I took these when I was at a museum recently.. they're part of my growing collection of stock photography. I thought they might be of some use to you.

wow, productive weekend, lute. The serpentine armor looks good, I especlaly like the helm. Perhaps for templars of satakal or something? I like the second helm less, it kind of looks like a fish to me.

The concubine is an intersting idea. Does anyone know, btw, if hats and wigs will be possible in OB? I am also a big fan of the jewery you used on her, nice african falvor. I would be a fan of less tatooing, though. To me tatoos look very tribal, while cocubines are ususaly city dwellers (or at least the ones in rihad). I think there are some interesting things to be done with makeup, different cultures have done some odd things...

Well, we know there are indeed helmets in the game, couldn't it just act as a type of helmet in that respect, replacing the hair model?
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

Morden, Thankee for the photos! I didn't know how unreliable it is to look for that technology via google until before. Expect to see my next doodle incorperate this and a good influence of that helm :D

And Macar, you're right about the tattooings. I originally intended it to be simple makeup and paints, but really I was just doodling around, hehe

Great design on the concubine Lute, I like the wig thing, it reminds me of something I saw on tv about a Chinese tribe called long horn miao. They use wigs to attract men to be their husbands. Here's an image of them:

Oh, and Morden, I made a concept of something along the lines of that armor already. Look here: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?t=15650

You see, I'm on a bit of vacationing at my sister's place in downtown Vancouver, and all recent posts are made from their (quite spiffy) computer.
Do not fret, as I'll clump them all together (people seem to enjoy that more :])

If you approve, i'd like to color some of your work for future use in an official concept art release. I'm also willing to do different color variations, if you have any preferences, or know of details i've missed, let me know. ;)Here's my work so far:

Morden, your skill with the digital brush further cements the fact that your detail exceeds my own digital painting by centuries :D

Once again, sorry for the abrupt leave of absence. I'll make up for it to myself and the crew with a couple of updates:

What can I say about this one? several concubines of varying age/experience, which shows typically the range of gradutation

Another dunedweller, equipped with the more practical eyepiece that was provided :)

I'm always amazed at the people you draw. I just finished staring at the latest dunedweller pic for a few minutes straight. :P The inuit googles look great on him, and the knife is simple, yet characteristic of their harsh environment. The detail will also make it a pleasure to model and texture.

If you're interested, it think it would be a great benefit to the project if you continued to exploring new armor sets and generally fleshing out the people of Hammerfell.

Lutemoth! good to see ya back. I like the new dunedweller. Intentionaly or otherwise, I think you have given this costume less bulk than previous incarnations. That gives him a more menacing and dangerous look. I like the squinters too, that makes him look more intelegent. Nice sword.

ohh, I love it, Lady Nerevar! It's quite splendid detailing, and goes to prove the need for colour in a bleakly coloured landscape in their culture.

Also, as a note, would it make sense that in larger desert towns the clothing (like in daggerfall) would become more colourful, and in more fertile areas, the fabrics would be pale and white? This, of course, would exclude areas that do or do not have main water access, and the ability to make these dyes from those waters.

edit] as Morden has mentioned it's needed, I'd love to continue on the armour design warpath! I'll see what else I can incite today, as I've got nothing else planned :P

Why would areas that are fertile be unable to make dyes and desert areas be able to? Either way, thats a level of realism I don't think we really need, because it would make the clothing very uninteresting.

I don't mean by a perspective of abilities, but of if they would want it or not. This is only an observation to earth cultures, as the more mundane the biome is, the more colourful the clothing becomes. (egyptians, nepalese, Kenyan ect.) The same goes vice-versa in lush environments (Nigeria, for instance) where the most common clothing is the whitest of whites.

Now that I think of it, though, it would be too much of a mirroring to already existing cultures (to the extent of boring)

That's interesting, I wonder why that is. They must be bored in the desert.

That said, I think we should just give them regular clothes, because almost everyone is going to live in a "modern" local.

You're very right, as the cultures I referenced to are typically behind the 3rd era. In fact, it's a relief that most of Hammerfell is influenced by the empire, as it saves on clothing designs on that end.

Yes. The only ones who will have fancy clothes are the dunedwellers, who conveniently all live in the same region.

Just a bit of wandering around on these concepts here, nothing concrete

although I could be wrong, but it's safe to say that redguards are more famous for melee than they are with a bow and arrow. This armour kindav steadfasts that, as though it may be light, it is still somewhat restricting. This is more favourable for crossbowmen, and those who wouldn't need to flee or run.

And this guy? I dunno who the hell he is... A yoku that likes to dress warmly? Beats me..

Hmm... the first one looks like it might be found somewhere along the coast, in one of the poorer towns perhaps? The second one, for some reason, makes me think Necromancer. They do live in caves/ruins, and such places would be colder than the desert, I think... though I don't know how much colder...

Anyways, great drawings, as always :D I love that dagger posted earlier. :)

thank you a thousand thanks, PoHa! That thing describing him as a necromancer has inspired me anew. I'm thinking Yoku/Regada inspired necromancy of the dragontail mountains, something that'll follow that fluffly, scraggy zombie I made earlier

The armor looks great, though it does remind me of samurai armor but that's probably just because it uses flaps to cover the upper legs and shoulders. The helm reminds me of western medieval crossbowmen's helm. Thus, it indeed seems like a crossbowmen's outfit.

Helm does indeed look like an archer's helm, though its close to a western archer's helm and I'm not so sure it fits with the outfit.

It's without a doubt very nicely drawn and detailed :), but perhaps it could be updated with some african or arabic elements. Its a bit hard to distinguish as coming from hammerfell. Perhaps its the furry feel that it gives, which makes my think its more suited to a colder climate, such as Skyrim.

Keep 'em coming :)

Here's that Necromancer of the Regada mountains I was talking about earlier. The thought process that went through my head was:
Should I make him look badass?
Yes, yes, I will

Anyways, enjoy. I'll make an update on that archer/crossbowmen suit in a bit

Awesome. It definately looks more Persian. And I really like how you've use some of the clothing styles and patterns from your other peices. It adds a sense of style between the different concepts.
