Less Wooden NPCs

Post by El Scumbago »

Okay, here's another big bolt-on idea, given that the mod's author is willing to permit its use in the TR project.
The mod I'm suggesting this time is called "The Regulars" and it simply adds sitting NPCs all over bars and taverns in Vvanderfell Isle.
The modder used another kind of pants for those NPCs that apparently allows them to sit.
In my opinion it would make the NPCs seem more like men/mer and less like wooden dummies.
Would be a nice addition...

I like this idea, I always wondered if those people in vvardenfel never got tired standing all day long. Also maybe you could make people lay down, like sleeping and stuff.

It's a very nice idea and it would add lots of variety and eye-candy, but i think only static bodies can be placed this way (lying).
Maybe someone can script it, but then again, I can't tell for sure

With the little I know about Morrowind CS, I can tell you that sitting and other stuff like that is done by animations which is much harder then scripting.

Just make them "knocked out." Like after too much hand-to-hand combat. Add a script that keeps their fatigue below zero; they'll lie where you put them but you'll be able to see them breathing. I think their eyes would be open though. Anyone know if there's a way to control the blinking?
But yes, sitting is another story. I'm pretty sure they don't have prepackaged animations for that.
Imagine my insult to find that "Raw Glass has no effect on you." I became very huffy at the implication that my intelligence could not be lowered further. Then again, I did just eat a piece of glass.

The problem with groza528's idea is that the way they fall is random.

Couldn't you just pick out a particular animation and script it to play on the NPC? Then again, I don't know anything about animations, just some knowlege from the WCIII engine.

I say... have the knocked over people scrubbing floors.
Stendarr is the God of Mercy and Justice. Therefore, he must also be the bearer of Duck Tape, for only Mercy and Justice can use Duck Tape for the Good of man.

I'm pretty shure that scumbag is reffering to an existing mod, we can use that one, or make our own version of the same idea. The thing about having knocked out people on beds is, they dont look asleep, they look like they collapsed. Not to mention, it's kindof wierd to have them lying fully clothed, on top of the blankets. So, sitting is a good idea, sleeping, not so much.

Can't We Sript It That They DO Look Asleep?Like Have It Were They Are On The Bed Almost Naked With Covers On?

As Starcrunch said earlier, NPCs fall random and you can't predict which way they fall. That's why you can't lay them on the bed in an orderly fashion. You can have them laying around in an area, but not on a bed. And people sleeping on the floor just doesn't cut it.

Can't We Have It Were There Lying On The Bed And Not Fallen. Plus In Ocr Homes I Won't Be Surprized To See People Sleeping On The Floor  .

Hey hey hey, wait a sec!
I'm afraid my posts are everything but understandable (weird, I never thought my english are that bad :( )
Anyway, I'm talking about an existing mod. As I already mentioned, it can be found in the morrowind summit website (http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/index.asp) and if anyone is interested to see how it works, simply search via the associated button in the mod database's screen and dl it. It's quite small.
And no, it has nothing to do with animations, just a bunch of people who spend their life sitting on a chair/bench/whatever.

Another similar interesting mod is the groovy animations, for dancers mostly.
I know, I never give up on suggesting mod resources...

So is anyone willing to get that mod and add these NPCs to places in Vvardenfell and TR? If so it'll make a good bolt-on.
