Weajiin's Modeling Showcase
This summer was supposed to be the summer that I get a job. However a rare visit to my sister's house and an inattentive grandmother have left me with an abundance of spare time "/.
How can I help?
**EDIT**
I realize messages like this are most common.
Here is what I can do to help:
-Spend a lot of time improving a favorite!
-Interior and exterior cells.
-Literature.
-Quests.
-Scripting.
-Modeling (Blender).
-Animation is a maybe.
I'm not saying that my skills are sufficient for any area of TR, I'm not that they aren't. If you are feeling underhanded in an area of the project, I would be more than willing to focus on a certain aspect.
***EDIT 2***
Well then, modeling it is.
Thank you for the replies.
I'll work on something and get it in here.
***EDIT 3***
Alright, I have a start.
Its a modeling showcase, and its probably flawed but I would like someone to look at it nonetheless.

- I don't have the Morrowind disk with me so I'm not sure if it works in-game yet. I did get it into the cs though?

When it hurts, place two fingers around it and squeeze. When the pain comes, squeeze harder. When your fingers slip, get a better angle. When it projects itself all over your mirror, yell to your cousin. Show him all the white shit that came out.
Hi there! Even if we are not really underhanded, it doesn't mean that we're overhanded either. Help is always welcome and appreciated! However, in order to partake in our effort, you must first create a showcase and post it here in the Showcase forum to show us your skills. What would be the category in which you are the strongest?

Re: Jobless E-hobo looking for passtime!
We just so happen to be underhanded in the modeling department. If you can model well then we can definitely put you to use. Whichever field you choose to focus on you'll need to submit a piece of your work for review in your own showcase thread (I'm sure an admin can rename this one for you if needs be).weajiin wrote:Here is what I can do to help...

There is some pretty bad texture-stretching on the bottom of the chest. I would also like to see something a bit more complex/detailed.

What all do you have experience doing? Architecture, creatures, weapons/armor, misc. objects?

Hello, weajiin. I just took a look at this showcase. It's not bad for starters, but it'll still need quite a bit of work to be of acceptable quality.
First of all: what modeling program do you use? This is just handy to know.
Secondly, the model's surface is separated into many unconnected strips. This means the shading will not work well, having a very odd, faceted look because you cannot smooth it out.
On the whole, it is a little devoid of detail. The handles are just cubes, for example. The sides of the chest are otherwise very bland as well. On the other hand, there's quite a few vertices (on the lid, on the bottom etc.) that add no detail, but still needlessly raise the polycount.
It doesn't help that the texture has no detail whatsoever. This makes it seem quite boring. The only detail you did add was the Daedric text on the lid, which in all its glaring redness would probably be considered 'uber', rather than tasteful here. Like Haplo said, the texture doesn't seem to be mapped onto the bottom at all. Granted, most of the time chest will sit with that side on the floor. However, it's an awfully small fix and it will be tremendously useful in case a model like this happens to not be entirely flat on the ground.
If you'd like to another object, I'd advise trying something that is not a weapon. Weapons are usually the favorite object of beginning modelers. Unfortunately, they don't really show a lot of creative skill. (How different can one sword look from the next?)

I used blender for the model, i was more or less just trying to get a foot in the door. It is severly lacking in detail i can admit to that. Unfortunately i am not very good with textures as you can tell. I'll try something related to architechture.

Well I do. I come from a forum where there's a post every 7 seconds and at least a few thousand active users, so joining this one with only 100-200 is kinda weird for me.Thrignar Fraxix wrote:yes you should bump this
