I'll do this one myself.

TM1: The smoking house
There is a rumor in Tel Muthada that there is a strange smell coming from Vidam Deris' house. It is pretty logical, because a bookshelve on his second floor is on fire. When you talk to Vidam, he doesn't seem to mind that much because he needs to stay at home to look after his 'stash'. (Vidam Deris runs a skooma hole and upstairs, hidden behind some crates is a storage of skooma) When you ask him further about the stash he nearly says something about skooma but then replies that it is his family jewels or some other unbelievable thing. He gives you a bucket and ask you to go to the waterfall to fill it. When you arrive at the waterfall the bucket will be filled with water through scripting. When you return to the house he asks you to go upstairs and put down the fire. If you do that he rewards you with 50-100 gold. But, anytime during the quest if you discover the skooma stash you can blackmail Vidam. He doesn't want this to be told to the guards so he gives you a skooma bottle as bribe. If you tell it to the guards instead, they repy in a Telvanni way: "We know he has a skooma hole and we don't care, here's 5 drakes for telling us"

Wouldn't 'filling the bucket' be a bit wierd? (Because only that waterfall has 'the right water')

I have another quest idea for this one. It involves an evil "grand vizier" who is hamstering up loads of enchanted scrolls. (Aren Sinn) The wizard of this village, Llevari Telsaran, is actually a benign ruler for the people in the village. Don't get me wrong she is still terrible blunt if you are stupid or if you aren't one of her loyal subjects. But she is rich through all the trade that Tel Muthada gets for being at a good trade position.
She shares some of her richness with the people of Tel Muthada by giving them a supply of enchanted scrolls. (This will also help to keep them loayal subjects) However her grand vizier controls how this is divided and pisses off large quantities of the people of Tel Muthada by keeping most of the scrolls to himself. So most of the people want to get those back and give him a lesson.
I think I want to design two quests to do this, one to get the scrolls and one to seriously piss him off. He can't be killed, because he playes a role in the Darconis Gambit, but I'll think of something. One thing, one of the quests will involve the two gatekeepers because Aren Sinn got them mad by writing two insulting notes to them. The enchant ledger and the two notes already exist so I can use those.

Stryker and I made this one together. Arcturus is the name we took from the detailing claim, but this was possibly dated. It's supposed to be the leader of Cephorad Keep.

-----------

Through rumors you hear about a food shortage and about a Dunmer protesting right outside of a granary in town (This would have to be made). Talking to the Dunmer reveals that he is protesting the fact that none of the leaders of Tel Muthada will fund for more food. He mentions how he is interested in farming, but he does not have a farm, nor does he know how to farm.
But, he then asks you to go talk to Dathus Veralan, who is a farmer right outside of Tel Muthada. He doesn't have enough crops to support the population, however. He hints that you should try to find some funding for him.
Asking around will lead you to speak to Arcturus about funding some extra crops for Velaran, but he seems to not talk to 'commoners'.
Upon having a high Reputation OR a high rank in the Imperial Legion, he will talk to you immediately. (B)
Otherwise Arcturus will send you on a quest. (A)

(A) You are asked by Arcturus to help him undermine (is that the right word?) Llevari Telsaran. You will do this by selling false information about how Cephorad Keep and all of Tel Muthada are doing. It should appear as if Cephorad Keep is much weaker and this would mean Telsaran pays less attention to Imperial presence, and that means they can expand silently.
Upon selling this information to the Telvanni they will believe that Cephorad isn't particularly worth the effort. So they decide to back off until Cephorad gains more strength. Upon finishing this quest successfully you go to (B)

(B) Arcturus decides to give you the money. You must now go speak to Velaran again and he will say that he cannot really work on the fields alone.
You then are led back to the Dunmer outside of the granary. You can then escort him to Velaran and they will begin working on the crops.

They will then begin works on the crops. And after a certain amount of time the crops will be made and ultimately the granary will be filled more.

