um hey guys notice the " around the word bigshot... I did that cos i was hassling/laughing at daka... i wasnt disrespecting no1 and furthermore i was only laughing at daka for taking it soooo seriously. Honestly i reckon if sumbody wants to model it and do a good job then put it in...
And munkie man i wasnt hassling ne1.

And if it doesnt happen i wont jump off a bridge... :D

I agree that the whole thing shouldn't be replaced. However making a few of the pieces that look a bit different (Curved short spiky pauldronds, shield, ect) may be a good idea to give the Dres a little variety.
thought-thief! :D
that's EXACTLY what i've been trying to say here! :)
now that the whole "bigshot" dillema is all cleared up, is there anyone who would like to model this? the priorities would be first shield, second pauldrons, and third helm (i'm not sure we really even need the cuirass, except maybe for the dagoth bonemold Idea).
As to the diffrentiations in the two styles (vorrheis and mine), that is how dres works - it's split up between the two castes, but ultimately they are the same group - but each side with their own minor differences.

The armors aren't really all that different. Not different enough to warrant a new armor model. Vorrheis' helm is more spiky than the concept art, but you could just use one of the already made Bethesda ones. The spikes are also slightly different in style, but the general spiky shoulders bit is there.
I made them look really similar ON PURPOSE - they are both house dres, silly :D!
Also, if they are so similar, this should be fairly easy to create - just modify vorrheis's armour until it matches the concept images, and whammo! another style of dres bonemold (unless munkie is STILL opposed to using this for dres, of course). As for the shield, I would be willing to work with some other members on that one for the textures (as it is a brand-new object).

I kinda object to the two armors for the different castes but beyond that it looks cool.
(Reasoning that the lower cast most likely wouldn't be allowed to use bonemold at all or at least making thier own would be an affront.)
But it could be used either as variety or as a local variation.

True, it could just be another type of bonemold, not affiliated with any House, depending on how it looks. We could then strap them onto ur typical adventurer or merc.

what I mean is, the dres have two "castes" as they are called, and wealth isnt much of a divider - in fact, the alt-julan are even MORE wealthy from what I understand.
The Alt-julan are the rich and the exploitative, and probably the vampires too. They hate imperials probably more than any other group in all tamriel, and operate the plantations and farms.

The gah-kogo are the hyper-traditional dres, who defend the plantations and serve as the house's guards. They also are mercenaries, at times.

Munkie and/or yinnie could probably give you the true spiel, but I think that sums it up.

Woo man, woo.
Can you do the pauldrons too, or is the helm the end?
Oh, and for breathing holes just add some dots around the mouth.

Also, if you look at my avatar you can see that the face part has a sort of "edge" around it, but otherwise the sweetness of this is indescribeable.

Here is the promised update, eyes are more slity now as aposed to the gapes, there is a textured nose hole. edges on the side of the face added.

Morden said he would texture it for me, so this probibly wont be the last update for this file. however this is the place to get the new mesh, which i dont think should change.

imm off to do some pauldrons now

The model looks great, and i'm almost done the texture :) There's one little thing though. The helm has two flanges on either side which are shaped like ears. They've been modelled well.. i mean.. they look like really good ears, but unfortunately Dark elves have pointed ears. The human ears make for an odd look, seeing as how it is a darkelf helm. I'm not sure if it would make it past the reviewers.

Those are the "edges" around the helm, not earbits.
THe only thing I would reccomend further is that the chin is supposed to be jutting out a bit (as in the bottom of the chin would just be covered by cloth most likely), and to make the eyes a bit less dark (as in you can see into the eyeholes just a little bit). Remember, the face mask should be almost straight from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin (not rounded like it is now).

The eye slots thing is a texture detail... and on all the other helms its just black in there.

I realise that those are edges, but they are the perfect size, shape, and placement to be ears.

time to quote lil' john:
YYYYEEAAYUH!!!! :D :D :D
I can see it in your avatar, and what I see is pure awesomeness..
EDIT:
I took a look at it in-game, and the noseholes are highly out of place IMHO. Morden, when you texture it the breathing holes should be a series of very small dots around the chin, like in my avatar. Also, remember to make the helm not cover the bottom of the chin, but have cloth there. But i should stop complaining, and congratulate you for being the only guy willing to undertake this task. :D

I can't really do that... sorry. :( You'd have to alter the mesh to make it separate from the chin, otherwise the cloth and the mask are flush with eachother. I'll play with it for sure, but don't be suprised if i can't do it. I think the helm looks pretty sweet even if it wraps under the chin. The redoran founder's helm does the same thing.

@shadowmoon - if you post the pauldron mesh and texture i'll get going on it.

Ill refine the (helm) mesh again once Morden is done texturing.

i need to make an upper arm model and a ground model yet. at the moment im using Gah Julan upper arm as that seems to go well but it needs its own. so that is my next model.

here are some screenies

Here are the pauldrons. the helm is included.

i have added option to wear armguards which were shown in the concept art. its the upper arm model without the pauldron. less protective but allows more ease of movement great for a noble.

This is only a teaser version made by request. i am unhappy with a lot of things in here namely the pauldron mesh and the black gapes. and how the pauldron ground model has an odd blue tinge.

so expect updates. this is just what ive been doing so far

yeah i aggree with j. The pauldrons look very unorginal. Like really really unoriginal. The spikes need to be more dominant or not there at all. But i really really luv the helmet. Maybe the eye slits need a little refinement though.
But yeayuh the helmet rox.
