Blade117's Showcase
This is my attempt at interior modding to (hopefully) end up contributing to TR. This showcase is a Velothi style manor located in Pelagiad (easiest place to fit the building, easy to pick out from other buildings due to architectural contrast.) It may seem a bit bare, but I'm going to get to that after I get some feedback concerning what I have finished at this point. One thing I noticed is that two of t5he candles on the downstairs table have no lights on them, if anybody can tell me where I erred there, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the project!
Well review:
Northmarker: yes
Gridsnap:yes
Lightsettings: yes
Stilemixing: yes
-firstly you do not have to built a exterior for a interior showcase
-this showcase is realy underclutterd. You should only post a showcase after you finish it.
-you mix de_p and de_r items this is bad make the showcase de_p only (and stick to one de_p; de_r or com stile in any interior)
-you bled a pillow into a chair and this looks realy bad
-you only placed lights into the rooms put some in the coridors
-you have a lot of floaters press "f" so objects go down.
-there shouldn't be silverware in this int remove for redware.
You gridsnaped well but you still have a lot to do. Fix what i mentioned above and finish the showcase.

Well, that's marginally disheartening... but I suppose I must star somewhere. What do you mean I don't need to build An exterior?
-EDIT-
New version uploaded. Removed exterior, cell name is Vaelryn Manor
-EDIT 2-
I now figure it might be good to note here that in one of the corners I bled a planter into the wall, it looks fine in-game (as far as I can tell) anbd I didn't need the entirety of the planter, just a portion of it, is that acceptable?

Don't be dishartend by the size of the problem list. I've seen done and recived worse . You have potential you only need a bit of practice.
Bleeding planters is ok as long as it looks good. And for the exterior thing exteriors and interiors are done separatly. This interior would easily fit in a canton for example. You won't do them unless you also want to go for an exterior showcase as well.
EDIT: taken a look at it and its better but:
- i told you to do this in de_p this means every furniture should start with de_P here
- the clutter is still better but you can use more. Give it a personality. Ask yourself who lives here? (and clutter acordingly) + Add some tapestries. Rugs. Containers and such.
-i like the planter ideea and the rest of this is technicaly good it just needs a bit more clutter and no stilemixig.

Thanks, I appreciate the vote of confidence. Also, I coc'd my way there after removing the exterior, and found myself stuck in a wall, how does one set where the center on cell command places the player? Is is possible?
-EDIT-
Response to above:
1) You wanted me to do it in de-p? You merely stated, or so I think, do not stylemix. de-r vs. de-p, they are both styles, and as far as I know, I am no longer mixing them, but I'll check again.
-EDIT-
Wait, you did say that... Well, I have a ton of editing to do now. Couldn't I just use de-r and not need to replace all the furniture? Or are you adamant on this?
2) Thanks for the advice.
3) Again, thanks.

If you get stuck, there is always the tcl command which you can use to float yourself back in the walls (ALWAYS use tai first though if there are NPCs and creatures around though)
both are toggles, so also don't forget to toggle them back.

Progress update, de_r has been eradicated (how I enjoy that word) and replaced with de_p. Let the cluttering commence!

Review:
This is still a bit underclutterd and it also has a huge amount of floaters and bleeders such as:
-the brief history of the empire book 4 on(and into) the desk, the papers that bleed into each other on the same desk
-basicaly each and every book on the shelf upstairs and the skull there is badly floating
-Downstairs the crab meat is floating badly (on the table) also minor floating from some of the plates.
-the misc_d_bowl_bugdesign has a pointed bottom and needs to be lowerd so that it looks stable (floater) the exact same for the redware bowl and all the other bowls there. There is also a bolt of cloth floating
Despite the mistakes it's actualy better this time around. Still you have to learn how to match the de_p surfaces. Here are a few tips:
Try to rotate to get all 4 lines on the bottom dotted. Most of the times you won't be able to achive this so try to have 3 lines or 2 oposite lines dotted. For pointy bottomed items you have to sink them a bit until they apear stable (no lines at this).
Also press f to lower the objects to the nearest surface its far better this way. F every object in a room.
You have recived 3 reviews at this showcase so try making a new one (2 floors de_p any style you wish). You are already improving quite a lot so yes it's getting better.

