Cocytus Showcase

Post by Cocytus »

For my showcase I built a Dwemer ruin called "Tshkylemyq," a recently unearthed production facility located just north of Maar Gan. My original plan was to make it a five-level dungeon, but I was told that that was far more than necessary for a showcase.

Anyway, this is technically only the first half of the showcase. The second half -- the more important half, in my opinion -- will be a questline involving a Mages Guild researcher. But with the stage set I felt it was a good point to stop and have my skills with interiors graded.

Enjoy, or not. Depends on your tastes and my abilities.

Well, that was far easier than expected. Second half of the showcase is done.

really, check everything on the shelf to see if it rests properly. There are a number of problems.
This cell also needs a bit more misc clutter.

Cell with something after the name:
You lack In_Lava_Blacksquares place them over the lava that extends outside the walls.
furn_dwrv_table10 floats... all of them
spice up your placements somewhat. The same table, stool, and anvil in each corner of a room is lame
also vary your rotation of things like barrels and stools. Make them more irregularly placed as well. We may be OCD about placement, but there needs to be the feel of life.
furn_dwrv_stool00 bleeds in every instance.
Wait, did you literally just copy and paste every room and change what is on the tables? Dude, not cool.
I'm stopping the review prematurely because of this. Interior design needs a bit more effort. You redo each room in this cell so that it is completely different from any other room in the cell (also technically good) and I'll review this again. Also add more detail to the hallways.

- Sorta-intentional... I think. The cover of the book is at a lower elevation than the spine, and the spine was what I tried to get in contact with the stool. Unless the SPINE is bleeding, then yeah, that was an accident.
This cell also needs a bit more misc clutter.
- That was a source of considerable angst for me before I just shrugged and moved on. I can't really think of what else to put in what amounts to a thermal exhaust room besides maintenance equipment. Maybe some rubble. This place IS supposed to be mostly buried.

- "F" key sucks then. Though I should have actually checked.

- Right. My main problem is that I get a bit obsessed about what in my head seems like the most efficient way to go about the imagined function that the room had. And so, central forge, four workbenches with necessary smithing equipment nearby, some barrels for supplies, and the half-finished weapons.
Wait, did you literally just copy and paste every room and change what is on the tables? Dude, not cool.

- Not literally, no. I manually put together each room, although all with the same template in mind. A big problem apparently. I'll scribble something in my notebook tomorrow to think of alternative setups.
Also add more detail to the hallways.
So... what? More broken pipes, some rubble... what else would fit? Guess I'll have to take a tour of some more ruins for ideas.

I'll try to fix what problems I can tomorrow. For now, I'm about to pass out.