A few thoughts:

- How would we expand the farm? I don't know of any way to modify ground textures through scripts.

- We should work in Aren Sinn a lot more. Arcturus has no responsibility to look after people - he's just there to assert Imperial presence. The Telvanni lord is the one responsible, but it appears as though Aren Sinn runs the day to day administration of the town. The rumours seem to show he is quite unpopular because of this. Perhaps the quest could revolve around making him increase the food supply?

- There is already a slave working on Veralan Farm. Perhaps the quest could involve finding another to work there? Or if you wanted to be slave friendly, find someone to work there instead.

- It would seem that Arcturus is being blackmailed by Llevari Telseran / Aren Sinn, so I doubt he would be able to keep many secrets from them.

I sort of missed this earlier, not sure how, though.
MMMowSkwoz wrote:How would we expand the farm? I don't know of any way to modify ground textures through scripts.
Aeven had an idea to use furn_planter_04 (or something like it) for this. I'm not sure what he had in mind, otherwise, 'twould be better he explained it.

But, an idea I had for this:
Veralan once had a larger field but it was destroyed somehow, maybe the crops just died. So the texture will be there, just no plants.
That way it won't require modifying the ground texture through a script or anything, all it will need is the enabling of some initially disabled plants.
Perhaps that could be worked into the story somehow?
MMMowSkwoz wrote:We should work in Aren Sinn a lot more... Perhaps the quest could revolve around making him increase the food supply?
I don't really have that great of knowledge of the Tel Muthada residences... But would it be possible to just write Aren Sinn in the place of Arcturus? Or would that require alot (I'm sure it will require a little, at least) tweaking to make him fit in just right?
MMMowSkwoz wrote:There is already a slave working on Veralan Farm. Perhaps the quest could involve finding another to work there? Or if you wanted to be slave friendly, find someone to work there instead.
I hadn't noticed the slave when I was looking around it. But, I'd actually prefer the latter to that, it would be something different.
Or perhaps it could just be a choice of the players. He can persuade the Dunmer outside of the granary to work on the farm. Or find another slave.
MMMowSkwoz wrote:It would seem that Arcturus is being blackmailed by Llevari Telseran / Aren Sinn, so I doubt he would be able to keep many secrets from them.
I'm not sure this is so much a concern anymore if Arcturus doesn't really have a reason to be involved in this quest.

Aren Sinn is a devious Telvanni and a control freak. I designed him as a sort of 'grand vizier', you know, a totally evil, wants to be ruler himself and head servant type. Cephorad Keep is powerless in Tel Muthada, because they are blackmailed by Aren Sinn. Cephorad keep is dealt with through "the Helnim Gambit" questline.
Aren Sinn, however is hardly a part of that line so he can be dealt with through misc quests. I think a food shortage could be the first nail in his coffin, so to say.

Hmm, perhaps the farmer wants to marry the slave? (I'm not sure of the gender of the slave, perhaps change that. I doubt it's a very unique slave.) The farmer would refuse to have his new wife work for him as she did before, which also causes the dwindling of the food supply and a need for a new worker.

Guar hunting

Mavis Omoril has a slave market and he sells animals too. (not really, this was beyond my possibilities when I designed the NPC's) He brags about having caught a kagouti by himself but he has an empty cage that still needs to be filled with an animal. He asks you to fetch a guar since he needs to guard a rebellious orc slave and frankly can't be bothered to hunt for a guar.
You can go to Adosi Rothari, who lives a short distance to the northeast of Tel Muthada. She sells guars for 50 gold. Alternatively you can buy a command creature spell from Thelasa Reram, the town's healer and use that to catch a guar. If you bring a guar and talk to Mavis, the guar gets transported "magically" (with scripts) to the empty cage. He will give you the spell scroll "Call of the Beasts". (which grants you a command creature spell)

