The Denominator's Showcase
This is my oblivion showcase. It adds an inn between Chorrol and Bruma. (There are no inns on that road) It's got NPC's, bed rental and interior work.

hi! i'm not a modder yet, but i'll take a look at this for you (i need the practice). for an actual review, though, you'll have to wait for probably either Felix or Jonarus. will update with review when done.
okay, here goes:
--when i load it, an error message says "can't find quest reference on bed" and "can't find quest reference on bed, yes". i don't know about these, but i don't think it's supposed to happen.
--clean, as far as i can tell, which is very good.
interior:
--almost all of the furniture with the blue wireframes need to be lowered slightly, until they stop lowering (or go through the floor).
--the grain sack and food sack aren't even resting on the shelf. they float in front of it.
--the counter (and therefore all the beer) floats slightly.
--the barrel by the door floats.
--the fireplace wood floats, and the actual fire needs to be moved back. it's hanging out the front.
--both of the tables float very slightly.
--you might want to rotate the apples (or havok, as long as you adjust by hand later) because they rest too perfectly.
--the bread and cheese float.
--there's no silverware one the table. they can't eat without silverware!
--the lighting upstairs is really bright cuz you have four lanterns which each give off seperate light. find the static versions of these and then use an invisible light (the kind that looks like a big gray lightbulb) in the center of the four lights.
--overall, this is a very bare interior. add a lot more clutter, and be more careful when placing items. fixing floaters (and bleeders, though you don't have any) are easily fixed with experience. fix these up and wait to see if another OB reviewer has anything else to say. welcome to the team!
whoops sorry, cath. you should probably take a look anyway, since i'm still learning.

If no one has reviewed this by the morning (for me, about 3 or 4 hours from now), then I'll give it a look. I need to extend my reviewing abilities into Oblivion too.

Re: The Denominator's Showcase
I had a look at it again and fixed the fire and silverware.(I also watched someone drink at the bar) I can't see anything floating, I always use the f key, but I still double check.
So thanks, I think I've got everything, there isn't really much more you can do to an inn. So here's the new file.

In b4 JD and Cath. He he he ha ha ha.
• Thywaix’s eating chair is below ground somewhat.
• DrinkAle floats
• Sconce bleeds into wall.
• In fact, all your sconces bleed…
• Furniture needs to be “f-keyed†several times so it sits properly on the floor.
• Sackgold rests unnaturally on the edge of the ledge.
• Where is your Northmarker?
• Greyhound was correct in there being way to much light upstairs. Use static versions of the lanterns and then use a radius light to remedy this problem.
Hmm the error list seems to be reduced since Greyhounds review, but there are still floaters and obvious bleeders. Fix these errors and we are on our way.

Indeed, and a new .esp since i posted too, so its probably for the best. All these physical errors are one thing, but style/theme is something all together different. The previous .esp was very sparse, there was nothing in either of the upstairs rooms aside from the beds that wern't even 'matched' to the rooms (they were on angles, and not in corners - meaning there was no room for other furnature).
You only get three 'trys' per .esp before you have to start another. So take your time, compare to Vanilla content, maybe even look at real-world versions of what your after. Take your time and make sure you have done everything you can think of, that way even if you still need more work you will have the best possible feedback to work on.

Right, I'm really quite late, but here's the errors I found in your latest file.
-No Northmarker, please put a northmarker in.
-No detailing in the area outside the inn. If you don't want to be promoted for exteriors, don't link your interior to an exterior.
-Most plates on the table floated a small amount. You should turn on fullbright (A key) and use camera control to ensure that your objects are touching the surface perfectly.
-Candles on the tables were placed somewhat unrealistically, having flat bottoms they shouldn't be placed between the planks of the table unless they realistically look like they've melted into the crack.
-The beer bottle on its side on the bar floats, and by quite a bit.
-BroomLower01 bleeds into the wood it's resting on.
-Both sacks on the ledge over the stairs float, and hang over the edge way too much.
-All of the sconces upstairs bleed into the wood, hiding the plate that holds them to the wood.
-All your chairs and stools that I've checked float. I also just noticed that the bounding boxes on OB furniture is messed up, and extends a fair bit beyond the feet of the furniture >.< Annoying.
Anyway, I'd say the place looks a bit bare. I just checked the Roxey Inn (the amount of floaters in Vanilla Oblivion ints makes me cringe) for an example, and it had much more stuff. Add bookcase displays, tapestries, paintings, cabinets, more containers and the like, and we should be good to go.

I've just finished fixing errors and polishing the inn. I haven't done much exterior work, but I don't want to be promoted for exteriors anyway. There's no more floating or bleeding into walls anymore and I've added some extra things. I couldn't find any errors when I tested it, so here's the new file.

