3/4 lengths

Post by S'Kala »

Is there such thing as 3/4 length trousers in morrowind? If not, would it be a good idea?

It'd make sense for dockers, etc. Seems a little too modern for TR, IMO.

Yes, i suppose it would be a bit modern, but maybe they would also be good for the common category of clothing...? i'm not sure.

I'm sqarely against that. It's too modern, lore-breaking, and 3/4 pants looks stupid anyway, even on women.

Now, oriental-style pants or something like that ... well, that's an entirely different matter. But no modern-style 3/4 pants. No way.

There are period (around 1400 AD) pants that lower classes wore called 'Nickers' and they are 3/4 length.

And 1400s ... geez ... renaissance ... people had no fashion sense back then. ;)

I never said they had to be modern style 3/4 lengths. But i agree with hermit, the 1400s wasn't the best year for fashion.

There is no lore supporting it, and no lore against it. I want Falmer (which haven't been proven extinct) and an island just south of Port Telvannis with a full glass armor set and two eltonbrands and 1,000,000 gold. It's not lore breaking, but it doesn't fit, at all.

Yeah, that's probably the smartest thing I've said here.

I'd quote you in my sig, but quoting myself is so much cooler :). I'd like to see some ragged peasant 3/4 lengths, if, as Noirgrim said, they'd fit in medieval style. Otherwise, no go.

I thought we said in another topic that we weren't going to be adding new clothes into the game. (or am I wrong?) also, S'Kala can't mod anything because she hasn't got the game. As a matter of fact, she has hardly played it at all except at my house so that would be why she lacks lore knowledge a little bit (sorry K)

Yeah, you would be wrong there. We are indeed adding clothing.

Ok ok, my bad  still, i dont like the idea of 3/4 lengths. UNLESS they were perhaps tattered at the bottoms, like they had been all worn out and the person was too poor to afford new ones

We can't do them anyways. The way that bodyparts are broken up in the CS would make 3/4 length pants nearly impossible, and totally not worth the effort it would take to get them to work.

Bullshit. Ever heard of racial scripting ? Probably not. I'm not saying that we need to make 3\4. I'm just saying that they can be done.

Yes, I have heard of racial scripting. I've seen it on clothing mods before. I also know how it works. And I stand by my comment that it would not be worth the effort and time it would take.
Next time, see if you can be more hostile.

Sorry for it. Not in the right mood to post now. I think I should refrain from posting today...

I would like to point out that there are some mods out there that do not use 'racial scripting', yet still show skin. I believe Niero's Thin Clothing mod is one of them, and Robearberbil & Korana also made a mod for Better Bodies that had dresses in them that showed skin at the neck and down the top of the chest. I'm not entirely sure how its done, but i suspect it may be transparencies/alpha channels in the textures, or maybe even something as simple as there not being mesh there. At any rate, it is possible to do this without the use of traditional racial scripting. As to whether it's worth the time, well, that's not for me to decide.
