Aedric Claws!
I drew some Aedric claws for the fun of it, since everyone is always forgetting about Aedra

They don't promote stability, in fact since they left the mortal plane they've done virtually nothing at all. The creation of the mortal plane was the first thing any of them ever actually did.
BTW the Aedra never manifest in the mortal plane anymore and there are only 9 of them left. They do have followers however, who would need weaponry and probably recieve special bits and bobs as rewards for long time service of their particular god, kinda like the Daedric Shrine quests in MW but, more drawn out.
Edit: this is why I hate the manga style - is that a bloke or a chick? I'm leaning towards the latter with the clothing, but the face is quite butch and there's no 'assets' so to speak.

I apologize for the unkind and unnecessary comments from some of the members of the group, Oritus. They get a little ornery late at night, early in the morning, if they haven't been fed lately, if they haven't had their afternoon nap, etc., etc., etc. But I also agree that the claws are out. They don't fit the game too well (except for the natural ones that the hunger has.)
I didn't place the image on the forums to be modelled or with the hope of it being incorparated into the game. I put it on cuz everyone seems to forget about Aedra or seems to ignore it. And I am personally fasinated by Aedra thats why I've drawn loads of stuff about it...based around what I think anyway. Such as the Aaia armour and a host of weapons.

Well they don't not change anything they promote whatever their god's sphere is, like the Maran Knights, would actively promote peace - a restoration of order if you will. The Knights of Julianos are protectors of the Elder Scrolls, ancient knowledge, also thiers is a god of Logic - orderly thought. They each in their own way maintain a form of order, which is an alternate word used to describe the Aedra as opposed to stasis.Stumpytheguar wrote:...So if the Aedra's followers do a good job of... not changing anything... they get claws?
The reason I hate manga style is because it all looks the same. So many people do it just because it's so easy, specifically for that reason! Anyone can draw a rounded head and some spikes on it.
Weapons for them doesn't make sense. Maybe shields.
I must agree about the ease of drawing manga style, if you compare it to trying to draw realistic representations (like most western art) it's a hell of a lot harder, just trying to draw a human body with realistic proportions and musculature can be a real chore. Manga is a cartoon style of art at it's heart and as so has to be more simplistic to be made into rather lengthy animations, it would just be impractical for the japs to draw whole movies in a realistic detailed style.
@ Greybeard: It seems to me that a lot of members are being shouted at just for giving a little constructive criticism now, ever since some members really went over the top on a couple of new members who didn't deserve it but we are not just having a go at Oritus, we are just saying why we don't think his claws should be in TR.
@ Oritus: I think a lot of the reason the Aedra get ignored at the moment is because they're not worshipped in Morrowind at all, the Dunmer consider them false gods and the Imperial Cult has very little influence. Hopefully the project will eventually get into Skyrim and there the worship of the 8 Divines is pretty much the main religion, so we might see a lot more Aedra related stuff there. In the meantime you should check out Jeremy's Knights of Tamriel if you haven't already, he's got 4 of the different knighthood armours available for download: Akatosh, Kynareth, Dibella and Mara, plus some armour of his own design, very cool stuff if you haven't already checked it out here's the URL, it's down at the moment because of bloody Geocities but should be back soon:

daedric weapons have the escence of daedra imbeded into them aedra are of a completely different construction and unable to be summoned and their pain tapped into an artifact. so just because daedric wares exist does not mean that a word that sounds like daedric, aedric, weapons do.
although cultists could no doubt make stuff that worships and respects their specific divine. eg jerremy's knights of tamriel

My mistake on the he/she thing, I didn't get any indication from your posts so rather than call you an 'it' I defaulted to he. Appologies. Any kind of art is difficult to draw unless you spend ages practising, or are just naturally gifted at it, but you try drawing something in a realistic style and then compare how hard it is to drawing anime, it's a lot harder in my experience.Oritus wrote:wow thats a loooooong reply lol, oh and you called me a he somewhere up in that reply...its she. Urmm oh yeah, i thank you for your constructive critism but i assure you that anime really isn't that easy to draw and as you can see im not that good at it. Anyway, have you ever heard of Aaia?
Aedric artifacts do exist but they are actual artifacts that were made by the Aedra in question - like Auri-El's shield and bow, and I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere that long-term service to one of the Aedra will result in a gift from them, remember Aedra create, Daedra change, so it's perfectly possible for them to create a gift out of nothing for one of their followers, they just can't do it the Daedra way - imbuing the essence of a lesser Daedra into the item.

Not to offend you, Oritus ... but that doesn't fit into TES, style-wise. TES is very Western in style, while your drawing clearly was influenced by eastern art. Also, the helmet is too scifi. Remembner that, for all the Dwemer steampunk-sih "technology", TES basically is a medieval fantasy universe. It's influences are mainly D&D, classical Indian art (especially in literature and deities, you see that inflience), and historical Europe (the Empire's buildings look a lot like early Frankish meshes (around 700 to 1000 AD), and Legion armour looks VERY Roman.
Please keep to that style. If you're more comfortable drawng amine style faces, no problem with that; but if you want your work included in TR, you should stick to TES-compatible style. Not to put you down or anything, but we make a mod that keeps true to that style, and hence, we want only concept art that does as well.
Oh, and I mistook you for a guy too ... the -us ending, in latin, is the male article. Like in Brutus, Julius, Marcus, Aurelius, Commodus. -a is the female ending. Sorry though.