The smoking house
There is a rumor in Tel Muthada that there is a strange smell coming from Vidam Deris' house. It is pretty logical, because a bookshelve on his second floor is on fire. When you talk to Vidam, he doesn't seem to mind that much because he needs to stay at home to look after his 'stash'. (Vidam Deris runs a skooma hole and upstairs, hidden behind some crates is a storage of skooma) When you ask him further about the stash he nearly says something about skooma but then replies that it is his family jewels or some other unbelievable thing. He asks you to get a frost spell scroll from the enchanter Varden Alvis. If your have a high enough disposition with the enchanter he will give you one for free if you explain the dire need of the scroll. When you return to the house Vidam Deris asks for the scrolland if you give it he rewards you with 50 gold. But, anytime during the quest if you discover the skooma stash you can blackmail Vidam. He doesn't want this to be told to the guards so he gives you a skooma bottle as bribe. If you tell it to the guards instead, they reply in a Telvanni way: "We know he has a skooma hole and we don't care, here's 5 drakes for telling us"

The Brave and the Foolish
The two gatekeepers of the tower of Tel Muthada are a strange couple. They are brothers and one (Soren Uveran) is known to be cowardly and the other (Alaud Uveran) is known to be pretty stupid. This is a rumor in Tel Muthada and when you hear this and talk about it to Soren, he will explain that he had it. He has a plan and then noone will call him a coward again.
Surely enough, the next day a rumor goes around the town that Soren Uveran has climbed to the balcony at the top of the tower and is prepared to jump down. You should seek out Alaud Uveran who is planning to do something about it at the foot of the tower. Alaud placed some pillows there and hopes that will save his brother. Off course this won't do and Soren will jump to certain death.
The only course of action is to levitate to the balcony at the top of the tower and to reason with Soren. It turns out he wasn't planning on jumping at all, he just wanted to show he could be courageous too. Instead he wants to summon a vermai and defeat it and the climb was meant to make this clear to the people of Tel Muthada. He summons a vermai but the fight goes badly and he needs the help of the player.
If he dies Alaud will be disappointed, but won't accuse the player. If he lives Alaud will be very pleased and will give you his prized spear. Soren is glad too and gives some of his ingredients needed for his alchemy, which he won't practice anymore.

This quest is a good way to personalise the two characters Soren and Alaud Uveran, my dialogue for them isn't that good.

A Nord's Sad Song

Simund the Singer is a Nord bard who can be found in The Note in Your Eye, a tavern in Tel Muthada. He is a veteran of some sort of war in the West, possibly in High Rock.

The Note in Your Eye is run by Brelyn Dreloth, a local Dunmer. If you speak to him, and ask him about the place, he'll tell you he's had less customers recently. He blames it on Simund's sad, somewhat depressing songs he's been singing recently. The songs are about his love for a Cyrodiil woman, who is out of his league. He sings about how much he loves her, and his sorrow over never being able to get her: besides being of the upper class, she is also seeing someone else.

Brelyn asks you to deal with Simund before all customer base is driven away. Here suggests two ways of dealing with the situation: find a new bard (some asking around should lead the player to finding a young Redguard woman somewhere in the town) or finding a way of solving Simund's problem.

Speaking to Simund, he'll tell you the name of the Cyrodiil woman, Attia Saradelphin, is a young missionary at the local Imperial Cult at Cephorad Keep (new NPC). He suggests you speak with her. Attia, when asked about Simund the Singer, speaks of him kindly, and admits to being attracted to him. However, the thought of her marrying a simple Nord "barbarian", who is not only of a lower class but also worships the Nordic pantheon and rejects Talos would devastate her family and she fears she'd be shunned by her fellow countrymen. She vaguely suggests that if Simund were to convert, she'd be willing to give it a try.

If you offer this news to Simund the Singer, he gladly converts to the Imperial Cult. Attia will resign as a missionary and be present in The Note in Your Eye.

