Jonaman8' Showcase
Hi everybody,
Your mods are great, so I wanted to help. I have little to no experience, but have made some mods by myself (mostly just for things I found annoying). I have an account at the TESNexus under the same name. I hope I can help you guys a little in completing Morrowind.
To see what mods I made, click the link.

Jonaman, we have different departments for which you can apply, generally most people start with interiors, but we also have the exterior, questing, modelling and art departments.
Each have different requirements, so let us know what you want to apply for, and we can give you the requirements to apply for modder in that specific department(s).

Apart from the stickies, immortal wrote this in my showcase:PoisonUnagi wrote: Speaking of which, I forgot to ask what the questing requirements are. What are they?
And Why later said:More questers, awesome.
You could take a look at some of the recent quest showcases (alex25, The Greatness) to get a general idea of how a questing showcase is done.
You will need to know how to do dialog and journals, and maybe a little scripting depending on what you want to do.
For dialog I'd recommend Srikandi's dialog tutorial, for scripting try Morrowind Scripting for Dummies.
The criteria are to make it short & sweet. One or two quests with inventive dialog and some scripting.
However customarily we require quests with multiple possible endings for showcases, and I'd like to see something like a choice menu or an NPC AI package change somewhere so that I know you can work with the slightly more complex stuff too.

I finished my mod. It adds a quest, including dialogue, journal entries, two new NPC's, two new interior cells (Unknown Tomb and Llaala Ienith's hut), two changed exteriors (Grazelands 9,5 and Falensarano (both of them just added an entrance to the interiors)), 2 (simple) scripts and some items. All those things are needed for the quest. I cleaned it using TESAME and freed it using TESDTK (originally it required Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon and TR_Data, but now you only need Morrowind) but I removed it from the name (otherwise it would have been Clean Clean Clean Clean Clean Free Clean Clean Clean Clean Clean Jonaman8' Showcase). I tested it a couple of times, failure and accomplishment. I need someone who's main language is English to search for typos because it's not mine and this was only my first year English at school.
PS: What does bumping a file means because I've seen it on some showcases and I don't know what it means.

Good luck
Actually your showcase should be dependent on MW, tribunal and Bloodmoon, and it is recommended to use TR_Data as well.Jonaman8 wrote:(originally it requierd Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon and TR_Data, but now you only need Morrowind
After a week if nobody has looked at your file you can make a post to get your showcase some attention.PS: What means bumping a file, cause I've seen it on some showcases and I don't know what it means.

Why does it have to depend on all the files, if it only needs morrowind and I only used morrowind things it is compatible with all the rest?
Edit: Added Tribunal, Bloodmoon and TR_Data to Master Files
PS: Ok OTRaw, I will edit in the future

If you tell me how and where to start the quest I'll have a look. I'm not sure if I have the ability to reccomend you for promotion yet, but I can give you full feedback.

Just go to Falensarano and enter Llaala Ienith's hut (you can go there by walking, if you have the master index you can go there by folms mirel (or whatever his name is) in the caldera mages guild or using the console, however I don't know how the console works because I don't have it). Talk to Llaala Ienith and the greetings, dialogues and quest entries will show the rest.
PS: Thanks that you want to test my mod.

Right, I've played through the quest. Before I begin I ought to mention you don't 'have' the console, to open press the key to the left of '1'. And I don't mind testing your showcase at all, it's no problem; people tested mine so I may as well do the same.
Right, down to my first review:
1. I caught a few misspellings and grammatical errors. There's nothing to bad but you should read through everything carefully. I'll list the mistakes:
-'take him back to me' should be 'bring him back to me'. It just makes more sense.
-You spelt 'entomed' instaid of 'entombed'- I know you can spell this because you spelt Unkown Tomb right, so you need to check carefully.
-'2 keys of it' would make more sense as '2 keys for it', and 'two' would be better than '2'.
-A journal entry reads 'I reported the dead of Tedril.' it should be 'I reported the death of Tedril.'
2. A lot of the dialogue is also too basic. For example, the first thing llaala says to you is simply 'Hello %PCRace, can you help me by saving my husband? His name is Tedril Ienith.' She sounds very calm about it, and about asking a stranger, and in general it isn't very believable. Other bits are better (like Tedril's greeting is very good), but you will need to make sure you can make consistently realistic dialogue.
3. The name of the quest isn't very clear. Call it something like 'Finding Tedril' or something like that that sets out the content of the quest, lets the player find it quickly and is a bit more interesting.
4. Why does Llaala ask you to pick the key up of the table, and why does she have two? Just make her give you the key. It's little things like this that make a quest much smoother and more enjoyable.
5.On a similar note, Llaana seems to know a lot about Unknown Tomb, but doesn't give you any directions or mark it on your map. I was lucky to stumble on it.
6.Llaala and Tedril could do with some better greetings and topic during the quest. They both use vanilla topics while being rescued from caves and waiting for their husbands return, and even after the quest Llaana and Tedril say very little for thanks.
7. It's not obvious how you're meant to complete the quest. My first expectation was to talk to Llaana as soon as I returned, but she failed to acknowledge Tedril's presence. Maybe Tedril could point you to Llaana, but you shouldn't have to talk to him first for her to respond.
8. The story doesn't make much sense. At the beginning it is said that Tedril went to Unknown Tomb to find some food, which in itself seems odd, and it is never explained why he thought there would be food there, why he suddenly left, and how he managed to get himself trapped in a room with an armada of skeletons outside.
However, the bigest problem is that this quest is too simple to get you promotion to TR. The quest is a little short and somewhat generic. Even if all the above problems where fized it still wouldn't be enough to get you promotion, so I would reccomend starting again. Begin by thinking carefully through your story, and thinking how you can use the story to showcase your skills.
This quest was almost entirely dialogue based, which would be fine if you had good dialogue with multiple endings and a solid story. On the other hand if you think you can make good scripts, show them off and make a few snazzy scripts we can admire. That's the essential point of a showcase, to show off what you can do and convince us that you should join TR, as well as learning the nessicary skills while doing it. Bear in mind also, that you don't need to make new interiors or anything, just use vanilla ones. Much easier.
I realise my review may sound rather negative, which it's not intended to be. The content you have made is fairly solid, and if the rather minor issues I listed above were fixed, we'd have a perfectly good miscalleunous quest. However, it's not enough to get promoted through and has a few faults. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you're next attempt, just give us some more content, take into consideration my points above and you would do very well in the TR team. If you're not sure how big your quest needs to be look at some people who have been recently promoted like mine or alex25's. Also why not take a look at some tutorials if you really want to show off. Good luck and happy modding!

