A few questions regarding TR3

Post by DawnJasnine »

Hi

I'm new here, and I just have a few questions regarding TR3: Sacred East, the latest TR release for Morrowind.

I just downloaded and installed TR3 earlier today. I had TR1 and TR2 before already, but I removed those game data files before installing TR3. Can I double check that I've done the right thing? Does the new TR3 game data file contain all the information of TR1 and TR2 already? I think I've done it right, but I just want to be completely sure about this.

Also, I've already started some quests in mainland Morrowind prior to installing TR3. Would these quests be affected in any way by the game data changes? (Replacing TR1/TR2 by TR3) Has anyone experienced any bugs related to this? So far there doesn't seem to be any problems, but I've only explored a few areas on the mainland since installing TR3.

Another thing is that after installing TR3 and starting the game again, I've noticed that all of my prior map markers on the general world map for the mainland are completely gone. This doesn't seem to affect the local maps for each region on the mainland which I've already explored before installing TR3, it's just the markers on the general Morrowind map that are gone. Is this normal? And would it affect actual gameplay in any way?

Thanks for your help.

BTW, I've just arrived in the city of Akamora (meaning "Dragon City" in Aldmeris I think), it's the first city in TR3 that I'm exploring. So far everything seems to be good, the only thing is that when I run up the stairs in Akamora (outside), it seems a bit slower than usual for some reason, as if the clipping isn't perfect. Anyone else noticed this?

PS Does anyone know when TR4 will come out? Generally I think the quality of TR is superb, certainly just as good as the actual Morrowind game itself, and even bigger in size. You guys must have set a record here, Morrowind is probably the only computer game that still has exciting new content being released more than 10 years after it first came out. I first bought Morrowind in late 2003, almost 10 years ago. All of the other games I bought around that time back then I have not touched for at least 5 - 6 years or more, they've just been sitting there on the shelf. Morrowind is the only exception to this, the only game from that era which I'm still actually playing sometimes.

Yes, that's correct.

I fear there will be bugs with the more complicated quests. Re-visit the locations which you have explored; do you see some NPCs getting doubled? This is one of the things that happens when one updates TR without restarting from an older save. Unfortunately, running quests tend to get into more serious bugs than this.

I guess that's normal (though I don't really know), unless you also lost the Vvardenfell map markers.

Uhm, yeah, these Akamora stairs and the rocks underneath them have some... weird collision. Not sure if this is already fixed in the internal file or not.

Thanks for the compliments, and sorry, we don't know when TR4 will come out. The town of Almalexia is a giant piece of work which cannot be released piecemeal, and it is not likely to get done very quickly. We are planning to release some quest and bugfix patches to TR3, though.

Ok thanks for the replies.

Yes I just meant the map markers of the mainland region, not Vvardenfell.

It would be good if you could release some patches that can fix quest-related bugs for those people who started mainland quests in TR1/TR2 prior to installing TR3. I think there are many people like me out there.

Fortunately for me I haven't gone very deep into the TR1/TR2 quests yet, so the impact of any potential bugs won't be too big I think.

This is pretty much impossible. How MW adjusts savegames to an update of a mod isn't wellunderstood, and even if it was many thinks wouldn't be fixable from a ESP file.