As a reward, Simund will offer the player an enchanted lute (which can be wielded as though a mace) and Brelyn offers the player a handsome some of gold. Simund's reward is only offered if the player chose to help him, otherwise only gold is given. If the player chose to kill Simund the Singer (he'd likely end up in jail for doing so) the Redguard woman is employed anyway, and the player receives no reward. As a visible indicator the quest is completed, placing some additional patrons in the establishment should do the trick.

I like Brave and Foolish, but use an actual Summons creature, not a Vermai (who's also one of the creatures I'd prefer if we swept under the collective carpet until (if) Dirnae gets us a better looking one).

Guar Hunting seems a bit weird. You yourself say you didn't give him an animal keeping role, so it's slightly out of character. Also I have no idea how practical it would be to work out if the player's brought him a guar. It's also a rather too simple/hard a quest, depending on how near the nearest guar is, and 'command and escort' is a lengthy and un-fun process. I'd rather say no to this one, unless it's substantially developed.

In The Smoking House, I don't like the idea of a burning book case that just burns indefinitely until the player steps in. The whole thing also just doesn't sound right... Would frost really put out fire without making things worse? Why is this guy fine with his plant house being on fire? I don't care if he's running a skooma den, he would notice and care! :P

Aeven, I like your quest, but we've done 'sad bard lost his muse' before in Port Telvannis. If people think it's too repetitive, I'd probably have to drop it. But what do people think?

The slave market also consists out of animal cages so it would be easy to assume the slavemarket's keeper (Mavis Omoril) would also handle the animals. And Tel Muthada is guar country. When you travel through the Helnim Fields you will see countless guars, so it is easy enough to find one, even a friendly one.

Quest idea, maybe-

This might be a little too intense for a misc.

A Mixed-Up Murder

A body was found in a back room of X's house. X is a low-ranking Telvanni intelligence analyst. Further investigation by talking to locals tells you that X was a hard worker and an honest man. One person, Y, however, gives you a complete opposite statement- that X was a heartless, greedy thief. You can either chose to:

1. Keep investigating. Search through Y's house, but you wont find anything, except a little note with an encrypted message on it. Bring it to X and he'll decipher it. A password is written on it to open a scripted chest in X's house. Inside is a bloody dagger. Either-

1a. Bring it to the guards, and arrest X. Reward is a small sum from the guard, and disp. drop from X. QUEST FINISHED.

1b. Bring the dagger to Y. He'll start talking nervously and slip up in a lie. Turns out he framed X. He'll start attacking you. Kill him, and receive money from the guards and a reward or money from X, as well. QUEST FINISHED.

2. Side with Y. He accuses X of stealing his family heirloom, an extravagant sapphire amulet with a different name. Either-

2a. Search through X's house and you'll find it somewhere of the quester's choice. Bring it back to Y, and he'll give you some cash (200g?) QUEST FINISHED.

2b. Ask X about the jewel, and he will claim fervently that it is his and always has been, and that Y has been wanting it for a while.

More choices!

2b1: Take the jewel anyway. Go to 2a. X's disp. drops.

2b2: Keep talking with X, and he will tell you he suspects Y of murdering the chap. Go to Y's house and start from 1.

This is kinda 2 quests in one, but I think it should be okay.

And yes, all quest names must have alliteration :-D[/b]

I find it odd that X would know how to decipher Y's code, or that X wouldn't be suspicious of a message that unlocks a chest in his house, or if the chest was entirely new, be suspicious of the chest itself.

It was quickly put to together, so I didn't think too deeply about the logistics of everything.

Fine, I guess you're right. So you get told by a local to visit Z, who is an intelligence dude for Telvanni. He knows how to decipher codes. He would say, "Come back in a day, I'll have it cracked by then."

The chest would be in a concealed spot, and, as the murder happened recently, he wouldn't have found it. It's a small chest, after all, so maybe under a dresser or something.

The PDF contains thevikings's fools quest, Aeven's bard and muse quest and a new quest "Sweet Vendetta".

