Dwemer Question

Post by Anonymous »

Alright, this might actually sound relatively boneheaded, but am half asleep and "slightly" drugged up on pain meds...*grin*... so am asking anyhow...

Is it possible, or probable, that dwemer technology extended to the creation of something similar to the ghost fence?

This may have been answered elsewhere, but if it has I havn't found it yet, and I haven't seen it covered in any books I have read yet. The reason I am asking is cuz the answer would have an impact on a quest I am working on the outline for, so thanks in advance.

There is no evidence that I can think of of the Dwemer using Forcefields.

Ghost Fences are made from souls, by the way.

A little bit off topic, but does anyone else think it's rather odd that an imperial used a ghost fence in his basement so he could have dwemer animunculi fights? :P If you tried to put that in TR you'd get your head bitten off!

Weren't Ghostfences commonplace before the Blight arrived?

I suppose the fence the Imperial used was conjured by him.

Ghost fences are a Dunmeri creation to my knowledge. The idea of an imperial building one right under Almalexia's nose with undoubtably unwilling spirits (unless he's got a bunch of ancestors who don't mind being used for other people's entertainment?) is quite simply rediculous.

Unless he used Dwemer tech...

No. Ghostfences are souls of Ancestors. And I know that Beth screwed up sometimes. The guy probably used a bunch of souls of rats for example and created something simular to Ghostfence.

Maybe, the Ghostfence was already there when he moved in. The mansion might have been abandoned for centuries.

Yeah, people donated their smaller ghostfences to add on to the big one so that the Tribunal could hold off the blight.

(hope that wasn't a run-on...)

I think that they may have been able to reasch a similar effect with electricity...ie a sort of lightning wall. It wouldnt be a constant thing, just bolts flicking across every few seconds and shock damage for walking into it.

Though Im assuming that what powers those lights is electricity ;)

Unless they really like the heat, the Dwemer could've used force fields as thermal isolators in their facilities. Lava flows often seen in dwemer ruins.

Yes but we all know that the lava in morrowind is as dangerous as particuarlly warm rice pudding with a lot of jam. Burns on contact but other than that doesnt do much.

Lava rising through a Dwemer Facility potentionally destroying lot's of equipment. Also, that's lava in game, but let's think of it as really dangerous lava, the real kind. Otherwise, we're building things based off the game engine, instead of the game.
Pwn: "The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts; for example, "he just got pwned in that debate" or "the hunters pwned that bear."
