When was the last time you played the game?

Post by rot »

I suspect a majority of modders here don't even play the game anymore. Ok, neither do I much, but I mean haven't played it in years. And by playing I don't mean just hopping in to see the pretties and take screenshots.

Does no one worry about TR slowly getting out of touch?

Any ideas how to remedy it? Nobody wants to watch or read a let's play.

It's still the basis for what we're creating here...

... yes, gameplay included.

I've played the game off and on, and enjoy it when I get the chance to dive into it and have fun re-exploring places as different characters.

Honestly, if I didn't enjoy playing the game, I wouldn't dedicate my time to modding it.

I think that TR releasing maps, especially off in the horizon when it gets done, will probably draw in some people to play Morrowind again. While the current player base probably isn't that large, the community still is, even if a lot of its members have moved on to other games. I'm pretty sure almost everyone interested enough in the project to consider watching a let's play would rather simply play the game him- or herself.

That being said, I'm not too sure whether it's important. This is a fan project, in that no one is getting paid for working on it, at least that I know of. A lot of the people on TR are no doubt part of the project because they want to play Morrowind with TR, and if some of the members just like modding or are part of the project because it's a pretty good way to learn some skills, and a better way of procrastinating than most alternatives, then I'd say the project also serves its purpose.

2006 or something. Anything after that was for testing purposes.

Yeah it's been a couple years since I've actually played. I've been meaning to, but every time I start a new character up, I just think about how I should really finish Of Ash and Blight or Lyithdonea and THEN my game will be perfect.

And what the crap are you talking about Sload? Why would we all mod for a game we didn't enjoy at least at one point?

Morrowind will outlive the sun thanks to the modding community.

Though I feel guilty for saying it I have to admit that playing the game itself stopped being fun a long time ago. I blame the CS for exposing everything, from invisible gameplay mechanics to exterior cells.

//edit: Actually, it would interesting to know how many people who aren't modders are still playing Morrowind.

Where are we now? 50K downloads? There's clearly still an audience for this stuff

I still play Morrowind on occasion. It's still fun to do every once in a while.

Knowing the limits and nuances of the engine have certainly made it hard to get immersed in the game again. Probably one of the reasons I download and install so many mods in my game (which I haven't even finished doing yet) is to try and surprise myself. The last and only times I've beat the main quest was on the Xbox. I've only beat one questline (Temple) since I started "playing" on PC. It started with the console and scaling silt striders up to 100 and hasn't ended since I touched the CS.

From browsing the Morrowind General Discussion sub forum it looks like people still play who don't mod.

Wasn't suggesting that people aren't playing TR - that's obviously not the case; rather that modders might have forgetten a lot about the game they're modding. Sometimes even, dare I say, the fact that it's a game (!)

Is this questioning in relation to those mummies? :P

I play other games, which give me inspiration for this game. :D

I finished another playthrough just weeks ago. After Tribunal my character was diving into the cold depths of Solstheim. There the last savegame landed somewhere in a tomb.

Will finish it when I'm not so packed with stuff to do for work and the new house we bought. Also sorry for the the absence of updates on my part. I barely find any time these days. Will have a short break from work in a week or 2...
