I know a bunch with trials and such, but I reccomend Milkshape 3D; $30. When I thought I wanted to model, it's the one I got... but alas, it was extremely difficult and I swiftly gave up.

I got Maya5, It's supposed to be like 2000 USD, but there is a trial version, directly from Alias Software, that is free. It lasts unlimited amount of time, and no features are disabled. The only agreement you have to make is that it is for private use only, hence, TR mod... Just a bunch of friends sharing models right?

But really, no worries, since there'll be no profit in this mod for the modellers anyways, BESIDES HOURS OF FUN!