Thanks for the review.
I am now working on some scripts, and maybe I am going to make a little quest about it just to give the scripts a little bit more sense.
PS: I really don't have the console, I can press the button left to the 1 (which is in my case the button with ² and ³) as many times as I want, but the console doesn't show up. Maybe it is because my keyboard is azerty? I don't know.

I know that I haven't posted a long time because I've been very busy. I wanted to let you know that I'm once again trying to get promoted. This time I'm making a quest to get Hopesfire and Trueflame upgraded through Vivec. You will have to gather some items, not guarded by monsters, but by items with scripts. I don't know if I should make another way for people who killed Vivec or kill him during the quest?
PS: I know how to activate the console, I have to disable a device, but the problem is: each time I shut down the PC, the device re-installs itself and I can't uninstall it myself because I don't have administrators rights on the PC.

I finished the mod. Just talk to Vivec about Almalexia and if you have both Hopesfire and Trueflame in your inventory, the quest will start. You have to travel a bit, but to make it faster, I made an interior cell called Jonaman8 Test Cell. This includes the three script objects so you can test them separate from the quest (I know they're floating, but that's so you can see them better :p), and three doors leading to Vivec's palace and two locations needed for the quest. You can travel there using the console. I know greetings need to be in Greeting 5, but they are in Greeting one because all Vivec's standard greetings are in Greeting 1. I tested the quest multiple times, but if I missed something or I can improve something, please tell me. It is cleaned with TESAME.

I'll try and take a look at this soon. MSam's doing infernal's and I reviewed your last one so I'll review this soon hopefully. I'll see if I find time over the weekend.

yeah, I don't quite get it either. None of this matters though if this showcase doesn't actually get a review. (Not that it really matters anyway)

(sorry about this going off-topic)
Uh, PoisonUnagi, it's probably advantageous to everyone if you just kept any irrelevant snipes to yourself.
Jonaman8, I would have reviewed your quest, but I really don't think I'm in a position yet to assess anyone else's material since I'm only new to the project. The only reason I'm looking at Infernal's is because at the time you didn't have a file posted, and he hadn't received any replies (which I'm sure you know, feels pretty depressing). Again, sorry you've had to wait so long - but you're in good hands with OTRaw now.

Good hands? Heh, I haven't even finished a claim yet But I've done a couple of reviews so here it goes.
Clean: Squeaky
Dependencies: Perfect
Load Errors: None
Regarding greetings, I agree that it was the right thing to do.
I got my TR_Test skull, got my gear, COCed to the test cell and got stuck in a wall :/ Not a huge deal though.
So here's the problems I found.
1. "the Blade of Nerevar and its twin, Hopesfire" is a loooong topic, try to pick keywords and use them instead. Same with the journal name.
2. "I would read som sort of historical book"
3. lay his power into Hopesfire and Trueflame to make them eaven stronger
4. "made them stronger, faster and more energetic and hotter."
5. You forgot to say that they were made "harder, better, faster, stronger" (don't take that seriously )
6. Your bed made a Bonewalker not a werewolf. I assume that the sword and bed were just to show scripting? They seemed to have no relevance to the quest.
7. "Thank you, I wanted that I could keep them myself, but you deserve them. Here you go."
8. "If that is what you want, come back when you changed your mind." I may be wrong but I think there should be a "have" between you and changed.
9. "How are they going allong?"
Not a huge amount to say on this one, the sword scripting was quite nice, as was the god's potion.
Ideally the quest should have two distinct endings, you probably want to show you understand the TR naming conventions and to fix the errors above.
So nice quest, a few grammar errors but mostly good. If I was you I would wait to see The_Greatness's review before re-submitting this, he's been doing it longer than me

BTW, my name has no underscore. Just so you know.
I should be able to do some reviews now, part of the reason I wasn't doing any reviews was because my main character accidentaly caught Corprus (seriously). A weak excuse I know :/. But anyway, I'm sure we can trust your reviews, but if you want I'll look at further versions. The three strikes rule isn't set in stone for quests like it is for interiors, so you can probably go ahead and make another version if you want Jonaman.

I will fix the errors. About the bed, it can spawn a werewolf. It can also spawn corprus beasts, atronach's and some other creatures. Yes, the scripts were just to show off. I don't know if you noticed, but if you Alchemy is 50 or higher, the effects of the Drink will really apply, without poison. What's not cleaned?

I think everything was clean. OTRaw mentioned it was "Squeaky" clean, which is to say "clean".

Here's the new file, named everything, fixed some bugs you didn't see , the grammatical errors, the long topics and the Test Cell. I don't see what's wrong with
