Pirate sword
Here's some pirate sword I made for fun.
Most of the textures are from the TES cd, and this is my first attempt to make a sword, so I guess it's not that good.
Feedback welcome.

LoL I tried modelling the same thing a few weeks back. I stopped however, modelling is not my favorite thing and I'm not good enough at it. I just thought I'd mention it, cause it looks so similar.
It looks as though the blade isn't sharp but very very blunt, almost not getting any sharper to the front. The textures also need work, the blade looks a bit blurry and the upperside of the hilt is stretched out (I had the same problems). Other than that it looks very nice, especially for a first. A little work and it'll be great.

the textures are fine, we have people that can do that if you have trouble here, but try smoothing the front a bit, so it doesnt have points every few inches, and so its on continuous curve

the edge thing wont be noticeable in game.
and when u smooth the blade. assign two different groups for the top side and the bottom side. this way, the edge will be sharp instead of being rounded out.
maybe u could give different Specular level for the sharpened part and the rest of the blade. this way the polished part will look shinnier

Here's an update:
I've fixed a few things like changing the guard texture and making it thinner, but it looks very grey and dull in the CS. Dunno why.
@av01d: Eh... I didn't quite understand the smooth thing. I'm pretty new to modeling and the only smooth i've used is meshsmooth. I tried applying a smooth modifier and tweaking with it, but I didn't get a result.
EDIT: I found out of it now.

When you meshsmooth you can select the vertices you want to smooth instead of allTeli wrote:Here's an update:

of course it's bethesda quality, it's pommelstone is messed up! lol im jk, but the pommelstone looks bent in comparison to the rest of the blade.
also, make sure the hand closes completely around the hilt, because it looks like the redguard barely has his hand on it.

Ok. I've adjusted the pommel, and the hilt a bit.
Is it better now?
