Found a couple new creatures
I found a couple new creatures in the concept art. Heres a pic. Notice that Insectoid mount and those bat-like thingies.

I've seen this pic floating around here somewhere before. I believe that large insect is the basis for the plains strider that vorrheis (I think?) modelled. And those bat-like thingies, well... any chance they might be bats?
The one creature that I'm somewhat surprised hasn't caused a big commotion is the Skylamps. There is a painting here:

(BTW, is that guy riding a kagouti???)
And although this clearly shows the begginings of being a cliffracer, I'd read skylamps as being described as a "...Gas bag with spears for feet..." in a TIL interview. I assume the the origional concept idea for the skylamps ended up slintering into two seperate creatures: cliffracers and netch. All the same I'm surprised no one has jumped all over that, "OMG new lore creature!!!".
Anyhow, it just goes to show that the origional concept art can't really be taken to heart, though it does make a good resource.
And by god man, if those were cliffracers, there wouldn't be anything left of those ashlanders putzing around on the ground. I'd say they're bats, or something similar, just a mundane, non-game-influencing bit of ecology.

According to UESP's monster list, the Giant Bat is a common creature in all of Tamriel. So those could just be common Tamrielic Giant Bats.
And since we already made the Rotumbo, the original concept for the Guar, I see no reason for not making Skylamps. The Rotumbo was, after all, split into Alit and Guar. I'd like to ysee Skylamps, actually. Gas bags with spear for feet" ... sounds like an interesting monster.
While I'm at it, if you study some concepts on TIL ... man have some creatures changed. Like the mud crab ... we might just make things based on the concepts there, and we'd have a fascinating bestiarium.

Alright here:

I figure it's likely some carnivorous relation to the Netch. The gaseous sacks that protrude from it's sides would be phosphorescent, hence 'Skylamps'. A good home for it might be Eastern and Nort Eastern Argonia since it borders Morrowind. There might also be some floating around in the Argon Jungle as well.

I like it alot too, but IMO it looks nothing like the pic up there. The skylamps have two very large "fabricant-like" arms then a long tail; although the front end looks awesome. Perhaps your concept could be a different creature, because it is still truly awesome.

Hey guys thanks! Sirwoot, that concept painting clearly shows the very beginning concept for the Cliffracer. If you follow some of the interviews and concept art, etc..., you can follow the 'evolution' of the Skylamps. They started off as that Cliffracer thingy in the painting, later they were described as being big gassy bags with spears for feet (sounds like a netch, no?), then they were claimed as being responsible for eating all the Vvardenfell Dragons. In the end the idea split, we have big tentacled floating netch, and we have Cliffracers that look like UFO's and chased off all the Dragons, and somewhere along the line the name Skylamps got dropped.

I see. As for where it lives, I think it should reside in the argon jungle and around Tear (southern marshes), maybe the marshes in map 4 too; and all of argonia.
The name "skylamp" is lore-iffy though, because "skylamps" are supposed to live only around red mountain. we should give it a new name, like "Gahmalghendis" (evil-king netch) or "Alsnifghendis" (bright netch).

Hmmmm... Hate to shoot down creativity, but, according to WormGod, Sky Lamps are a more feral variety of cliff racers. Unfortunately, I forgot to get this down, largely because it was in the Morrowind chat room, just a month or two ago.
The creature still looks really cool. I don't care if you call it a sky lamp or not, make it.