I checked and I think Aeven's quest is different enough from the Port Telvannis quest to not seem a rehash.

So, 3 misc. quests for Tel Muthada.

This is the new quest:

Sweet Vendetta

"Annavene Selas" is an NPC in Tel Muthada (outside). She had a son, but he overdosed on Skooma. Annavene knows there must be a dealer somewhere in Tel Muthada and she wants to enact revenge. The guards don't care and just let her be.

The player can offer to help her find the dealer.

First the player has to try to find out where this dealer might be through the Tel Muthada specific topic "shady dealer". Guards don't care, standard NPCs have about 5 different random responses, 1 which is helpful, 1 which is a good hint.

The player is eventually directed towards "The Note in Your Eye" (the local inn). Brelyn Dreloth, the innkeeper will hint the player to talk to "Gadela Sadralo" (also in the inn).

Gadela Sadralo mistakes the players's topic "shady dealer" for asking for skooma. She offers the player some skooma. The player can now force her to admit who her supplier is through dialog. The player can kill her/let her go.

Gadela Sadralo will have directed the player to "Vidam Deris", who has a skooma stash upstairs. By asking a trick question or just telling him you know because of Gadela, he will confirm it, and offer you a discount if you keep things civil.

The player can now return to Annavene and tell her about Vidam. Get small reward.

Annavene will have thought for a moment, and have decided she wants you to kill Vidam Deris, but she wants him to suffer. She gives the player some kind of murderous potion.

Go to Vidam Deris. Through dialog you can either trick Vidam to drink the potion or force him (if you have enough strength). (In dialog the potion is then removed, Vidam dies).

Return to Annavene to get your reward. Afterwards you can ask Annavene if revenge has really made her happy, to which she will just look confused at the player for asking such a weird question.

Good, but don't give the player the opportunity to kill Gadela. Though, elaborate on what exactly are the options with blokey and the poison. What choices would I expect to see in the dialogue box? If the player tries to force him and fails the Strength check, they can hardly then trick him.

If there are three quests, this is ready for claiming.

If no-one else wants to I can do this after my current claim. This last quest is literaly the easiest quest I have ever made, and should be done by Friday at the least.

To avoid confusion, it's best to just claim things when you're ready, rather than put down tentative markers. Seeing as we're such an understaffed department, you're probably alright, but in principle...

Anyway, I'll grant this whenever you (or anyone) hit the button - and remember that quality and depth is preferable to speed.

Fair enough, I just thought I better warn anyone who had been planning to claim this.

I'm not kidding about this quest though. It's all dialogue exept for two scripts, one simply bumps the quest when the player has the item it's attached to, and the other makes an NPC follow the player, forcegreet, and then bumps the quest when he's dead. I'll do some more work on it now.

Speaking of which and not wanting to waste a post I've increased my progress.

That's why it would help me if you'd remove the ambiguity and press the Claim button. ;)

For the dialogue, something like this:

Topic

Oh thank you, what is it?

Choice:
It's a potion which will make you feel happy
I have a potion for you

I see... well thank you %PCName, I guess. I'll try it out later if you don't mind.

Choice:
I'd rather you'd try it out now
Sure, just take a sip to see what it's like

Oh no, that's alright. No need to rush things, eh?

Choice:
1. [Strength] Drink it. Now.
2. Of course not... It's just that I'm thinking of buying one for myself, hehe. It would be rude to drink yours so I want to know what you think.

1. What? No! What are you doing?!
Choice:
[Force drink]

2. Oh alright, fine... [Takes a tug] Hmmm... tastes interesting... Bad after taste, though.

Choice:
Yes, it does have quite the after taste
[Say Nothing]
Annavene sends her regards

Oh... I don't feel so well... ARGH! You s'wit, what did you do! [Dies]

Could I just ask which "three quests" are going to be done? From what I've read, I looks like BC only approves of the Brave and the Foolish.