Ah, the floaters might be because I used Search and Replace to quickly switch furniture styles, then forgot to go and fix the objects. I had a second interior shell in the works for this purpose. I appreciate the help and feedback.
-EDIT-
While going about filling in my new interior, I stumbled upon stoneware plates/bowls/the like. Can I use this in a de_p setting? Or should I stick to redware?

New file added.

Stoneware is very much encouraged, it's a nice set and goes well with de_p.

Ok review again:
Firstly you have not changed the light settings. Copy them from a standard cell (in Vivec). Also there is FAR too much light in the first room, like 3/4 of that light needs to be out (again look at Vivec for inspiration). In contrast there is no light on the lower room.
You also have some floaters: the skull on the shelf, a stone plate on the drawers and all the ingredients on the table. Also those books on the shelf don't support each other move them closer. Also more effort should be made in making objects fit the de_p surfaces (at least 2 dotted lines). You won't manage all but you can fix the most obvious of them. Also this showcase is still a bit underclutterd though it has improved a lot (mainly the lower room the upper room is fine).
You improved a great lot but you should pay more attention to details. "f" every object at least once and check the showcase better.

Here is the new file. I attempted to align some stuff with the furniture, added some lights in the lower room, and added some misc. stuff in various places (like under the bed...)

Hi blade, welcome to TR if I haven't said it yet.
I took a look at your latest file:
firstly, your file is not clean. There is a tutorial on the main page teaching how to clean your files with TESAME.
Another thing is your light settings. While the ambient settings are acceptable, your sunlight is far too high.
upper floor:
-you bled these sacks far too much for my tastes.
-crate_01_empty bleeds into wall
-crate_02_empty bleeds into wall
-com_sack_02 bleeds into wall
-Furn_de_rug_big_02 floats
-Light_tikilamp bleeds into wall twice
-furn_de_shrine_vivec_01 bleeds through the tapestry
-Light_tikilamp bleeds into cushion
-de_drawers_02_empty is half-floating
-the books on your shelf bleed into each other. Try moving them a bit, just so that they still support each other.
stairs:
-Light_tikilamp floats
lower floor:
-style-mixing: furn_com_p_table_01
-active_de_p_bed_10 bleeds into rug
-furn_de_p_table_05 is half-floating and bleeds
-misc_uni_pillow_01 floats
general conclusions:
While you have more than 100 objects in the cell, I still think it is a bit bare overall. You should fill the corridors a bit more and the tables. Also, you should watch out for the walls in the velothi tileset, the are not just straight, so many of your objects bleed. Another point is that you shouldn't place any objects half-on, half-off; they will be half floating.
Other than that, there are three serious errors:
1. de_p furn: you didn't rotate most objects properly. Many are half-floating or bleeding.
2. You have to keep an open eye for floaters and bleeders. There are quite a lot in this int. Check every object after you placed it.
3. The lights. You have to improve the settings, some fog would be nice too. Also, look at these high radii: They shouldn't actually overlap, otherwise your int will be too bright. Also, on a personal taste, I can't be fine with these sconces, they are usually used for tombs, but I guess they're fine.
Please don't be disappointed or so now: you will be there some day. But you have to improve these things first.
Keep on moddin'!!

Okay, I took another look.
upper room:
-com_sack_02 bleeds into crate
-furn_de_p_chair_02 floats and some others aren't standing properly
corridors:
-barrel_01 bleeds into surface
comments
Well, I'm gonna have to say no to the tikilamps. While your light settings are ok now(but could still have some fog), you might have noticed that it's still too bright. Use some light_de_lamps or so with a maximum radius of 128.
I also think you could use some more tapestries all over the house. They would fit well in the corners of your staircase as well.
Now, let's go on to the really important things:
1. DE_P furniture. Look at this:

You have to fix these. It doesn't look right and would not pass review like that.
2. Wall bleeders. Look at this:

That causes some half floaters as well. I'm not gonna list every object which has this problem, but there are many more than only the ones I listed above.
edit: btw, the file is still dirty.
