Hello, somebody told me to make a shwcase for my 3D models. But I just made a few rocks yet, cause me is new here in this forum. I wanted to asks if I maybe can be 3D modeler here. I'm still beginner with Blender, but my bf is very very good with it yet and he learns me some tricks. :) Oh, well here are the models i has made sofar.

first off, let me just say that we can't promote for screenshots.

Anyone can be a modeler if they take the time to go through the process and learn the works. (In fact, we wish more people would do this)

Uploading them here is a good idea. At least that way anybody with modelling knowledge can comment and give advice.

first off, let me just say that we can't promote for screenshots.
But I don't find it wrong to start with screenshots.

I say this because you make it sound like she made some mistake and also as I told her before to post her screenshots. I agree we should get actual meshes eventually.

@Almilexia:
It's great to see that you are already capable of making meshes from scratch and texturing them. That is the basic requirement really. As you are moreover familiar with making 2D-graphics I assume you are also able to make decent textures for your models which is very important too.

Now to get promoted, you'll have to show that you can make your models from concept drawings since that is how we work for the most part. Also try to stay close to the models from the original game style-wise. Don't worry too much about about that point however as we will give you pointers if things still need to be changed in order to achieve that. :P

The important thing really is that you are able to implement concept drawings as they are made by nice people like Myzel or Nalin :D Edit: Or Gnober. nah, just bugging.

But for now let's have a look after your rock-meshes..

Thx Worsas you very helpful ;), but all is fine now, have upload rock model now and the texture. Ooops, I have used it for my own little mod, but you can s till have it or I mak a new one if you doesn't like to have the same. :)

Alright, I've had a glance at your model, I had to change the texture-paths though as those were pointed at a texture I did not have.

But apart from that, I've got to say that your work looks pretty good.

-Amount of polygons is adequate.
-It's got vertex-color (very good)
-I haven't noticed any texture-stretches.
-Interesting shape.

Perhaps the rock is a bit small yet. It should be scaled up when used ingame IMO.

Good job.


The next thing that'd be good to see is a model of yours consisting of several textures. Just something more complex really. If you were to base your next model on some existing concept art, it would be the best. Though, I'm not sure what piece of concept art you should take for that.

Maybe someone else but me can give you a recommendation.

Glad you likes it. :) I had uploaded the rock and texture on megapload, but when i upload it her i must forgot the texture.

It's a good idea someone tells me which concept i do, cause i see so many i don't know what to chose. You can give me a more difficult one than that r ock. I become pretty good with Blender, because doing a lot of training last week. :)

What kind of model would I haveto do, so i can become a TR modder ?(

I did quite a few models before I was promoted, but my advice would be to try making some of the objects from this claim:

Making these objects will show that you can follow the instructions and that you are able to make a model from concept art. Just take your time and have fun making some models, then you will probably be promoted sometime soon...

Yeah, I think that is the only thing available at the moment... Mushrooms always seem to be needed... When Deshaan Plains have models available for claiming it will hopefully be completely different, although I have grown kind of fond of mushrooms... Good luck with the modeling, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with...