Ok, had a look through. There were no obvious errors, and the file was (apparently) clean. I didn't notice any OBVIOUS bleeders/floaters. But there are several things i have to point out:
> BOTH of the beds upstairs are still off. You've pushed one into a corner, but the other is still in the middle of the room. Both rooms are also completely empty aside from the beds, extra containers, decorations, and loose clutter are needed to make the rooms realistic.
> There are a total of FOUR lamps outside the bedroom doors. Even if they arn't all light sorces, it still looks un-realistic, remove the middle two and you'd be fine.
> The two rugs outside the upstairs bedrooms look to uniform, change thier rotations so that they arn't on the same angle as one-another, this makes them look like they've been moved around by people draging thier feet while walking. This 'hap-hazzard' look is all but essential for making Lower Class interiors look lived in.
>The Bedroll at the far end of the dining area looks out of place. Since I'm asuming that it is for the bartender, i sugest putting it behind the bar, against the back wall (i'm not entirely sure, but i think NPCs can just walk over the top of them if they need to anyway).
> The Dining area itself is too dark. Either replace the candles on the tables with ones that add light, add 'invisable' light sorces (the grey light-bulbs) to match the candles, or add another light source all together (a 256 strength lantern hanging from the roof in the centre of the room might work).
> There is a middle class shelf unit in the alcove just inside the front door, this is style mixing, and too be avoided as a rule (you have to have a pretty good reason to get away with breaking this rule - i dont see any reason at all here).
Generaly, your interior shows you have a decent working knowledge of the CS, just work on the stylistic stuff a bit more. This was the third 'fix list' for this file, so you will have to start again with a new interior. I Look forward to seeing what you come up with.
JD
PS: Post it here of course, you are still only allowed a single thread. Sorry if you already knew this, but you'd be suprised how often it comes up.

Thanks, cool avatar by the way. O.K, now I'm working on a restaurant in Chorrol. It's a middle class house with tables and chairs, complete with menus. I'm going to make a waiter who will serve the meals ( he serves en trees, main meals, desserts and drinks) and a chef who cooks upstairs. It should be ready by Wednesday, so check again then.

If it is well explained/reasoned, and transitions well to the rest of the building i guess so. Normaly ANY style mixing is a no-no, but one thing i do want to make clear is that just because the building mesh is MC, doesn't mean it cant be richly furnished. Maybe its some young upstart merchant's home, maybe some retired succesful adventurer, maybe the house is just out in the country somewhere.
The point is, the style mixing rules ARE there for a reason, but that doesn't mean they cant be bent slightly for the sake of a good story/theme.
PS: This is technicaly only opinion on my part. In the end i have no say in reguards to wether or not any style mixing is 'acceptable' or not. That'd be Thrig's job...

style mixing in OB ints is ok as long as it is only in one direction (I.E. MC can mix with UC and LC, but not both. LC and UC must never mix.)

Sorry it's been so long, I've been busy with other things. Now I'm back into working on the restaurant.
The interiors finished, now I just have the ordering to do. You order by dialog from the waiter and upstairs is upper class for a fee.
It should be ready by Sunday, but I'm not making any promises.

Good to see you back, I was worried that all the modders I gave an initial review to ditched us! The restaurant is a good idea, but I don't think you need to add scripts. That would only be if you were trying out for a questing showcase. Good luck though!

I've done basic questing to allow you to buy meals through dialog. There's 3 meals for an en tree, main meal and desert, I may add more in future if I have to redo this.
There's only two short scripts. One to make the waiter approach you after you read the menu, and one to make you leave the restaurant if you refuse to pay the first class fee.
I'm hoping to release it today or tomorrow, I'm just making sure everything is error-free.

Not sure if you read the news, but TR will no longer be doing Oblivion stuff. If you still want to help out, try some showcase stuff for Morrowind, or PM Lady N and get her to add you to the e-mail list for her own Hammerfell project.

Yessir. She's gathering all of the WIP files and storing them on her own. After she's done that, TR will delete all the claims, and N will be able to begin again with her new team.

I know that TR have stopped modding Oblivion but I worked hard on this so I'm still going to upload it. Ironbark Restaurant is located in Chorrol next to the castle and across from that lower class inn.
Just a couple of notes:
- There are three en trees and main meals, and two desserts
- The en tree can only be ordered once while the others can be ordered multiple times ( I would have fixed that )
- Upstairs is first class but it's free ( I figured who cares about the extra work when this is useless now )
- Read the menu before you order
- Enjoy your meal at Ironbark Restaurant!
You don't have to be a reviewer but it'd be cool if someone could review this. I don't have Morrowind on PC. Maybe I should upload this to TESNexus. Anyway thanks, TR I bid you goodbye.

Farewell Denominator. I can take a look if I have time, if nobody else does first. You should really PM Lady N and join our new team. She sent her first newsletter today, its gonna be great.

I'll have a look once i get back from x-mas holidays (about a week or so). If your work is good enough i will happily pass your details on to LN, so if your still interested in working on the (smaller scale) Hammerfell project, you still can. It's just that its outside TR now.
