Clockwork City

Post by Kaamos »

I was wondering, is the exterior, or anything to do with the clockwork city going to be added in TR? (obviously that wouldn't include messing with what was already added in Tribunal)

Also for that matter is their any lore that says where it actually is I've had no luck in finding any.
Free range oranges they say.

I am Sotha Sil. I am the Mage. I am the Clockmaker.

You ask where my Clockwork City is? Some say in the swamps of Black Marsh. Others claim it is deep in the ground beneath Ebonheart. I have even heard it told that my city is contained within a jar on the Lady Almalexia's mantle. These are all true, and false. My city is where I live, and I live in my city. Its location is unimportant, as I am its only citizen. - http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/sotha_sil.shtml
At any rate, I'm certain that it doesn't have an exterior. It's most likely underground, and:
When Almalexia teleports you to the Clockwork City in The Mad God, if you look behind you, you'll see a door which has been destroyed and blocked by a cave-in. This is obviously the entrance to Sotha Sil, and shows how the city is completely blocked off from Tamriel. - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:Clockwork_City
So unless there is an inconspicuous AND inoperable door in the side of a hill somewhere, it won't show up in the regular world at all. Hope this helps! =]

interestingly enough when i play Tribunal and get to this part, i look at my world map and it shows me in ebonheart.

This could be where it is located, or this could be this way simply because there is nothing else to show.

Your map should actually show ebonheart at every time you play Tribunal, even when you're only staying at the capital, since Tribunal is actually only an interior, and the time you're teleported to Mournhold you really ARE in Ebonheart. So it still shows Ebonheart on the map. Don't trust it

BTW, so I'm asking myself if we(TR) are going to fix this in map3, so that it shows the player on the mainland while staying in Mournhold.

Yes, once TR's Almalexia is relaeased you'll see another map location for Mournhold. There is a page of this issue on the website.
You (TR modders) can also download the latest m3a6 version, go to mournhold and check their map. It's also possible to enter Almalexia by using the gates of Symmachus.

Just about the fake mournhold thing... Are you gonna do anything to prevent the player from getting into the fake mournhold rather than the true one ? I mean, I dunno, something like a script similar that the one you find in Mournhold and that prevents you from flying, and that would only work when you are into the walls of Almalexia ? (don't know if it is possible to make such a script, maybe by using the cell references ?)

Or are you just going to let the player take his own responsabilities if he wants to get into the fake mournhold though he knows there's nothing in ?

If a player wants to break the game to go somewhere they are not meant to go, it's on them.

As ever exploring as I am, I have tried to get out of Mournhold by jumping, I made an awesome ring with I cannot remember how many points in jump, and jumped over the Mournhold wall.

What happens is this, you fall down to water level and the game automatically places you back at the nearest gate/entrance if you are lucky. As there is no exterior to fall on.
I believe Almsivi Intervention still worked when you get stuck.

IIRC levitation will not be possible in Almalexia; so you won't be able to get into the fake Mournhold unless you use cheats.

You know what's also popular? Enormous flying cities and ridable dragons. Maybe TR should invest in navigable ships and underwater cities.

Ok, so just the same thing than what's currently in the Tribunal's Mournhold, a script that forbids levitation ? That's nice. :)

If not the clockwork city, then at least a dunmer worshiping cult specifically for Sotha Sil.

It's just feels that Sotha Sil ain't gettin the love he needs.

That's because Sotha Sil isn't very popular among Temple followers. He's the least public of the Tribunal so worshipers prefer Almalexia and Vivec. Anyway, Sotha Sil was always more interested in his own projects than with being worshiped.

True, but that doesn't mean they aren't a select few who choose to glorify him for whatever reason.
After all he is a mysterious diety and what better reason to start a cult.

Followers devoted directly to Sotha Sil wouldn't form their own cult. They might form a distinct group -such as a monastery- as part of the Tribunal Temple though. (I think I remember that a Temple in a TR city -Kogo'Tel I believe- has a section devoted to him)

Our unreleased files are indeed available internally to our modders. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to work on them to prepare them for release.
