I use blender, it works perfectly, but if you are rich or know the shady sites of the Internet, 3dmax and Maya can be used too...
If you need some help with blender and mesh making, this site is a good resource: http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender
It is also there you can download the nif exporter.
Of course you can also always ask here if you need help with something specific... Good luck, making models is great fun when you get past the learning difficulties...
Edit: This site is has some pretty good blender tutorials http://www.blendercookie.com some are a bit advanced, though

I haven't tried any other program than Blender, but it works perfectly well, and I would recommend using it...sentakai wrote:which one would be the best/most efficient to use with MW?
If you have downloaded the .zip version of the Nif tools, you need to put the files from the scripts folder into Blender/.blender/scripts then everything should work. You can also just click the .bat file or download the installer instead. In blender go to File, Import, NetImmerse/Gambryo then a window should pop up and you should be able to navigate to the file you want to import.Mizoda_The_Warmonger wrote: How do I get the .nif files into blender? I have the nif tools stuff, but I still cant figure it out

Blender and max have the best exporters. If you're looking to do this for fun and mods only, I'd get blender, since its free. Blender's interface is notoriously difficult, but eventually you get a hang of it. If you're looking to go professional eventually, I'd obtain 3DS max. I think max is easier to use, but thats just my opinion.sentakai wrote:which one would be the best/most efficient to use with MW?

With regard to interface, the new Blender 2.5 is a big leap forward.Lady Nerevar wrote:Blender and max have the best exporters.
