The clockwork city?

The clockwork city?
Will you include this in the southern regions? I beleive it is underground somewhere south of Deshaan.
What about brainstorming where it could be after TR is fully complete? Perhaps when the Argonia project gets much further in development we could collaborate and make entrances from both Ebonheart and Black Marsh. Just an idea... It would be cool to have the ability to physically travel there instead of ye ole teleportation trick.Rats wrote:Hi!
We won't be adding the Clockwork City anywhere since multiple sources claim it's in many different locations. Even Sotha Sil isn't quite sure where the city is, or at least he's reluctant to reveal it.

Your argument carries merit, muthsera. And honestly, I have yet to play the Tribunal expansion.Dormichigan64 wrote:But that would ruin the whole idea of it being completely isolated. Sotha would probably know where his own city is if it had entrances.

I did a little concept drawing. I'm not exactly sure, but isn't Sotha Sil located in an isolated Jungle? I know some official maps show Sotha Sil's location.
begin rambling about Sotha Sil and stupid drawing here
And before you ask how a city can be hidden in a jungle, remember that Jungles can hide all manners of things if they're thick enough. Take Mayan ruins in South America for instance. They're not easy to see from the air and there's no guarantee anyone actually lives in sotha sil either other than the tinkerer himself and his "pets". I did this concept of what Sotha Sil might look like just for fun. I think I have the image somewhere hang on...

Not the best quality in the world I'm afraid but the basic idea was to make it look mystical. as for that black blob in the bottom right at the base, it's supposed to represent the player's size relative to the structure.
Like I said, it was just for fun and I had no intention of contributing it to TR. (they probably wouldn't accept it anyway. I'm not really an artist anyway tbh.) But if I had to guess, I'd think the clockwork city would look something like that.
End Rambling about Sotha Sil and stupid drawing here.
As for the actual clockwork city. There are no plans for connections to it. There was talk of adding a trapdoor or something in the middle of the forest or jungle or whatever where the city is "supposed" to be that would display a scripted message when activated saying it was protected by powerful magic and could not be opened by a mortal. Though as far as I know, it never went beyond just that: Talk.

He doesn't leave because he lost his desire to interact with the outside world and went into seclusion.
I don't understand what you mean by how he "got there in the first place." Sotha Sil built the Clockwork City. It wasn't a pre-existing location that he uncovered.Almalexia wrote:And Sotha Sil...he always thought himself our better, shunning us, locking himself in this hole. He spoke not a word as he died. Not a whisper. Even in death, he mocked me with his silence!
Sotha Sil's Last Words... wrote:You ask where my Clockwork City is? Some say in the swamps of Black Marsh. Others claim it is deep in the ground beneath Ebonheart. I have even heard it told that my city is contained within a jar on the Lady Almalexia's mantle. These are all true, and false. My city is where I live, and I live in my city. Its location is unimportant, as I am its only citizen.

that might --to my knowledge-- actually be the case.Yeti wrote:It wasn't a pre-existing location that he uncovered
edit: I mean that the city did exist before Sotha Sil.

I don't blame him. Perhaps after Skylake microarchitecture is released I'll finally play the Tribunal expansion.Yeti wrote:He doesn't leave because he lost his desire to interact with the outside world and went into seclusion.

i've been making some concept art, hoping that sotha-sil (the clockwork city) could eventually be the equivalent to a vivec, based on the fact that sotha sil is fascinated with the idea and the meanings of being a god, he himself would have a city of his own style.
some concepts i was dreaming up are the idea of soul-source, a soulgem based power source, closely resembling static discharge and electricity, a power grid based on this, fully automated guards and sentinels, highly intelligent fabricants with emotions in souls, (it is said that sotha sil could do such things) and high priests/denizens of sotha sil, with clockwork prosthesis.
these are just some ideas... tell me if you like'em and i might post the less-than-ok-but-still-fine art i did for them

Are you simply proposing an expansion of Sotha-Sil interior cells?st.Veloth, The Repenting wrote:i've been making some concept art, hoping that sotha-sil (the clockwork city) could eventually be the equivalent to a vivec, based on the fact that sotha sil is fascinated with the idea and the meanings of being a god, he himself would have a city of his own style.

That's kind of what I was getting at; it's already been done.Yeti wrote:As far as expanding the Clockwork City, someone else has already put a lot of work into such an effort.

Yea I have played Trainwiz's sotha sil expanded a few time I got to say it's awesome it's everything the lore says it actually is and feels as long as a expansion with the getting to the city taking like an hour or more and then doing the quests which might take another hour or more to get to the actual fight of almalexia you should play it some time it's great though with the thought of with TR are planing on doing with the mournhold and making it outside I don't know how compatible it will be.but try it if you haven't if you want before that happens.
