Foeburner (Wil quest)

Post by DestinedToDie »

Upon exploring a daedric ruin the player will find a golden saint named Laasta.

Greeting:

You wish your death, mortal? Seek it elsewhere.

wish:

I would have cut you down on sight if it were not for that my Foeburner has lost its incandescence.

Foeburner:

You want to feel its burning edge on your throat? Capture the soul of a fire atronach and you shall have your way.

Journal: A golden saint named Laasta has offered me a great deal of pain in exchange for recharging her blade, Foeburner.

Greeting (remove charged soul gem):

Foeburner is restored once more. Taste its flames!

Goodbye

Journal: Laasta lays dead on the ground. Foeburner is now mine to take.

-------------------------------------------

Foeburner is a vanilla item without an enchantment. Should the player kill Laasta prematurely, they will receive the unenchanted version. However, should they go along with the quest, the enchantment will be 10 fire damage for 10 seconds - cast on strike. The downside is that it will take very long to recharge. So long it'll drive you crazy. This is a quest from a servant of Sheogorath, after all.

I would be a bit more specific in the dialogue that an enchanted version of Foeburner is the quest reward.

Something like: You want to feel its burning edge on your throat? Or are you deluded enough to imagine you can defeat me and claim it for yourself? Capture the soul of a fire atronach and we shall decide, one way or another.

Location is currently set to be in Sirsadrorran, a cave with a shrine dedicated to Sheogorath. Laasta would be placed near the shrine and the current daedra worshipper will be a corpse when player arrives.

The area around Sheogorath's statue makes pathing difficult for the npc. For that reason Laasta has to be moved elsewhere. I suggest the location currently used by the skeleton in this cave. Does that sound good?

If you're going to move the skeleton, I may suggest moving it to be just by the statue, and maybe adding a sacrificial dagger into its ribcage with a random note/scrawling next to it identifying the summoning of Laasta.

<DestinedToDine>: Started work on Foeburner and discovered that there seems to be no way to check for a soul gem with a soul in it in dialogue window. I looked at Skink-In-Tree's quest where you deliver him a soul of an ash ghoul, but the check for the soul had been put there as a special local value.

<DestinedToDine>: So here's my idea. Use a script to check if the player has it, then force greet at a certain distance and remove the soul gem in dialogue.

<DestinedToDine>: Why I'm asking is that I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way to do it.
