Pottery Meshes

Post by Asylum »

Sorry to start a new thread again for again some pottery meshes.
But well here they are:

I'm also working on tools which a potter would use to make pottery. Which i would post images off also.
if someone has pictures or drawings of nice pottery wheels please PM them to me.

Asylum, these are really nice! You always do a great job in creating all the little bitty things that no one else seems to want to do.

that table-birdbath thing is great, as are the pottery.
However, the plates look kind of... crappy, like painted stop signs. I would suggest to make them much more rounded along the edges.

actually sirwoot, Im pretty sure those are retextured soooo whatever issue you have with the meshes, take it up with Bethsoft, the thing about misc items of this size, the polygon shape issue is really decreased because it is much smaller in the game, and also I dontthink that was a flattering screenshot

Nice wheel Asylum, I have a suggestion though. You might want to give the table top a different texture, something like smooth polished wood or stone. It's a real big hassle to peel a wet vase or bowl off of a rough surface.

But aside from that, if you give that thing a foot pedal of the sort that an old sewing machine might have, you've got another masterpiece.

sorry but i don't understand what you mean, sorry for my english..
and the top texture you're probably nice, i picked it because it looked nice but indeed it wouldn't work.
the consept idea of such pottery wheel comes from a drawing about an ancient egyptian pottery wheel.

thanks

ps: i would like to have some more consepts of some more pottery wheels. it may be pictures, drawings, sketches. imperial style, house style, nordic style anything will do. exept indoril.

You know ... we might need a clay pit container to place in exteriors and a clay ingredient ... just thinking. After all, that pottery has to be made from *something* ...

Neat!

The Indoril pottery looks great, btw - I am sure it'll fit right in with Almalexia, or another of our Indoril cities. :)

Very slick Asylum. I see two things that you might consider adding
1) A stool in front of the pottery wheel
2) A few kilns with which to fire the pottery

Also here's a link to an antique sewing machine pic. It vaugley shows what I meant about the foot pedal if you notice primarily the pedal and the wheel located on the stand.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v149/JTI_77/howeet2.jpg

I think that if you add a simple axle from the base of the stand, with a wheel and attached pedal you can effect something somewhat realistic. Here's a real simple sketch to demonstrate.

The stool seems a good idea to me, but i'm not going to add it myself because the pics where just a demo. but if someone makes the potterers interiour someday for TR, i'll see to it that he puts a stool down infront of the wheel.

about the kiln, in the first pic you actually see a baking oven for the pottery, it's basicly just a large stone pit in which you add a layer of sawdust and then some pottery, another layer of sawdust then again pottery till the pit is full, then you fire up the sawdust and put the lid on top of it (with a little airholes) and it burns up very slowly with a lot of heat, just enough to fire the pottery

and thanks for the pictures spider, i might bring out an more advanced mesh of the imperial pottery wheel, but the indoril and hlaalu are staying that way because they are build to be moved by hand, as the RL pottery wheels where that i got the idea of.

I've repacked all the pottery meshes, with pottery wheels, pottery tools, a sponge into one nice clean pack with all .dss texture files. Please use this .esp and not the old esp's.
sorry for the trouble this might cause some people, but this will be better in the future.

it is a real shame these cant be added yet, cause I took a look at them and the meshes themselves and textures are great.

Its that bounding issue, when you press f after dropping them into the screen they disappear... its a real shame, I dunno why it does it, and why it only does that when I use your meshes Asylum, but there has to be some way to fix it I hope because this is some great work

I know how to fix them, but i don't have a lot of time lately to spend behind my pc to fix all my old models. i still have half of my shrooms to fix, the junk models, my containers and then my pottery meshes and probably i have forgotten some other meshes too.
but i'm doing my best.

maybe it's like that problem with pressing the 'T' button to see top view of the item, and you go about 50 cells down/up/sidways/backwards. Maybe it just relocates the object to some odd cell. I dunno if this is the case, or if this is easier to fix, just voicing a suggestion.

The junk models are fixed except for the glass shards. The alpha mapping got screwed up when the model was re-exported.

I can help you fix the bounding box issue if you want. So you don't have to do it all yourself.

I noticed this same glitch when I was goofing around with the mushrooms a few months back.
Look around the cell for them - they usually end up going way the hell down and a bit to the side. just slightly nudge your mouse over them, and they will magically pop back to their original posiion. Weird, but truth.

yea, thats the general bounding box issue. The problem is, everytime you reload the cell they go to that position again I am told.
