House of Mages
Hi there, I'm new to this place [and from Denmark; excuse my spelling errors], but I do have some ideas...
I'm really fond of mages and I thougt that you maybe could create a palace of sorcery, located in a beautiful garden!!
This isn't going to be a Great House or a faction as great as Mages Guild, but a refugee for all mages - A house of lore.
Maybe there could be some minor quests in this palace. Fx a quest to find a holy relic, or certain flowers to the garden that surrounds the palace, or pray and meditate on a certain place...
There could also be a test in this house, where you should complete a test - Face a number of mages and kill them [maybe just defeat them], or helping them. When this test is done, well... I don't know, but I hope some of you who reads this is getting good ideas...

I've heard your name before... are you from ESF? And really, your english is better than a great deal of our members who are native speakers! You even know how to properly use a semicolon! Yay!
Your suggestion seems applicable, although I'm not sure where we'd put such a place. Scripting for such quests would be rather simple, all save for the dueling part. Zalzidrax and I have been attempting to work out scripts for such duels for the longest time, and we're having a bit of trouble coming to a reasonable solution.

Can you do:
Just put a good healer w/ 100% absorb/reflect, and say they did it.
Code: Select all
resurrect
setfight 0
stopcombat
Tamriel is an impossible place, built on impossible precepts. It's, frankly, a magic ball of sentient schizophrenia. --MK
WEll, its mainly the player dying that is the problem. NPC's can just be resurrected via script. Some weapons can deal 40 damage in one hit, and that's more health than starting characters have. My level 13 mage has only around 70 because I didn't focus on endurance, because I didn't need it. So we'd have to stop the fight when the player gets below 40, more if there's higher level weaponry involved, and taht excludes a great many characters, and makes them lose much more easily than they really should.
I think the best plan is to first, not allow people below 70 health (assuming that there may be daedric weapons involved here) and then have a script running constantly during the match, healing any damage dealt during the frame, and then damaging fatigue an equal amount. A combatant is out when they reach 0 fatigue.

Get PC health, divide it on 3, save to variable. Do a check. Here ya go. Or if his health is really low - just don't allow the fight.Zalzidrax wrote:WEll, its mainly the player dying that is the problem. NPC's can just be resurrected via script. Your friendly slavedriver.

Ehm... Sorry, I don't even know what ESF is...
Otherwise I'm very glad that you like my little idea...
But actually my idea was a fairly good palace... (except for the duel)
I imagine a palace surronded by a beautiful garden, could be called garden of twillight, where you see mages wandering around to collect magical ingredients...
Well maybe you could call me a bit sentimental, but I don't see the world of Tamriel as a place of disturbing and wars (all the time...), but also as a great place of lore and beauty
