Casper's Showcase
Hi everybody! I'm a big fan of Tamriel Rebuilt, so I decided it would be a good idea to start helping out a little. I've been making (mostly unreleased) house mods for my characters and other personal mods for a while now, so I'm not really new to the CS.
Anyway, I figured I would start by applying to make interiors. For my showcase, I made a small-ish two floor Hlaalu interior with de_p furniture, since that seems to be the preference. I think I did a decent job on it, but there were a couple things I was unsure about.
1) Is it okay to use the redware planter, even though it's labeled 'com'? It uses the redware textures, and redware seems to be used in plenty of Dunmer-style buildings, but it looks like the planter is mostly only used in Imperial interiors. I used the other one for now, but I like the redware planter better because it matches the other redware I used and fits better on the shelf.
2) I was going to make the pitchers the flowers are in statics, so the player can't take them and leave the flowers floating, but I didn't know if you would want me to make a new object ID. Should I go ahead and do that?
Oh yeah, the cell is named 'Showcase' and there's no exterior. The file should be clean.

Hi and welcome to the TR forums
Review:
Clean: yes
Gridsnap: yes
Northmarker: yes
Lightsettings: good
Stilemixing: no
- the redware platter on the desk is bleeding into in raise it
-the books and a few other things on the shelf in the upper room are floating make them fit to the surface
-put more effort in making objects rest well on de_p surfaces so at least 3 bottom lines are dotted (or just 2 lines if you can't manage that. You did it a few times but there are still a few items that don't rest
For the questions:
1) Yes you should
2) no this is how Beth did it we won't change that
This is a very good showcase and you are a skilled modder. Do the things i said above and you will probably be good for promotion.

It's meant to be, the platter is too large to be able to place it on an even place on the desk that's all tilted the same way. If I raise it the middle part is floating, and I figured that would be worse than bleeding.alex25 wrote: - the redware platter on the desk is bleeding into in raise it
Wow, you're right, until I checked I thought you meant they were just barely not adjusted right. I can't believe I missed that. I adjusted a few other things on that shelf too, I think I must have been worn out with the rotating by the time I got there.alex25 wrote: -the books and a few other things on the shelf in the upper room are floating make them fit to the surface
I changed a few things, was there anything in particular you had in mind?alex25 wrote: -put more effort in making objects rest well on de_p surfaces so at least 3 bottom lines are dotted (or just 2 lines if you can't manage that. Yes I should use the redware one, or yes I should leave it with the other? Sorry, I just don't want to change it if that wasn't what you meant. And I just decided to delete the flowers, so that's not an issue now.alex25 wrote: For the questions:

Thanks! Here's the updated file.alex25 wrote: This is a very good showcase and you are a skilled modder. Do the things i said above and you will probably be good for promotion.

Redware is accepted in both com and de interiors, feel free to use it, even the pieces listed as com. If you want to make a static pitcher (which is fine if the flower is a static too, but don't bother if the flower can be picked up) make a new object ID and give it a nopickup script, there should be one in the vanilla morrowind file.
Also the "three dotted lines" comment (and this is mainly aimed at Alex), please let the objects guide you instead of the selection boxes. There are quite a few objects where they don't match properly. Me, I've found that showing the wireframe of objects (press w) is a good way of testing if they truly do not bleed. This isn't always necessary though, if the object doesn't bleed or float, then it doesn't bleed or float.
Anyway, welcome to the project! ;D

That was what I thought about the redware, only reason I asked was because in the info tab for it it looked like it was only used in imperial interiors. I'll just leave it as the other planter for now though, I don't want to waste my last try on this file with switching out a planter.
Also I deleted the flowers so it doesn't matter now, but I'll do that if I want to use them in the future (since they were containers).
Thanks for the welcome and the tips!

Sorry, I didn't notice you could see the table through it, I thought you just meant the bottom of the platter was sticking into the table too far. Fixed that, lowered the paper a little, and switched the planter. Here you go!

Ok review: a few minor bleeders and floaters but well clutterd and fit from any other point of view. There are a lot of well rotated items on the de_p surface. There are ones that aren't as good but overall i am realy impressed so:

de_p_chest_02 bleeds a slight bit too much for my tastes

Thanks everybody!
Also, I had a question about the interior claims. Is it likely that there will be house interiors available soon? I'm not trying to be picky, it's just that for my first claim I want to do something I'm more familiar with so I can do a good job on it without taking way too long.
Oh no, the whip! I'll probably wait a couple weeks for school to end though, but after that I should definitely be able to get started.alex25 wrote:Now go and claim something

Feel free to practice various types of interiors here, and ask for help/tips. The Showcase is, after all, a center for learning.
