its for drainage reasons, houses in low land seasonal drainage areas generally are on stilts so that the capillary water pressure present in the soil doesnt push water through the floor, which would ruin the inside of a house... the stilt houses should be used in low lands where water would flow from glaciers to the sea... but thats just my engineering perspective

Also, most houses that are up in the snowy mountains (like ski resorts) are built on stilts to keep the majority of the structure from being buried by the snow...and we all know skyrim is very snowy :)

Yes, except I would prefer the camera going around the whole thing (or the whole thing spinning) rather than have the house itself turn, cuz now it looks as if it was a merry-go-round
So maybe just have it turn with the bg or something...
Yeah, that wouldn't be a problem...except for the fact that the background is just a screenshot from morrowind that is being rendered as the background. Or something like that...

morden, rocks from eastern skyrim would be reddish, like desert rocks, and also they'd be light light gray, very dark brown, and a soft black. (took me hours of 'research' and 'experimentation' ;) but it should be pretty accurate.

Yes! That is cool! :D :D :D

If it would be possible, could I get it better quality? Don't mind the size, if it is too big for the ftp we could get on MSN and you could send it to me or something...

Water

Post by Juhazar »

I think that we need static water (if it is possible). I mean, that we can't for example make any river's to mountains, as we need to pull land so down. If static (or activator or something) water is possible, we could make even lakes to top of the mountais. I suppose that Skyrim has many that kind of places.

Water again

Post by Juhazar »

I've seen some waterfalls in Morrowind, and they look stupid, as they begin from nothing. With "static water" we could make river there.

juhazar all the waterfalls are aptly and skillfully placed. If you'd like to try moving and or fixing every single one of them(I believe there are quite a few), then I'm sure you should do that before you comment and say anyone elses work is stupid because it 'leads from nowhere'

Of course those waterfalls look great, but it would be more realistic, if they would begin from somewhere.

Only an idea, but the lava in morrowind moves, (or am i wrong?) and that are statics, so why not retexture the lava for rivers.

I'm already using static water in my claim, lots of it too - I have a huge mountain lake, which is feeding the 2nd biggest river in argonia. :D
Look up "dongle's water mesh".
It's a square activator that looks just like non-pixel shaded water... BUT you must make sure it isnt above waist level when placing it, as you cant swim in it.
I imagine if you do some skilled rotations, and use a generous amount of waterfalls, you could make a convincing alpine river.
The only problem is, if we want a convincing river someone should make an animated river-water texture to put over this.
