We haven't had anything newsworthy since the last news update, but we will soon.

If I didn't know better I'd think the same thing, but seeing as this kind of thing has already happened several times since I've been here I don't sweat it anymore.
Work of this quality takes a long long time
Edit: I am sad to hear that the blog is down though; I was not aware.

From one non-modder fan of this project to another, I'd like to cosign the notion that everything you could possibly need to follow day-to-day progress here - without being in the know on certain things - can be found within the forums. At the risk of making an utter ass of myself, let me see if I've got even a rudimentary understanding of where this project stands.
Map 1: This needs more of the Telvanni faction questline (currently on hold while being redeveloped though Adanorcil is actively on that aspect) plus the final round of bug/visual fixes.
Map 2: Misc quests for Marog and Tel Muthada, faction quests (and those might wait until a future release), and the first round of bug/visual fixes.
Map 3: Once Necrom is finished (and there are only about two or three interiors left), and the other pieces detailed, an unquested version can be released.
Now, I'm almost positive I either forgot something significant or there are other details being worked out behind the scenes I wouldn't be privy to. Hell, until today I hadn't even registered (and I never use their irc channel if I'm even allowed to), which means all my info was gleaned from checking the claim threads about once every other day. The point, however, is that one can follow along even in the most passive sense and see progress.
I do have a suggestion though since I can understand the mentality of someone learning about TR, checking the site, seeing no real updates since the New Year, thinking the project's stalled or worse, and moving on. Would it be possible to have a constant news post encouraging people to check the forums for the daily work? Or, barring that, would it be possible to do a state of the union type post, once every six months, just explaining what you've done in that time and what you'd like to do?
Thanks for your time.

The last news update was less than six months ago, detailing my promotion.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to join our irc channel and have a chat. In fact, I'd recommend it if your intention is to join the project as a promoted modder, it allows for much faster feedback than the forum ever could.
One more thing, our next release will have misc quests for all of the new land, in response to feedback that it's nice to have quests to do rather than just the land and npcs to talk to. Any new questlines completed by the point of merge will be included too (I think there's a couple ready, like the Helnim Imperial Cult).

Yes, you're right. I should have amended my post. I meant there hasn't been a front page news post detailing specifics about Tamriel Rebuilt in over six months. But it's for neither here nor there. The intent was a suggestion on limiting people coming to the forums with the sole mindset of asking if the project's still alive when it quite clearly is. I know it's moot now because you guys are getting close with work on Maps 2 and 3. I was thinking more for in the future, the next time there's a long stretch between releases.
Thank you for the invite to irc, and I didn't know it was public. I wouldn't want to waste anyone's time there though. I've been following TR since 2004, and the only services I can offer are writing/editing and voice acting, two things that don't appear to be needed at the moment (or at all in the last few years). I've thought about adding to the TR wiki, which is still incomplete in parts. I've got a detailed list on every interior (non-residential) from Map 1 for my own private use, and a partially finished one for Map 2, as well as a quest log (for both quick and detailed walkthroughs). Again though, not sure where my footing is with regard to permission.
Lastly, thanks also for the update. Didn't know Map 3 would initially release with town misc quests. I appreciate it.

The gaps between future releases should be a lot shorter than this current one, Necrom has been an insanely annoying thorn in the side that I'll be glad to see finally done >.>
The exteriors and interiors for much of the Heartland and Almalexia releases are fairly close to completion already. The only other sticking point I can currently think of has been Old Ebonheart, but that's two releases away so it should be sorted out in time.

I heard Haplo say somewhere that Almalexia would be a seperate release. However, it seems it may be done well in advance of Necrom. Maybe we should release Necrom seperately instead? Although all these bloody map 2 quests are going to take a while as well.
Warning: may contain large amounts of sarcasm.
Myzel- We never actually see slaves working on Vvardenfell either. They're always just standing there. If you ask me they deserve a good whipping.

For a short while there was actually serious discussion as to what to do if almalexia was done before the sacred east. Necrom has just taken that long.
Edit: Ninja'd by the Greatness who doesn't appear to know what he is talking about. Almalexia is a release, as is Heartland, as is Sacred East. Necrom really largest obstacle to getting sacred east released and it is pretty much ready to enter the NPC phase.

What? I though Sacred East was the release name for map 3! I wish you made these release plans a bit more clear. So Sacred East is going to be the rest of old map 2 and the top of map 3? That makes Necrom even more in the way.
I think I know what was confusing me actually. I used to leave map 3.76 on while playing Morrowind so I had a nice border, distant land and map, but recently I switched to Cathartis' Map 3 merge. However, the map must have failed to update so I could still see the rest of old Map 3.
All in all, my head hurts.

You could try reading the news threads. The thread "On Future Releases" is pretty close to the top and explains everything. The file in my thread was only called Map3merge because it was easier to type and I was in a hurry. The Greatness wrote:What? I though Sacred East was the release name for map 3! I guess I'll just stick to working on low-level claims I neither understand nor am able to fully contemplate.

Please, please do! I've been trying to get more of it complete over the past few days but there are still over 600 stubs, and a lot of detail needs adding to other articles too.Haplo wrote: Please, feel free to add to or update the UESP Wiki entry on our mod.
