New Steel Armor Textures

Post by Morden »

Re-textured steel armor that i'm making at Eraser's request. Orginally i was just going to post all the meshes and everything right now, but about 15 minutes ago i think i corrupted every re-textured .nif file... thats a pain in the arse. :? I'm going away this weekend.. so i'll have to upload them on Monday.

Any thoughts?

Whoa, cool! :o

How about adding some TES-related standards to them, like the imperial Dragon, or some High Rock-ish celtic themes?

Keep it up, Morden, these are looking really great! :D

I think these would be perfect for use in Skyrim on some Nordic tribe, perhaps the textures mean difference in rank or something.

"Yea very cool from where are this textures "

I made these textures out of the orginal Bethesda ones. Some of the smaller details are either of my own design, or taken from 3 pictures i found on google.

Hey Morden, I sent a request to you some time ago. I was wondering if you got it.

Very nice textures by the way.

Briliant textures. Are you going to replace the originals with some of them? or just add them as brand new?

yeah would be cool to have similar armours but with different looks ... just to have a fashion difference...

Thanks for the comments. :) I've been really putting off uploading this.. mostly because i have to mess with a bunch of files that i named and organised rather poorly and put them in a rar file.

Here are 5 more armors i made a long time ago. They are mostly chain, and leather, with a bit of plate. It think they'd make good medium armors. I'm in the process of sorting out all the files and converting the textures to TGA or DDS ( i haven't decided yet).

There will be 8 new steel armors total. Then there are the 2 more iron i have already given to Eraser... for a total of 10 new armors/armor variations. I've also got some copper armor in the works.

they look really cool , having variations of similar armours is a muist that allows more variuation to the game , i still dunno how to do the armours appear in game , all what i tried didn't work otherwise we could make more new armours for skyrim....

For some reason i am unable to upload the 2 rar files for all this stuff..and it doesn't help that i'm on a dialup connection. So i'll just post a pic of the final versions... i fixed some of the armors.

Holy crap you're cool!!! Those look so awsome they bring a tear to dear, dirty ol' uncle spider's eyes. *sniff*

I can definatelt see the two bottom middle cuirasses being of weathy retainers or honor guards, something of that sort anyway. All that bronze filigree on the lower left one reminds me of Skyrim. The others mostly seem mercenary-like, but his is all just my opinion. Again, great job morden!

The two in the upper right seem like military or militia standard-issued armor to me. If you could retexture the rest of the steel armor to match those two, then we could use those for the standing militia in cyrodil, or in one of the more imperial-based keeps in skyrim.

either way, excellent job.[/img]

Here they are finally. Couldn't put 'em up on 56k.

Below is the README file.

--------------------------------------------------
These armors were created by Morden for use in the Tamriel Rebuilt project. Please do not use them in a
non-TR mod. My goal was to create some variations among the steel armor found in the orginal game.
I eventually went beyond that goal, and created more medium steel armors. These medium armors are a mixture of steel chainmail, leather, and in some cases, light steel plate. No statistics have been added to these armors, I will leave that to the manager of Objects of Tamriel, as he has more experience.

Contains:

Medium Chain Armor- armors 06, 07
Medium Chain/Plate Armor - armors 01, 02, 02b
Heavy Steel Plate Armor - armors 03, 04 , 05

Armors 03, 04, 05 come with matching pauldrons.
Armor 05 also comes with a matching Helm.

I can be contacted on the TR forums or at skier_4_life@hotmail.com

Happy Modding :D

Fanboy time..

I LOVE YOU MORDEN!

If you need help with anything, I'll see what I can do, I'm rummaging through my texture collection in an attempt to clean things up before I format.

You could convert all my files to .dds for me.. haha.. then associate all the new .dds textures with each mesh using NIFTexture. That's tedious work and only a masochist would want to do it, but it's what's standing between me and uploading them. Unfortunately i'm up to my neck in school work.

Update...

1. I've made unique icons for all eight suits, based off the orginal steel armor icon.

2. I don't think I'll ever be done because I keep updating them... oh well.. its better than leaving them crappy. Here's an "in-progress" screenie of one i'm updating.. it was one of the first i made, so its due for a facelift.

Sorry :) You can still release it. Updating the armors will only required replacing the texture, once you have the all the nifs in OoT.

So when I have a final version of the work, i'll just send you a package of the final textures. They'll have the same file names, so they'll write over the old ones.. and *poof*, replaced :)

I must say these are some of the best armour retextures I've seen yet. You and Jeremy are clearly the two best armour creators on the TES modding scene.

An idea for the TR team. Perhaps these cuirasses and pauldrons could be included as special items, ie enchanted cuirasses a lá Heartwall or Mountain Spirit (enchanted bonemold cuirasses from the original game)? Jeremy did some unique looking female versions of some of those special bonemold cuirasses and it really adds to the variety. Plus I noticed a distinct lack of enchanted steel armours, especially considering that it's the most plentiful medium/heavy armour after bonemold in original MW.

Cheers, UQF

Something I hate about every single thread here at the TR forums has it's links removed.

Morden, could you repost the download link so I can check it out ingame?

Thanks,
