Series Five's Interior Showcase

Post by SeriesFive »

Hey Folks,

up until now I have spend a great time in exploring the released TR Maps. Now I would like to contribute to this project.

So without any further ado...here's my interior showcase for reviewing...:)

Cheers

This shop is pretty awesome. I'm pretty sure there's all sorts of restrictions on how many lights you can have and how close together they are, but I'd totally be willing to forego them all just to be able to visit this crazy place :P Good luck!

thanks zhukant :)

i really appreciate that you took the time and had a look!

this is something that obviously can't be implemented as an interior into TR for example. i made it just as an exercise and I believe there are some really awesome lights in MW that I just wanted to show off together :)

...also I just saw a wonderful old shop for lamps die in my neighbourhood. I remember I first visited it as a kid and I loved the slighty surreal feeling of wandering through rooms full of so many lamps and lights ;)

so...in a way my little shop is a remembrance piece for me...

Well I'm not even a modder, so don't resubmit anything until someone finally reviews yours (I don't understand why they haven't yet haha) but from what I can see, and this is pretty small,

A couple candles on the bench across from the counter are floating a little, and one of them is bleeding into the bench a little.

I think you forgot to turn the orange lantern on the bottom shelf of the bookshelf to match the furniture.

Same thing with the lantern on the bench by the door - you rotated it but one of its little feet is floating off the bench.

The cloth on the stool by the bed might be bleeding the tiniest bit into tho stool, but that might be a good thing.

You didn't rotate the two flasks and the candle on the shelf above the head of the bed upstairs.

You have style mixing with the lanterns, obviously (including Ashlander stuff which I got railed for) but your objective was to demonstrate all the lights so that's to be expected.

I dunno this seems pretty flawless to me :) Aside from the excessive lighting, of course, which I think is pretty awesome. I hope somebody with experience looks at this soon.

By the way, have you been by IRC? You should say hi.

Just had a look at your showcase:

-there's a small amount of style mixing in the bedroom. The pitcher and goblet by the bed and com when they should be de in a hlaalu house, same goes for the closet (I'm fairly sure there's a de_p closet or wardrobe). This rule doesn't apply to the planter opposite because that's redware style and Bethesda labeled some (but not all) redware items as com for no apparent reason. The com lights in the shop can probably stay too.
-speaking of the lights, it would probably be a good idea to replace as many of these lights as possible with a 64 radius or off version, otherwise this part of the interior will be over-brightly lit.
-Light_De_Lantern_01white on the bench in the hall is floating slightly on its eastmost foot
-3 of the candles on the opposite bench are floating ever so slightly

Other than that, this looks really quite good, nice concept. Fix the errors I mentioned and post a new file, and you should be ready for a recommendation!

Here's my new and corrected file:

Upstairs:
- changed the -com objects to -de. I had some twiddle-twaddle fun-time with the baskets on the closet afterwards ;)

Downstairs:
- corrected the floating candles / lantern

- I changed all candles and lanterns to 64 radius or off (just left the sconces at 77) and boy what a difference...I really should have thought of this myself...thanks for the advice!

I hope I don't have to exchange the com lights because the silver and ashl lights then would have to go too...would be a shame and reduce the variety I aimed for a lot...

I'm sorry SeriesFive. It has been some time you have had to wait and you have done the proper thing not bumping every two days. I will give this a proper review later tonight.
And that's how you get to Llama School.

Review Time

light_de_lantern_01_off bleeding into bookshelf
light_de_candle_11_64 bleeding slightly
light_de_candle_13_Off bleeding slightly
light_de_candle_12_64 bleeding slightly
light_de_candle_ivory_64 needs better x rotation to fit the surface.
misc_com_basket_01 is bleeding
misc_com_bottle_11 floats slightly
misc_de_foldedcloth00 bleeds slightly
TRLight_Com_Chandelier_03_L_64 is awkward, there are models with shorter ropes that wouldn't need to bleed through the ceiling like this. It doesn't look right with that thin rope through the roof.

You fixed the errors Cat mentioned and maybe went a bit far the other way with a few of them. Overall this is a good interior. Some of the items you have placed wont really be visible in game (shoes under the closet, bottle under the bed, and a couple other things) but the point of this is to see if you can make nice things and rotate properly which you can. Your errors are all very minor and would be fixed by someone like me in the reviewing stage.

I give you my recommendation for interior modder. I think you have the stuff to make interesting interiors for TR, now it's time for TF to give it a look.
And that's how you get to Llama School.

Thank you all :)

...and especially Catharsis and SamirA for taking the time to review!

I'm quite eager to do some stuff and will hopefully prove myself worthy ;)
