Top 200 games of all time

I just thought everyone would like to know that Gameinformer magazine has listed their top 200 games of all time. Oblivion ranked #30 and Morrowind came in at #101. This list includes ALL games including standup arcade games and all console and handheld systems. I thought it was pretty cool to see Oblivion and Morrowind listed in such a wide list. In case you are wondering, Legend of Zelda (NES) took #1.

I know where this is going...Oblivion is #30, and Morrowind is only #101? WTF!

In the scheme of the whole "all games thing" I wonder how anyone could possibly distinguish Morrowind and Oblivion.

top [insert large number here] games lists are entirely subjective, though, based pretty much entirely on the opinions of the writers. I'd imagine yours or my top 200 games list would be incredibly different to theirs.

Mine for instance, would contain many, many blank spaces towards the end, as I'm not sure I've even played 200 games I liked

Mine probably wouldnt consist of 200 games, doubt Ive played that many.

I guess I'm the oddball then. Of the 200 listed there were only 2 or 3 that I hadn't heard of and maybe 15 I hadn't played. As I've said in other posts I'm a true gamer. I've got over 160 XBox games, 300 PC games, about 50 PS2 games, and 40 or so GBA games. I have 9 PCs and 1 mac, and would have more if I had the room.

Some of my PC games date back to '88 or '89. If I'm not working or sleeping there's a good chance I'm in front of a PC or console. Even when I have to take my girlfriend somewhere, I'm probably sitting in the car with my GBA.

True that. Some of the good lists will occasionally factor in things like copies sold and cite polls and stuff.

I dunno about always being different. For instance no one would ever put a game like Battlefield 1942 as high as a game like Halo: Combat Evolved.

I believe Oblivion scored higher than MW because it has been published on Xbox as well, so more people played it, more people vote for it. Anyway MW is much better than Oblivion

Meh. For me, I loved Oblivion.

Oblivion had much potential to match, and even surpass Morrowind with the introduction of voice acting, physics, better graphics, all the generic stuff, etc.

But it came quite short of Morrowind because it lacks originality in a sense that the characters are quite generic. Very little to talk about. Dungeons get very repetitive, baddies are also generic and not really unique. That is also why I had little interest in modding for it (or else I would have helped with hammerfell and stirk)

By level 30 I had so much daedric armour....

I guess both have their advantages/disadvantages, but IMO MW and OB should have been placed alot closer together. Oblivion would have also been nothing if it weren't for Morrowind

My opinion on games is based solely on how long I played them, and both oblivion and morrowind kept me lot longer then most games, but morrowind took the crown by a long shot.

I guess many people like Oblivion more because they played it first, and if you've got to know the better graphics and physics, it's hard to prefer Morrowind.

Anyway, in my case, it was the other way round, so I prefer Morrowind and modding is great. Since I've played the first 2 maps of TR, I think Morrowind is not complete without them.
