Help! Things are broken and I don't know how to fix them!

Post by Jordan »

Hi, when I load up CS and try to select anything other than morrowind.esm (ie. bloodmoon.esm, TR_Map1.esm) I get this message:

Chunk size 10 too big in chunk WEAT_ID in form REGN_ID. Max Size is 8, data truncated to "__".

The underscores aren't actually underscores in the message. In the error message it just has 4 of those boxes that show up when your computer doesn't recognize the characters. If I tell it to continue running the executable, a constant stream of error messages follow stating that various sounds can't be found and then that various regions can't be found.
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

i get this error when using dummy blood moon and tribunal files. so my guess is to make sure that bloodmoon and tribunal are installed correctly (iirc, there is an order to it... trib first bm second? someone correct me, please)

Thanks for the help Lady Nerevar!! But Tribunal and Bloodmoon are installed in the right order and I still get the same issue. I've tried the "YesToAll" button solution and now I get through the the error messages, all the files get loaded, it gets through initializing Dialogue but then the program crashes when it hits the "Initializing Objects" part. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I'm not sure if this has any bearing on the problem, but I just noticed that in the bottom right hand corner of the 'Data Files' window it says:
File Version: 1.30 (or 1.20 when morrowind.esm or any plugins I've made are highlighted)
Current: 1.20

Do you have Vista?
If yes, you should consider looking for the hidden ini file and change it.
There are 2 ini files, but the one which MW uses is the one from a file in the AppData folder, a hidden folder. When you find that file, you need to type some more changes or copy the other ini file and replace that file with the hidden ini file.

You can find more information about this problem at the Elder scrolls forums.

To me this sounds like your version of morrowind is outdated. Did you install the latest patch?

Thanks! I'll try these!
Also, just out of curiosity, what shows up for you guys in the File Version/Current spots in the CS 'Data Files' window?

well, the previous person with problems needed to patch their game. Alternatively, I seem to recall there being some problems with the file dates on the bsas with steamowind. Perhaps this will jog someone's memory and they can say if this is a similar error to what that situation caused.

Thank you very much :) I'll look into that in the meantime.