Do not forget Stendarr's hammer in the Mournhold museum. If you assume it is a fake, that is fine, but if it is real then it puts holes in the "Aedra need no weapons 'cause they don't promote change" idea. Also, there are instances when you are visited by aedric avatars in the game. If they don't care about events on Nirn, why visit Nerevar?
Trudging through the relentless Skyrim snowstorms, the lone Paladin looks on in sorrow as the land of Tamriel evolves without him; his mind occupied with other matters.

Well, the hammer is not a fake we know of Auri-El's bow and shield which are real, they would have needed weapons when they were on Nirn in physical form, and those weapons could now be gifts to their followers every now and then. As I said in my last post it's not necessarily they don't change anything, it's that they seek order, which requires a lot of things to stay the same. I don't buy it that that's actually Zenithar visiting you in game. Tiber Septim giving you the coin doesn't count because he's not an Aedra. I'd assume they care about events on Nirn because they seek to undo the damage done by Lorkhan, or at least Auri-El does, he ascended to heaven Jesus-stylee to show the Altmer how they could escape Nirn aswell.

Based on Hermits comment I changed my designs and came up with these random pictures....so can you tell me what you think. And if these new pictures fit in with the morrowindish theme.

the daedric princess looks too harmless, and as for aedra they do not manifest into any form. they are just out there doing as little as possible.
but still nice drawings.
maybe try some creatures instead of humaniods?

Hmmm.
1. Daedric princess/priestess
She looks waaaaaaay too nice and human. At the very least, she should have some horns, eyes without pupils (narrow), and a somewhat different skin colour. Or, in best ES tradition, wear hardly anything (as the Seducer and Namira, Mephala and Azura did in Daggerfall). Those are what ES demands of daedra who appear as female humanoids.
Most Daedra qualify as monsters. You could maybe modify her to be a subordinate of Namira, that daedra whose sphere is the essence of life, but then, she should wear something like a robe.
2. Aedric ... person
Nice staff. I really like it. However, I really dislike the angels' wings. Not only would an angel be hell to script (having both walk and fly animations), it is also not in lore and, sorry, a very over used and cheesy motif, IMO.
As for the general idea of an Aedric subordinate: I like it. Aedra surely use messengers of some kind. Maybe even some sort of own forces. They should be in tune with the Aedra, though. Akatosh should command dragons. Mara could command something a lot like the modern interpretation of an angel (the nice and balancing type, not the Taleban-with-wings from the Old Testament). Stendarr have Nordic-like hordes of warrior souls. And so on. It just makes sense they go out of their way to create something so the Daedra don't send their forces to change them away.
3. And one word about your drawings. Your style looks nice, but you should remember to draw your figures along an axis that is upright for frontal views, always. Bipedal beings look terribly out of balance otherwise, like they'd just fall over every second.
Keep it up, and maybe try yourself on some creatures for a change.

Aedra have no subordinates; you see the Daedra create their subordinates out of their own essence and so while they are seperate physically they always know what's going on with their subordinates, which is why they get bored of their lesser creatures and interfere with mortals.
Aedra can not afford to create creatures from their own essence in this manner as they would be further weakened - they did that to create the world and it made them mortal (but still living for ever and almost all powerful) - the lesser Aedra are elves and men, Aedra means 'our ancestors' the elves and men are descended from them and hence are the only Aedric 'persons' you'll ever meet.

I drew this based on Hermit's princeable that Daedra dont wear much clothes: a princeable that I personally really like. =) Its a Daedric Assassin. Oh and the left hand is really rubbish, my tech teacher told me to stop drawing so I had to rush that bit.

Now we're getting where we should be!
There're the Seducer (a succubus) and the Dark Seducer (a BDSM succubus with wings). Also, Sanguine certainly needs some subordinates, which should be along the lines of this (or we just assign the seducers to him). Additionally, as the Daggerfall and Battlespire monsters on UESP showed, daedra that chose to appear as females tend to rarely wear anything besides a token gown.
Anyway, we could also make some higher-ranking succubi, and for that, such concepts could be used.
The hip/waist ratio is odd, though. the hip'sright side should be a bit wider. Otherwise, good work. I like the skirt!

I think Xianghua's hairstyle would work well there.
But, why do you keep draing anime faces? IMO The female faces you drwa look revolting, kinda like seeing a hot body on an ugly face. I've seen you can draw everything else well and not anime-distorted' why not mmake the faces look realistic too? And its not like the modellers are gonna make some anime-style models; that would so NOT fit in Tamriel. So, since its gonna be changed anyway, why not chnage it first on the paper?
Oh, and don't think of Daedra and Aedra as Demons and Angels. While it may seem like it's the all-too-cheesy cliche, if you lok into lore you'll find this is not necessarily the case.
Oh, and a Daedric Seducer and all has already been drawn for concept art, check out the concept aret page at the TR site.

I so hope they have mullets for Altmer in the next TES game, my character will need a mullet, LOL.
Ah well, Re: the Aedra/Daedra thing, yes they really aren't angels/demons, they are both infinite beings (the Daedra Princes and the Aedra) who are pure order and pure chaos respectively; they are not good or evil as they existed before concepts of good and evil did. They are amoral; their followers attach to them labels of 'good' and 'evil'.

Most of the Time. I've seen manga pictures though that bleew my mind (not sure if that is a big achievement). The reason I hate manga style is because it all looks the same. Still, Aedra, claws, no. I would see the aedra as using something like Stednar's Hammer, seeing as it was an Aedra's. Not ninja junk, but wrather, divine warrior type junk, if any at all. The Assassin looks good though.
Stendarr is the God of Mercy and Justice. Therefore, he must also be the bearer of Duck Tape, for only Mercy and Justice can use Duck Tape for the Good of man.
