Mesh Request: New Imperial Houses

Post by Dexter »

As any of you know that have been paying attention to the Old Ebonheart thread, we are in need of some new Imperial houses. There are only three stock Imperial houses and one tavern that I feel are suitable for Old Ebonheart. The thatched-roof houses do not have the right feel, in my opinion.
So I went ahead and drew up concepts for a few new buildings. I know that these seem light, but look at them at full size and you will be able to make them out better. I can't increase their visibility because I do not have Photoshop yet.
The first sketch is not for a stand-alone structure. It is designed to be an addon for the Imperial houses. I will be able to add a ton of variety just by using this one mesh.
The second is for a new house. It is similar in size and shape to ex_common_building_02, but with a few key changes. Ex_common_building_02 has a doorway modeled into it, for whatever reason. The new one should not, and it should have solid walls. It also is two stories, so extend the stonework base to be taller, and match up with the other two Imperial houses. I would also like it if there were no windows modeled onto these. Those windows on the Imperial models make doing interiors a real pain in the ass.
The last mesh request I did not do a drawing for. I figured that a simple skywalk, similar to the thatched-roof skywalk in size, would be invaluable in the city.
Also, a key thing would be to use stock Bethesda textures, if possible. This will make it so that people who use texture-replacers do not have mismatched buildings in their city.
So any takers?

This used to be a link to a modular common house set by Zyndarr. For some reason or another (my guess is some duschebag not giving him credit in a mod) he is no longer allowing people to download it.
If any of you sneaky people out there can manage to get your hands on this pack, it would help me out a great deal.

your best off sending pm's around to all the modellers. It wouldn't be too hard to do what you ask... from the looks of it you just need to alter the existing nifs.

Just a note: we never use others' work without their approval. If he doesn't want his work used, we must respect his wishes.

Indeed; and did I mention that your set is really good? with it, we'll be able to make buildings of any shape or size, period. which rules. alot.

Again, Zyndaar, you just made my vision of the new Old Ebonheart possible. I do have one question though. I remember I had this set before my hard drive crashed, and that when I tested it out in the Construction Set, the pieces did not line up with the default grid-snap settings. What do you have to set your snap-to-grid for in order for these to all match up correctly?

Something like this ?
Here it is next to the original Ex_common_building_02.

Very nice, indeed. There were also some "old" and "poor" common int textures that I found on the CS disk and added to my first interiors. I think I sent them to Eraser for the SoT, but that was 1-1/2 years ago. I'll see if I can round them up again and put them up.

Here's the mesh anyway. I'll change the textures if you find the old and poor ones, Grey.

Alright, I have been working on the Old Ebonheart town for a few days now, using the OoT set, and it just isn't enough. If I want this town to be totally composed of common buildings without thatched roofs, I need more buildings. Zyndaar's modular common set it awesome, but you can only build gargantuan structures with it. That aside, all I have to work with are the three Bethesda common buildings, the tavern, and a tower that was included with OoT. I can't make a TR-worthy town with five pieces.
So, at this point, I either need for some kind soul to crank out a few more variants of the Bethesda common buildings, or for a moderator to tell me to screw it and used thatched-roof buildings. However, the latter will seriously detract from the appearance of the town, in my opinion.

I think you could use some thatch-roof buildings for some areas, maybe for an inn or two, to give it a cozy kind of feeling.
