Claim 4-22 - Progress

Post by Feored »

I'm just getting started so I haven't achieved anything substatial yet. Anyway I going to stick in style to what Aaron (working on Septims Gate, 4-33) suggested: West gash/Ashlands Style.
Since this mountain chain is meant do be rather uncrossable I decided to raise it pretty high (10k to 13k). Higher than the peaks around Septims Gate (Aaron wrote them to be about 10k maximum) since why would you need a pass if the neighboring peaks aren't essentially higher.
What about snowcovered peaks? BM provides all essential rocks and textures and these mountains would look pretty impressive form afar.

the problem wif snow topped peaks is just that a) you wont be able to see them from afar because of the crappy fog effect and b) we generally dont have snow in vvardenfell because Red Mountain is the highest mountain their and it doesnt have snow although this could be explained by the volcanic activity...
i dunno ask the core.

I guess it should be okay. Though I would avoid using BM stuff as much as possible since we barely use it anyways. The less dependent we are on a whole expansion set the better.

Here's a first impression of what I've achieved so far. Not much actually, just raised land a dropped a few rocks in to see how they would fit.
I decided to keep the snow for now, and raised the Peaks higher (12k to 14k). I put more snow on the northern flanks of the mountains, where it is most likely to survive through the summer. The screenshot is taken from the Northeast, so the snow you see is about all there is to see.

Try to make textures stretch as little as possible, and use loads of rocks and stones to give variation to the mountains. Very important.

THX for the hint. Already working on it. There's hardly ground left to be seen anymore.

Seems like I'm slowly getting somewhere.
I've put in a minor dwemer ruin and a tomb entrance. The ruins are mostly hidden from view and cannot be reached aside from levitation.
Thought it would be a nice quest to enter the dwemer ruins through a hidden passway in the tomb.

I'll post a alpha version of 4-22 later today.
Might be that you've read something similar earlier, Broode. 8)

Greetings!

After a rather extendet Xmas vacation I took on work on the claim. A (hopefully)final version of 4-22 should be available next week.

Since some of you downloaded the first version, I'd like you to post comments on it.

Claim finished

Post by Feored »

This one's done.

I finished 4-22 and did some changes on the two northern cells of 4-31 to smoothen the borders, then merged the two claims.

PS: IMHO the mountains in 4-31 need some redoing.
