It's been removed, because we figured foreigners had no real interest in Necrom - to the Dunmer it's a holy city, but it hardly has any impact on the region economically.

About that picture of the morrowind mainland(Scamp's post on Fri Jun 24, 2011 5:57 pm(just above the last post on page 1)), is that actually how much exterior you guys have gotten done? Also, is that P:C on the bottom-left of the image(I assume so... but just because I'm curious, I'm asking :D)?

(Sorry, I am a quite curious person)

Most of it, the north west snowy area isn't fully developed yet, and you also see the large square there.

Yea, I saw the huge square and assumed that area wasn't quite finished yet. Anyways, its good to know you guys are a good ways along with the exteriors(can't wait for Map 3 BTW!)!

Even better when you consider that they redid everything at least once because they were unhappy with the quality. Now, THAT's what's really impressive.

BTW, from what I remember of the map, that square might be where Cormaris is going? A Hlaalu fortress, I think. Anyway, the exteriors look amazing.

If it's possible, I'd love to see what Narsis currently looks like. That and Alma are my two most-anticipated cities so far.

The Cormaris thing is being reworked at the moment, it won't be a Hlaalu fortress per se but we'll be deciding on that thing later.

Concerning Narsis, it hasn't changed much since 2008, and Almalexia is part of our next (not Sacred East) release and thus still being worked on. We'll provide plenty of screenshots on the elderscrolls.com forums when we have them :) .

@Mr. Mannlyman: That big square is too big for it to be just that fortress(I'm not very familiar with that area, so I'm just guessing) unless I'm wrong...

@Nemon: So, eventhough Almalexia is in the Sacred East territory it will be part of map 4(btw: what is Map 4's release name going to be(just curious)(I could also be incorrect about what map it is in).

I'm looking forward to Almalexia, Necrom, and all of House Indoril's other holdings(and the ability to join Great House Indoril)!

Almalexia is not in sacred east territory, it is in Almalexia territory. I think you are perhaps mixing up claim maps with releases.

No, I was looking at where it was on the map of the release maps(it appears to be in Map 3) on a page...

Here: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=forum/showmap&map=3

...but the above link is in a section of the website where it only has it down as 6 large release maps, thought it was changed to 8(if so maybe yall need to change it LOL)?

-TheUnending

P.S. Not attempting to argue (as it may look), I'm just attempting to have a healthy discussion/conversation.

There is a thread in our News section that details our current release schedule and map borders. Almalexia (both the map and the city) is south of what will be our Sacred East release.

Also, changing our claim maps would require a ludicrous quantity of code fixing in our site, far more than would be worthwhile.

Ah ok... Now I see what you guys are talking about. See, my confusion was that there was no map out there that details the new release map boundaries so I was a bit confused about where they were(and yes I can understand coding can get confusing aswell).

Thanks for answering my question ;).

Hey Scamp, I was wondering how tall the Cyrodiil mountains would be when P: C gets around to landscaping along the MW border? In your pics, the heightmap makes them look as though they'll end up having twice the altitiude of TR's mountains!

Which I'd be fine with, btw. ;)

From what I've seen on P:C's website it seems they will be making all the land a LOT larger than it is in Oblivion in Cyrodiil... but ofc, the mountains are already epicly HUGE in Oblivion(to the point where its nearly impossible to get over them), so I'd assume they will be(note: I'm not Scamp or a member of P:C, so this is just an assumption).

we'll probably be lowering them abit to match up with TR and to not be as tall as RM (though that's impossibly stupid, but i hear rumors of a RM overhaul...)

Being the Head of Exteriors at P:C, I say mountains will be lowered a lot. We will do that once we get to these areas, I don't edit the landmass file an older member provided.

Actually, we will be matching our mountains to TR's and shotn's mountains, which means they need to be lowered anyway.

Someone needs to make a mod that show distant weather. Or at least a mod that show smoke coming from red mountain. If you find anything like post a link.

Scamp can you post a link to all your map downloads? I was going through your blog and saw all those awesome mods. If you could, do please, for us!

Oh wait, no recruiting for other projects right? Sorry for that.

What you guys have done so far makes the original look bad in comparison, you guys should totally think of redoing Vvardenfell once this is done, it could use a TR touch if you ask me.

It's been considered a few times. However, we're sticking with just the Mainland for now, at least.

Economic Necrom

Post by Fiore1300 »

Why wrote:It's been removed, because we figured foreigners had no real interest in Necrom - to the Dunmer it's a holy city, but it hardly has any impact on the region economically.
I'm a bit divided on this, at least for non-aesthetic reasons (Necrom looks awesome!). I mean, what about the huge pilgrim/tourist traffic Necrom must generate? Necrom might not produce resources of marketable value, but the amount of Dunmer who travel there must be enormous. And when you have something that draws people like that, industry is sure to pop up around it. Merchants, guides, guards-for-hire, inn-keepers, entertainers; the list goes on and on. Necrom would be an economic super power in its own right.

On the other hand, it makes sense for Necrom to bar all non-Dunmer from residence. Or at least strive to keep foreign districts out of the holy city. Similar to how much of Mecca is out-of-bounds for non-Muslims. Still, that doesn't mean Mecca has no impact economically.

An interesting proposition, to be sure. Top of the list would be to make Red Mountain a hell of a lot taller...

It would conflict with too many good mods. Also, there are a lot of other areas I'd like to detail before redoing Red Mountain.
