Those scenes look very Morrowindy.
Everyone knows or can see that you are an accomplished modeller, and I don't have any complaints or suggestions in that department.
Edit: Thanks for deciding to get involved!

Re: Vurt's Showcase
The screens contain way too much flora for Deshaan, but I agree about the individual plants. Someone promote this guy already.Nalin wrote: Anyone else see these totally fitting for Deshaan?

Re: Vurt's Showcase
It's the Ashlands quickly retextured to look like, well, maybe not Deschaan, but something bleaker than the Ashlands. The new plants and trees acts as replacers for the normal Ashland trees, so it's all very chaotic to say the least. So don't mind the lanscape itself too much..Myzel wrote: The screens contain way too much flora for Deshaan
I'm fairly happy with the succulent-like plants, but the trees i think i will have to tweak a bit more.
How hi poly is maximum you'd say? Imo it should depend a bit on how many times a model might be used in a scene. Ofcourse you can't go over-the top making something really stand out and super detailed, but from what i've seen of your models they're nice and it should all blend in no matter what. The color match funtion in Photoshop is of great use for this (for finalizing the textures/colorscheme of an area), but you already know this i'm sure.
If this looks like the Deshaan, I'm not quite sure, but I will admit that it is amazing how you conjure up what looks like enough quality and consistent material for a whole new region type. Awesome work.
As a sidenote, we should have a discussion about the amount of flora in the Deshaan - I understand that it should be mostly barren since the top layer needs to be removed and irrigated to get to the crazy fertile soil, but that problably means that at the few spots where the top layer has eroded naturally, abundant flora would be a logical thing to see, and this would also reinforce the idea of the Deshaan being the most fertile region in Morrowind.

Hey Vurt. I really like the general tone of the environments you're constructing, just a few comments.
The brown-structure with carvings on it (I'm assuming it's Dunmer made, instead of a plant) looks very cool. Like something that ancient Dunmer grew (like Tevlanni grow mushroom towers), maybe something in the same family of plants. Anyway, I like it; I don't know what your inspiration was, but it's very interesting.
The purple plant - I have a suggestion about the central stem. It would look more organic if the central stem either ended with the fruit of the plant (flowers/buds, etc.) or with the last set of leaves. There's usually no reason that the stem of a healthy plant would have extra length past both the food producing parts (leaves) and the reproductive parts (fruits/flowers/buds).
I like the smaller barbed plant with the curvy branches, but I don't know about the larger tree sized version. I think it might be over-doing the motif.
In general, I really like this stuff. The picture of the coastline was very beautiful! To me that could definitely be Morrowind. I wish that the Dres buildings were done so you could construct a diorama of a Dres plantation or a settlement.

I think the old leaves looked like they were covered in a layer of ash, not bleak enough? Hmm, I could desaturate the new ones a bit more to remove any hint of green if that is preferable. yeah i made a "full" tree too since i already have 2 with less leaves, the new was inspired by Daedriclord's drawing: http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9039/0deshaantree02a.jpg

Good job, vurt. I'd like to keep open the option of using the uploaded models for Deshaan (or some other place); several people at TR think they'd work well.
As of right now, there aren't any modeling claims available, but I'll speak with Myzel to see what is next on the list.

Well done, Vurt! Glad to see such a well-known modeler join the team

It's a top of a tower i created, i stuck it deep into the ground so it's just the top that is showing. I'm not sure if i'm gonna continue doing anything with it though.
i have many new models, mostly desert plants and firs and spruces. dont know if its something TR needs.
