Please help

Post by DatGladiatah »

Hi I'm trying to play Tamriel Rebuilt so as to make my morrowind experience different than it ever has been. However, one issue keeps happening to me even after careful file extraction and placement.

Actor animation problem with
TR_er_seatroll1100000000
This actor has no animation class!

it's also done this with what seemed to be a sea crab file.

Can anyone help me solve this? I'm sorry in advance for spamming the forum, but I'm really growing frustrated and I want to play this quite badly.

My suggestion is to download the mod again from a different site.

Well I downloaded from the links provided here, and once at planet Elder Scrolls... right now however, many fatal errors keep occuring due to, I'm guessing, the way I'm copying and pasting the files.

It's annoying because vista won't allow me to simply extract the files into the data files folder, because of a requirement for administration permission (manual, as I am the admin obviously), so I must extract the files into a separate folder and then copy paste the files into the data folder.

Here's where I'm gussing something goes wrong. Originally I left the folders as is, and Morrowind wouldn't even read it (such as leaving the textures in the 'better heads' mod in the better heads folder), and when I noticed this issue I took the basic texture folders and cut them out separately, placing them into the data files pool. Once it was working, but now that I've done basically all files like that it does nothing but fatal.

So the question is... how do I save my mods into the data files folder properly? I'm sure what's happening with TR has something to do with this, as it doesn't work and it fatals after a few steps outside. Please, I know this isn't all about TR but I didn't expect these mods to be so freaking difficult to put in. Can someone help in more detail?

First off, you shouldn't install Morrowind (or anything, really) into the Program Files folder in Vista. Vista is real finicky about letting you chance things it thinks is important. You should extract the files exactly as the archive has them. Also make sure that you have your bsa registered (look in Morrowind.ini's archive section).

Have you registered the .bsa file? The TR_Data.bsa needs to be registered to the Morrowind.ini file, and BSAreg.exe is notoriously unreliable on Windows Vista and newer, so try registering it manually using the instructions found at this thread:

Thanks a lot you guys, I'm going to try out your suggestions right away.

Okay, let me try to understand this. So I shouldn't save in program files, where then should I save it? I don't know an area that doesn't require admin, but I haven't ever checked that out and it would be useful to know. Also, do I just... find morrowind.ini and click on it? I'll try to find it first, but yeah I never registered before because I didn't think it was required... I only thought you had to chech the data file. Sorry for coming off so nubbish, lol.

The bsa stuff is handled in the readme and in the thread Cat linked. I install all my games in C:/Games.

I must be insane then because thats always where I've had it installed on my Vista computer and it works perfectly fine.

------------------------------------------------------------

@DatGladiatah: Try registering the BSA manually as Cathartis stated above, if that does not work try uninstalling Morrowind COMPLETELY(wiping the meshes, textures, bookart, and all other folders too) and then reinstall it.

This error may be occuring because another mod is messing with TR in this way, so maybe you should try contacting the makers of all other mods you use or looking to see if they are compatible with TR.

*cough* Yes, I know a mouthful LOL.

Alright, I got it all solved I think. I had to make a new account and haven't been able to enter the eastern add-on, but since I did all your instructions and nothing else seems to be obstructed (as it used to be), I assume everything is all good.

Thanks for all the help! Maybe when I'm done exploring I'll provide more useful threads than this bit of nubbishness.

Disabling UAC helps somewhat, but given the number of problems that arises from installing stuff there its best to avoid it. In other words, good for you that it works, but it has caused a metric ton of problems for other people.

Sorry to come back only to spam some more... but I need help once again.

The map technically works, as I can enter the area and it doesn't shut down. However, a MASSIVE amount of objects haven't installed correctly, shown by the fact that half of the map is covered in yellow blocks, and most of the NPCs are covered or completely made of yellow blocks.

Is there any mod that conflicts with object data? If not, is there some proper way to install this mod that I simply haven't done?

I would recommend reinstalling morrowind but after you uninstall go back to the directory and delete all remaining files. Reinstall then put in ONLY the TR mod at first. Once you get it working, only then should you put other crap in because every time I do TR in the middle of my mods or last, it screws up. It needs top priority after Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon. So you go, morrowind, tribunal, bloodmoon, then TR. Finally any other things you might have.
I tried not to use the signature box but it was so big and rectangular!
