't have a better idea than to explain the gory technical details (activate the scroll from the inventory, it looks like a book...) in the journal. I tried enchanting the scroll so that it appears in the magic menu, but apparently the script still makes it non-equippable...
(2) Dwemer ruin Archtumz is way too hard to find. It is only accessible via glass mine Palisnabat, where a guard tries to keep one from entering. Most people would turn back at that point, in fear of breaking a quest. And there is indeed a quest here (TR_m1_As_Dwemer, a.k.a. "The Dwemer Staff"), but it is very well-hidden: in order to get it you must talk to Feduran Vandal in Ashamul AGAIN after completing his "remove the guard" quest. This isn't quite a logical thing to do, as he doesn't ever hint at having an additional quest to offer (and even his first quest is rather hard to find if one doesn't play Master Mithras' questline).
I would propose adding a different quest from the IAS to the same ruin. After all, this ruin is being studied by IAS (although there is only one IAS member in the ruin) - so why not give the player access to that ruin, once he has high enough rank in the IAS? This new quest could be the same story from a different perspective: Feduran Vandal wanted the player to steal the staff; the IAS will want him to bring the staff safely to Firewatch. What actually happens is up to the player to decide.
(3) Quest TR_m1_MG_2 ("Mages Guild: Eyestars for Banviris"). This requires the player to gather some star's eyes. There are some 5-6 around the docks of Firewatch, and success at gathering them is randomized (although it depends on the player's skills too). In the worst case the player will fail to gather enough of these and have to wait until they respawn, which is a month or so. (There are more eyestars in the world, but they seem to be very hidden.) This sounds a bit hard for a low-level quest (I heard that the MG is supposed to start out low-levelish, and this is the second MG quest). You could just make the eyestars NOT disappear when one fails to gather them, so one has an infinite number of tries until one succeeds.
(4) Quest TR_m1_MG_6 stage 20:
"To get to Midannecne, I should head west out of Sarvanni, head left, then take the road to the right. I should follow that path round the mountains to the west, then south past the Boethian Mountains Lighthouse. Midannecne will be just south of there, on the right side of the road."
This is very misleading. First, it is not "to the west", but "to the east". Second, the beginning ("head west out of Sarvanni, head left,") is easily read as "head west and THEN at the next junction head left", while it actually just means "head west".

Do'tirath posted some critique including at least one definite bug report in http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?p=296734#296734 .
EDIT: as of 2012, I cannot reproduce the bug.

From BGSF:
Well, he fixed it, but obviously it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Does anyone have any idea which quest he's talking about?Hi, I need a bit of help. I did the Tamriel rebuilt quest in which you have to save the Breton from being sacrificed by a Daedric cult with the help of the (utterly useless) inquisitors. While in the Daedric Shrine you are 'not allowed to use teleportation magic' but after I left the ruin this persisted. I didn't realise this and overwrote my saves from before entering the shrine. Now, I can't use Recall or Intervention at all. . . What can I do to fix this?
Warning: may contain large amounts of sarcasm.
Myzel- We never actually see slaves working on Vvardenfell either. They're always just standing there. If you ask me they deserve a good whipping.

I don't think we do 'patches' do we? Patches would be a strange thing to release for a product that is essentially still in beta. I'm pretty sure most of these issues have been fixed, and that the fixes will be included in the next release.

Frankly, I'm confused as to why someone privy to our decision making forums would say we should do something we never have done, and have no plans to do. Apart from that, you should already know our next release is actually somewhat close and fixes will be included for all previous releases.

I am sorry if I have used the wrong terminology, I have not been active in TR for some time I meant new version of mainland.
The thing that bugs me is that I remember fixing particularly this issue in the last release of map 1 long time ago. I also spent some difficult time fixing the Mashug script, which was a scripting purgatory. It just surprises me people keep on reproting the same errors. Perhaps an older version of map 1 was used for the new merged file. Never mind - thanks to people like arvisrend the fixes will be easy to track and redo.

It has also been a long time since we released new content, so a looot of things that seem like they've been fixed for a while are still being reported by some people since they don't have access to all the latest internal files; it can get confusing at times, using this type manual bug-tracking.Theo wrote:I am sorry if I have used the wrong terminology, I have not been active in TR for some time I meant new version of mainland.
