Tamriel Rebuilt Starcraft II Party

Post by Haplo »

So we have a thread like this every once in a while for various popular games; I think it's obvious Starcraft II is probably the most popular game to now have had one of those threads. I played Starcraft when I bought it in 1998 and loved it (and Brood War) up until just a while ago when I got Starcraft II.

Needless to say, Starcraft II is FUCKING AWESOME. And I hope lots of people here play it. In fact, I hope lots of people here want to get together and create a "Party" to play together sometime, whether it be a 4v4 TR match or just two TR modders playing together and whatnot.

My Battle.net ID is HaploBartow, and this is a call to all TR Modders to 1) buy StarCraft II, and 2) get together for some awesome online play.

Here are all the TR profiles. Post yours to get it added here:

I think we're gonna need your character code too, Haplo. Stupid RealID. And I take it you play on the american servers?

I dunno what a character code is, but I know it's not necessary to add a friend. And yes, I play on North American servers.

My motherboard was made at a soviet gulag camp. I don't think SC II will run on my machine.

SCII minimum requirements are actually really low. For example, you only need 1GB of RAM, a 2.6GHz processor, and a GeForce 6600/Radeon 9800.

Do you need to pay any kind of subscription? Some sources suggest you do, but it's never made clear anywhere. If you don't, I'll buy it. If you do, I won't. Well, if you do need to pay, how much is it?

I don't know what prices are everywhere; it was $50 or $60 when it was released, I can't remember. You do not need a subscription to play. The only Blizzard game that requires a monthly subscription fee is WoW.

No subscription? Oh excellent. I am definitely getting this game. Not cheap though, it must be said, especially since there are going to be two expansions which will probably be full price.

I saw it at a local store and it was $59.99. Too expensive for me at the moment, but I'll make sure to get it once there's a price drop.

$50 to $60? If that's in US money, that's still a complete bargain compared to the $140 NZ bullshit we have around here.

The cheapest I can find here is £34.99, which is roughly US$5,000,000,000.

35 British Pounds is equivalent to 55 US dollars.

$140 in NZ (I assume you use AUD in New Zealand) is ridiculous, I'm sorry for your troubles there :-/

I haz teh game! And it is indeed bloody excellent. I've done a bit of practice, and a bit of online, but I'm a bit rubbish, having lost my first three placing matches. My online name is, for all interested, TheGreatness (I basically use that name for everything game releated). I'm up for a few friendly matches.

No, we don't use AUD in New Zealand... hang on, I'll find a USD-NZD converter.

Yeah, $140 NZ is $100 US.

OTRawrior 996, I'm a regular in the SC2 communities despite the fact that I am silver and know nothing about the game :D I'm pretty sure that you need name + ID or just email to add a friend.

I know that when they introduce cross region play you will be able to but at the moment I don't seem to be able to add US friends.

I heard that the expos will be cheaper. They are just expansions after all, not a new game, not sure though :/

You need to work on your translation skills. $100 US is not 80,000 Euros, it's just under 78 euros.

Yep, Euro severs. Now all we need is some more people to get it so we can have some inter-departmental battles, or inter-regional play so we can have a SC2 Ryder Cup.

Okay, it's not really sarcasm. More 'exaguration for comic effect'. Still, did you seriously think that I thought that £35 pounds was 5 billion dollars :P ?

I think the correct term is Hyperbole:

exaggeration: deliberate and obvious exaggeration used for effect, e.g. "I could eat a million of these"

I'd say that a hyperbole is something like biggest or most, not an increase in a number. And that definition you gave is hilariously useless, seeing as it describes exaggeration as exaggeration.

How do you do that Pac-man smiley???

EDIT: Yesssss. :v

The price of games is around $120 for a new PC game here in Australia..but eh, if it's worth it, I suppose I don't mind playing. I usually get some killer deals when I go over to the UK which end up being about $70 cheaper. W00t!

It's not describing exaggeration. That first exaggeration is just the first part of the definition of hyperbole right here: http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861619556/hyperbole.html

But now we're getting hilariously off topic

Oh right. That's not the definition of hyperbole I'm used to at all.

By the way, you can add friends by e-mail, facebook or Name and ID. To see the ID click on "Add Friend" and it will have the 3 numbers there. So although you do not need the code to add someone, you do need it when in conjunction to the username.

Great! I was a Starcraft player too, but not with broodwars, because I had the feeling that the expansion was ridiculously light in terms of content. But I could be mistaken, I was 14 when it came out :p.
Anyway, the price in France should be.. oh wait! on strike.
Well should be the same as in Belgium. Still too high for me ATM, but I'll manage to get it in a few months I think. I really hope they made a good work with the background and funny details. I can still recall that video with the beer can stuffed nuclear bomb coolbox.
