Donation for TR's Ashlands Resdayn Revival Team

Post by daedriclord »

As administrator of Resdayn Revival Morrowind project I would like to present you "The Hive". A lot of work is done but much more has to be done. At this moment we have paucity of level designers, so we decided to close the Hive project and finish Bitter Coast. But we don't wont the work we've done to be lost. As I know TR Ashlands are not completed yet, and we would like to donate our work to TR project.

This is a first Morrowind official concept by Kirkbride, "Ashlands"
Like the crab in Ald-ruhn, The Hive is a giant structure made of dead arthropods, it is located somewhere in Ashlands.

Watch the preview 4 videos in HD(playlist):
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKS7a1zW6I9kPIGWorN3FDM5sEG3yyWcR

The Hive is inhabited by various insects. It is like a giant organism. Main part of the structure is inhabited by The Swarm. Those are little insects which serve the structure.
Swarm flies in and out. It can carry the player through the Hive(the script is already written - level designer should place markers for a direction for the flight.

Ages ago clans ashlanders used the Hive as a meeting place. There are also.

The Spiral Shell Stairs are located in the center of the hive, those connect different parts of the structure. This cell is not done yet, there are various bugs with textures and lighting. Textures should be changed.

Hall of the Great Ashkhan is the heart of the Hive. giant drum is in the center it has the same sound as the drum in Morrowind title theme. Every second a drop of water falls on the drum, this makes interesting atmosphere and ambient.
The Great Ashkhan used to meditate on buzzing of the swarm in the main hall :D

I've never heard of your project before but you guys have a really good sense of Morrowind visual design.

Been following your project with interest for a while now and have even tested out the Bitter Coast beta release.

In agreement with what gro-Dhal said, you guys have done a fantastic job augmenting the original Morrowind design, rather than supplanting it.

I would love to see this hive utilized, in TR or elsewhere. The modeler did a fantastic job turning MK's 2D art into a 3D model.

Thank you, our goal is to realize ideas of developers could not make real because of lack of resources and time. Also we make Vvardenfell locations better, in March we've released Bitter Coast beta on Russian

Many RU mods don't get attention from the rest of the world if they're not advertised in english somewhere, so I'd never heard of that project.

Looks neat!

Thanks, It would be nice if TR team finds our contribution useful. it would be nice if TR credits Resdayn Revival team in TR Credits.
here are the resources, that's not all but some of them should be sorted

first download databases install them by versions

Here are 3 esp and database
esps are attacked
database - 1.6 - 1.7

Indeed! The swarm travel is an ingenious idea. I'm worried that TR may be too set in design decisions to accept this, I want to see it used!

Perhaps it would have a place on the Deshaan Plains, in the lands of the Dres? There were talks of making Hive dungeons, IIRC.

I'm more worried that it wouldn't make it past TR's anachronistic stance on filesize anyway before a long while or without having the meshes size reduced... (lots of work and probably not compatible with RR's wishes)

Worst case scenario, an exterior spot could be reserved in TR Ashlands for this to be added on separately/later?

I believe there already was a discussion some time ago about putting a structure like this -based off the same concept art, though never modeled- in the TR Ashlands. People thought that doing so would cause our Ashlands to outclass the ones on Vvardenfell, which are supposed to be a bigger deal than the mainland ones. If we use this, I think the Deshaan Plains would be a better location.

meshes size

Post by daedriclord »

rot wrote:meshes size
Oh NO! the Hive's meshes are not bigger than 5 mb in total and textures also - those files I've uploaded are so big because they contain full RR Database of models, textures, icons and sounds
Hive is not so big

PS: also there are 2 versions of the Hive model,
divided into parts and undivided, we used divided because its much better for Morrowind without MGE (shadows generate properly and Hive parts are loaded properly)

The exteriors are very cool. The interior with the giant spiral, on the other hand, is not usable IMO.

Regarding the use of the hive or something similar: how about a place for the Dres to house Skyrenders? They look likes wasps or bees, thus making a hive sensible, and this one could fit seamlessly into a place like Deshaan.
Down with de_p tyranny! Use "TR_furn_de_p" pieces for flat, hassle free surfaces. Thanks, Melchior!

I always pictured the Dres council house being built atop a skyrender hive. Something unique to the Dres. It would be the defining feature of Tear. Sort of like the Eyrie pictured in Game of Thrones (show version). Except the only way to get there would be to fly up. Or dock in a sloadship. The idea would be that councilors and dignitaries would fly in on their pimped-out insect riders. Everyone else not important enough can't get there.

We could do some sort of hybrid between Turelio's original concept of the council house giving way to a more organic skyrender colony below it.

Dunno, it sounds crazy, but this is Morrowind. It would be an intimidating first sight for those who are unfortunate enough to arrive as a slave (from Argonia or elsewhere).

Just my two cents.
