Outlander?

Post by Dormichigan64 »

So, when you choose dunmer as your race, everyone on Vvardenfell calls you outlander, meaning that you're from the mainland. This would mean that people on the mainland would not call you outlander if you're a dark elf. Right? Is there any possibility that this could be changed? I know it's really small and insignificant, but it just kinda bugs me.

Isn't that supposed to mean you're not from Morrowind? Which fits the backstory of being brough from the Imperial City.

Yeah, but you're still dunmer, from Morrowind.

You came from Cyrodiil - nobody knows whether you had spent a single day in Morrowind prior to your release. Hence the outlander thing.

I guess, but look at Dragonborn. All the dark elves in Raven Rock are from Vvardenfell, right? And they call you outlander. If you're a dunmer, a woman will say something like "It's always nice to see someone from the mainland".

The people in Morrowind know a dunmer outlander by their accent. I remember I read this somewhere, but I forgot. :?

I think most of the Dunmer in Dragonborn's Raven Rock are from Blacklight(or Baan Malur), and by the mainland, I think they mean Tamriel as a whole.

Outlander = from outside of Morrowind (= mainland + Vvardenfell)

The PC in TESIII is assumed to be an outlander even if they're a dark elf, because the natives can indeed, paraphrasing, notice it through subtle ways (but really because being called that is such an essential part of the ambience)

(vanilla spoilers) PC is also destined to be an outlander according to the Lost Prophecies:

From seventh sign of eleventh generation,

Neither Hound nor Guar, nor Seed nor Harrow,

But Dragon-born and far-star-marked,
