Exams = Death

Post by Tyrion »

Well what can you say? You spent all that time detailing a claim only to have fall semester creep up on you, and despite all your protestations that you'd get it done "by the end of the week" its now the end of semester, and exams are coming up. Maybe I'm the only one, but when school is in, my modding capabilities fall off dramatically, and all I seem to be able to do is curse the academic gods for the workload they pile on.

Here I'd like to share my late semester hardships, and anyone else suffering under the heavy yoke of final examinations can share their tales as well.

Right now I have a total of two weeks left in the semester before exams start. In that period of time my professors feel I should be ready to take one final round of tests, hand in two essays, and complete a chemistry lab final project, all while preparing to die in the futile attempt at taking the impregnable fortress that are the Temple University Science and Technology Department's standardized final exams. To lay it out in numbers: 5 final exams (Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, Inorganic Chemistry, Calculus, Urban Dynamics, Intellectual Heritate *think The Iliad*) plus 3 tests the week before (Neuro, Chem, Calc) two essays (urban dynamics, intellectual heritage) and finally to top it all off, one lovely chemistry report that remains sandwiched under a pile of books where I left it last week after lab.

So how are your trials and tribulations going oh fellow TRmates?

I am currently occupied with 2 essays, a short lecture, 2 exams, a latin course, aikido training and a girlfriend. I've had worse. Apparently it also seems to be the party 'n beer season for me.

I guess old age does have it's perks. I haven't seen the inside of a school in more than 30 years! :)

I take the Victorian (Australian) Police entrance exam on the 5th of December. Yes, you read right, I'm trying to become a cop so can get high on Autority (and drive around in really cool cars).

I have four 2-hour final exams on the second Monday in December. That's about it, aside from an accounting final exam the Saturday before at 8:30AM

i dont have finals in the sense of sitting down and taking a test. my finals are looking over all the work ive created during the semester in two 6-hour sessions. it kinda sucks even more than taking a test: if you do bad on a subject you can study and do well on the test, but if you mess up a painting there is not much you can do to it for finals.

it feels completely bizarre to have almost finished my first semester in college :shock:

We have a bit different school system here, my college last for 3 years, then I'm bachelor, then another 2 years (but I don't know the title). Each year has 2 semestar's, each semestar has 2 blocks, each block has 2-3 subjects.

In first block I had Mathematics 1, Physics 1, Engineering Graphics and Documentations (I apologize for possibly bad translations). I failed Math 1, I have it again second year, but then I don't have Engineering Math and I have it in third year.... Messed up, I'm second year of Bologne system.

In this block I have Introduction to Computer Science (easy more or less) and Basics of Electrotechnics 1 (it's like stabbing yourself with a toothpick to death).

It's not easy even in Eastern Europe... :)
