Heartland
About a month ago, we had our last exterior claim for Heartland reviewed, and then merged. This means another release 'area' with finished exteriors! The next stage, which we're in now, consists of checking the borders of all the separate claims and making sure everything flows smoothly, and looks like a cohesive mod, instead of a patchwork mod.
Once we're finished bug-checking, we'll do a broad sweep of detailing for any areas that need polishing, and then it's on to the next stage in modding at TR: NPCs and Dialogue!
Heartland is our most diverse map yet. It offers Ashlands, Grazelands, Ascadian Isles, West Gash, BM, and more! In addition to the variation of regions, the terrain and landscapes are among the most varied and breathtaking vistas you'll find anywhere in Morrowind. Look for more news soon!

Mostly Hlaalu, but Redoran and Indoril also have territory there.

Sacred East (the one with Necrom) is still the next one to come out. All that is completed with Heartland is the exteriors; interiors, NPCs and misc quests are yet to be finished.

Heartland actually comes after the Almalexia release, which is currently in the early stages of NPCing and detailing.

Its mentioned in the OP about looking like a patchwork mod. When running around map 1&2 with MGE with a high view distance you can clearly see what you mean. Don't get me wrong I do like them.
I had a run round the alpha map that was linked to on the officials a while back and it looks a lot more professional and I was hugely impressed. I'm just curious. Is there going to be any further work on the exteriors of map 1 & 2 to make it look a little more cohesive?
Anyway, keep up the great work everyone. Can't wait to see what you have in store for future releases.

One of the biggest problems with Map1 & Map2 is IMO the inconsistent use of vertex shading, which makes former claim borders clearly visible in some areas. Repainting those places (not whole claims, but some of the borders) would greatly improve the quality of the exteriors, and wouldn't be to much time consuming (compared to remaking the whole area, for example), so I hope someone might find time to fix those things in the future.
Sounds like it would be well worth doing.Nerano wrote:One of the biggest problems with Map1 & Map2 is IMO the inconsistent use of vertex shading, which makes former claim borders clearly visible in some areas. I exported a vertex colour map of Vvardenfell and Bloodmoon to find these colours out ages ago, it helped out a lot with making my Amanita mod look cohesive compared to vanilla.
Having a set list of vertex colors will certainly help when we touch up those areas.

Sacred east?
what's the status on Sacred East? what else needs to be done? I'm moderately experienced with modding and would like to help as much as possible
