Koi Fish

Post by Spider »

I figure this is enough to warent a new topic. I'm working on retexturing one of cait's fish models in order to make some koi for a mod that I'm working on.

I wanted to make them available if anyone here is interested, I think I remember hermit saying somehwere that he was working on an oriental-inspired garden.

Anyhow, these are pics of the first two I've done, there'll be at least two more of them upcoming. If anyone is interested let me know, and I'll also be needing someone to apply the textures to meshes once I'm finished.

Hey, thanks guys! I've got the other two retextures finished, I don't like them as much as I do the first two, but I'll post pics of them once I finished learning how to retexture (having a bastard of a time of it).

very, very good, but 3 out of four of those look like the domestic kind. I doubt tamrielians (yes, i said tamrielians) had the time to breed these for color as the japanese did. maybe they could be placed in very posh places, like the 'forbidden island in narsis or places in cyrodil, or, god forbid, a resturant

What are you talking about, ALL koi are domesticated, and all four of those are actuall koi varieties. Also the Dunmeri culture is how many thousands of years old? No, scarcley any time there for a selective breeding program. Also, propogating koi wouldn't be done by common folk, it would be done by nobles, who have plenty of time on their hands. Not that I'm saying that it has to have been the Dunmer who bred them, it could have been anyone and the fish could be imported to anywhere. Koi are domestic and are probably too 'delicate' to survive on Vvardenfell, but I can see them being found in city gardens, and on nobles' private estates.

I would think of koi to be from akavir, so they would probably be associated with akaviri-influenced cuiltures (imperials and dunmer). DUnmer weren't influenced by akaviri, but they sure as hell fought them.

I believe I'd read that we'd be using the models from cait's sea life. If so then yes, there's a codfish in there.

Also I'll be packaging these fishies up in a rar file to make them available as soon as I make sure on how to name the files.

Spider, do you have all the animation files, Soundgen included, sounds, stats, etc? If so, I'll get them into the Creatures of Tamriel this week-end. As far as sounds, I'll only need the moan and scream sounds. I'll use the water sounds I have for the rest.

I'd email the texture and mesh files to yinnie and also to haplo, though yinnie has the most up to date files. If you like I'll put together an esp file for you and email them to you later tonight. I'm not a whiz at the creature AI stuff so you might want to tweak on that some, and as far as sound files go I'm at a loss. I can do soundgen, it's just that it seems kind of strange to add sounds to a fish.

OK, as long as the Soundgen ref's are in the nifs I can put in the sounds in. Scream and moan are the sounds the player hears during a hit. With fish, that'd probably be a rapid bubbling sound (no, don't send me a wav of a toilet flushing  ). Also, do you want these to be passive or aggressive fish? That is, do they ignore the Player until he attacks? That's the way I made most of Vorrheis' and Barabas' sea creatures. They make nice eye candy and liven up a boring stream or seashore. Just give me an idea of what you want, and I'll do my best.

Also, I'll need any special icons and ingredients (what a Player gets when he kills a fish (MW had scales, Barabus had fishmeat.) - I can use one of those if you like.