Sorry about this, but I'm not the brightest of biscuits and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Also, "Friday" has been and gone twice, so is this going to be claimed by The Greatness or not?

The three quests in IP's PDF I think. It seems like quest 3 needs a little alteration, judging from BC's and IP's posts later, so keep that in mind when working on them.

I might just claim this.

I'll just do the three quests specified:

- The Brave and the Foolish
- A Nord's Sad Song
- Sweet Vendetta

It doesn't seem to be anything I can't do, and I have a lot of free time right now, so I can do this.

Hey this is just to let you know you are almost within a week of the 30-day claim update time frame.

Sorry about the slow progress. I hate it when things unexpected arise, but progress has gone up recently.

A Nord's Sad Song is pretty much done, and I've started some good work on Sweet Vendetta, but I do need some help.

I've been trying to use the same technique Bethesda did for For The Love Of A Bosmer, to try and "teleport" both the new Redguard bard and Attia into The Note In Your Eye, but it doesn't appear to be working.

Does anyone know of a way in which you can make someone appear in a different place within a number of ingame days? The teleporting seems fine, it's just I want it to occur within a number of ingame days, so does anyone know of a variable or something similar that can be used for that?

Apart from that, slow but steady progess here.

A vanilla script which you can scavenge from is WaitOneDay, which I think is to do with Yagrum Bagarn. I seem to remember it's slightly inefficient, and there are TR quests that use a better version. Some of the Telvanni quests do, but I can't remember specifics. Check in the Mainland file. (Do a text search for 'Day' in scripts, perhaps)

This one's a longshot, but it could be possible that the NPC won't teleport because, since you're not with her, her script isn't running. That'd mean that you need to wait one day, then go back to whatever location she was in first, at which point she'll be moved to the Note In Your Eye. To circumvent this, run the script that moves her as a global script, or have her script/dialogue set a day variable on a hidden activator in the Note In Your Eye. The script on the activator should check if a day has passed, and if it has, move the NPC on cellchange.

Good to hear there is progress :)

I've finished A Nord's Sad Song and playtested it, so here it is.

As for Sweet Vendetta, things are going fine but I do need to ask how to do random responses. I know I should probably already know this, but I'm not the brightest of people (if that wasn't obvious already).

So hurrah to progress!

If you want to make random responces use the global Random100. So for example in one dialogue responce you could use the condition Random100>50, so it will appear half the time.

Sweet Vendetta has been completed, I think.

But when it comes to THe Brave and The Foolish, i just need to say that there's no shortage of balconies on Tel Muthada, so which one do you mean?

Anyway, more huzzahs to progress!

Never mind, I've started progress on Brave and the Foolish on a balcony I think is suitable.
Progress is actually going really well, here. I love learning stuff about questing for Morrowind on my own.

But I must say that the "Soren Uveran conjures a creature (which I have made a Daedroth if that's alright) and then starts attacking it" combo is a little bit beyond me, so if I could make a bit of assistance with that, that would be great.

Should be done in about a week's time, if not, less.

Make him cast a summon spell with the Cast command, then use StartCombat and him and his summon should start attacking, if it's alright for him to be attacking too. If you want just the summon to attack you could Enable a creature next to him and get that to attack, and create a dummy spell for him to cast, but then you lose the effect of a summon appearing.

You won't be able to StartCombat him and his summon, because you won't have the ID of the summoned creature (because it won't be unique). So, you'll have to Enable a creature next to him instead. If you make the summoning happen during dialogue, then it won't seem quite as odd missing out on the summoning animation. Alternatively you could make it so he has 'already done' the summoning by the time the player reaches him on the balcony, and he and his creature are sitting there waiting for the fight to begin.

Finally, I'd advise not making it a Daedroth, because with their massive spells of death they'll butcher the guy within seconds. Make it a Dremora instead.

Also, in case you had done, don't do the thing with the pillows. Just have his brother down there trying to catch him.
