Dun dadunalun dun dun!
I came up with an idea. Not exactly refined, or even very original, but I think, with enough scripting and dialogue choices and whatnot, it may work. Here's my idea:
A strategy game. Wow, that's original, ain't it. But instead of chess, it's more like a war game (though chess is a war game, but this is simplified) with a battlefield and whatnot. You have several Armies, and you're against an Opposing Force. (or the Enemy General, or whatever) You then must make tactical decisions for your armies, and the Enemy General makes tactical decisions for his.
As an example: you are the l337_uber_general_23, and you are versus g_freeman_general_04, and after reeling from the excessive use of underscores, he challenges you to a War Duel (or Battlefield Simulation, or whatnot). You accept, dutifully, because you realize that without completing this quest, you will not find another fun uberweapon in TR. So. He brings you to a table that has various map-like images on it, four red army pieces, and four blue army pieces. He gets first move: red army one moves north. Then it's your turn: blue army three moves east. Whichever army meets the other army first wins. So, when blue army two meets red army four, red army four is decimated and removed from play. Etc.
It's really dumb and simplified down to the basics, but it would be fun in game. Not much strategy, but... it's hard to make strategy using the Morrowind engine. Just trying to help out...

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
I just played a match, and I have to say it was challanging. At first the computer was beating me, but later on we took out most of each other's pieces, with me being left with a pawn and the king, and him a pawn, king and knight. My king was one square below and one square to the right of his king, and my pawn was two squares below his king. I moved the pawn up, and stupidly, he killed it, at which point he was open to my king. But most of his moves were very intelligently done. The main gripe I had was the fact that every computer turn, the computer had to ponder its turn for over two minutes. I think this could be incorporated easily into TR.
On a side note and kind of off-topic, how do I upload an avatar here? Do I have to reach a certain number of posts first?

If we are allowed to use this, I think changing the pieces to represent gods would be the best bet. Maybe add a battle sound (like people screaming battle cries) when a piece overtales another.

I know how to upload images and everything, I just didn't see the one here for some reason. Thanks for the help!

Yeap. That might work. But we need:
1) more people to test it
2) core to take a look at it
3) receive permission to use it
4) maybe modify it a bit (I mean the AI)
and only than think about making it to fit our needs.

Modifying is a must. It`s way to random. And much to easy. For certain people we could put certain moves and strategies. It wouldn`t be to many scripts added, but the esp is already, what, one mg? Yes it is, and that`s a shit load. At least for an esp. Now, back to altering it. Advise the core, then we`ll get to work. Perhaps different moves will depend on intelligence. It would make it more realistic, at least on the NPCs part.
And now the question of the year: are we going to make it or no ? Core ? Should I even bother finding AI script there ? Or let's screw the idea ?
Sorry for spam BTW. I'm now the spammer no.2 after Stumpy.

I haven't seen it yet. And as to the Gmods accepting this, it may take time. One will take a look, talk to the others, and then choose together. That's what has been explained to me. The core's job is to look after the forums (more or less: note this is a very brief statement). So I hardly doupt it will take to long uuntil one notices it.
I'm guessing first they'll test it, or get someone to. Then they'll discuss, and choose blablabla. As to them accepting, it is a bit to random and would require more scripting. While stalker and I could work on it (or at least I think I could), they still need to go through it.

Well, they'll most probably (not 100% sure) check the original mod. Comment about it, then perhaps do a quick check to see if any one wants to fix it up. I would, stalker perhaps (not sure). But we still have our plates full. I'm not sure about stalker but I have about 5 interiors to do, this includes the ordinator faction thing if I am the one to do it, and limited time on the computer.
But eventually, when chrismas holidays come, TR will most probably take a sky rocketing progress. Then things will get done.
