my armor...it probably breaks lore though

Post by der gottlose »

It's kind of a sixth house armor. Like stated above, though, it probably breaks and blows its nose in all known lore. If anybody wants me to, though, I will expund on the idea.

And for those of you who I pissed off, I am sorry. I was in a pessimistic mood that fateful day, and while I know that's no excuse, I do hope you can understand.

Only in body parts form, not on an NPC. So it's sort of rough. I may add a little blood if so desired.

This is very nice looking, looks old and rusted and cultish, I can actally forsee a possible use for this...It may work well for certain members (lets call them enforcers for now) of the Molag Bal cult...or maybe just armor for daedric cultists in genreral.

Not sure how it would break lore unless I should really recognize those symbols from somewhere. Should I?

Being iron, yeah it kindof does :P

Try working with Chitin, netch or bonemold, native dunmer styles. Also, their symbol doesn't have to be the red on an armor piece like on those altars, bells, other creepy 6th house stuff etc.

There are also lots of tools and filters you can use to get the emblem to fit the curve of the armor pieces. You're using photoshop right?

I think I used the heartfire amulet texture. Heh.

And yes, I used photoshop. So, what armor would you definetly (i.e. what I should do right now, not could) like to see like this? Reply within a decent amount of time and I might even get started tonight!

P.S. Glad you like it.

I'd transform this piece into something maybe a daedric cultist would wear instead of a 6th house armor. Use the daedric font, same color as the red 5th house symbol and type some rantings and then make it look as if they were painted on in some crude way.

For 6th house armor, I'd simply go with a shield with the 6th house emblem, in color tones matching whats used on native dunmer styles. Personally I'd go with chitin, since the 6th house was supposed to be all but defunct, they really wouldn't have the resources for bonemold.

While we won't have the 6th house on the mainland, I wouldn't mind a very few shields circulating in black markets.

man, that's not very good. It looks like you just changed the tint to a purple and added red blotches or maybe my resolution is just bad. Either way it needs some work.

Thanks stumpy! EDIT: and negrodomous

And Thane;

First: it's ROUGH! My first and most recent posts said that. And purple is evil. This is not purple. Is your monitor color off?

Second: that wasn't constructive, you didn't tell me what I should do to change it.

Third: It is horrible resolition. That's what JPEGs do.

Fourth: Sorry to anyone who is offended by this post.

I think it looks nice, but I'm curious of how it would look with a little bit more blackish and toned down a tiny bit more. Would this be much trouble? Or do you think that wouldn't look fine(seeing as I have no experience in this field).

Fourth: Don't worry, that's not offensive.

Oh sure, I can edit it. I just wanted to see if people liked the idea/design. I'll probably even redo it completely. It was a rough draft type, A.K.A less than two minutes of playing in photoshop and it was born.

Oh...fuck...I did do it reversed. And no, I haven't made another version yet. HUGE paper I had to write. Very time consuming (damned literature)

Thane: Saying "either way it needs some work" if your resolution is bad is not really telling me what to fix. Everyone else (excluding Eraser, for obvious reasons) liked it, so it may be your computer or personal preferences getting in the way of construcitve criticism.

Again, sorry if I offended anyone. It doesn't look like I did, but you never know with some people. I'll probably get back onto this (no, not like that, pervert...jk) within the next week, I'm just not to motivated today. Go figure. Tofu-mayonnaise.

Ok, everything looks good to me, agree with Eraser about which should be for the cultists and which for the 6th house, but either way I think the work you presented was high quality. Anyway good look on your paper.

Sojourn: I know, I'll get on it as soon as possible. And, no, I'm not "just hueing it and pasting the 'decal' of...", I do a lot more than that in photoshop to make it jook like it is. Believe me, Photoshop has toooooo many features. And I use them.

Heh.

If they are painted on make it look more like paint. A bit more blurr for example. And please do not add the red tint to the whole armor.

Hmm, really? If so, I guess I should just redo the whole thing, as it would not be feasible to carve "red" onto iron armor.

EDIT: Okay Stalker...okay...back to Photoshop...expect it to be a while, though, as I am disappointed with myself.

A few more suggestions. Try to make the runes look more like paint. Add some weathering maybe...

Do you happen to know the name of a tool in Photoshop 7 that would weather things? I can't locate one...believe me, I've looked for a long time. I was sad when I couldn't locate one. As a matter of fact, I still am. :(

For the purposes of the Molag Bal cult I imagined the runes being painted on and the armor having the same stats as normal iron. It's meant to be a little ad hoc armor decorations to honor the Daedra Prince being worshoped.

Stop worrying so much about offending people, and people need to stop being so offended by little things.

PS7 has alot of nice features, but if you really want to get things done, you should learn and practice using the basic tools rather then the effects. Effects eventually look the same, and its hard sifting thro them all to find the right one when you could have just done it yourself. I also suggest messing with the smug tool with a custom brush.

So far these look good tho, keep it up.
