Valenwood
Okay, everyone. I'm not trying to distract us from finishing up Morrowind Rebuilt, but I've checked around, and I'm pretty sure there's still no topic on what Valenwood's going to be like! Are there any Tamrielic loremasters out there who might shed a little light on that province?
well it's basically just a big forest, I think. There was a TC or something at some point to build Valenwood, just like there is to build Argonia, but I'm not sure if either is still around.

Specific quote: "Valenwood is a largely uninhabited forest wilderness. The coasts of vallenwood are dominated by mangrove swamps and tropical rain forests, while heavy rainfalls nurture the temperate inland rain forests. The bosmer live in timber clanhouses at sites scattered along the coast and through the interior, connected only by undeveloped foot trails. The few imperial roads traverse vast dense woodlands, studded with tiny widely separated settlements, and carry little trade or traffic of any kind." (from "Provinces of Tamriel") Not sure if that helps, though.
touche... of course, the term "moving city" doesn't necessarily mean it has to go at a constant, walking pace. Perhaps it would only make a move at such long intervals that it would appear in TR as stationary. For instance, the Urshilaku camp on Vvardenfell is always said to be "nomadic", but the interval it moves would be so slow it would take longer than the game itself to see a difference.
(I don't know. Should I post this here, or on the forum for Falinesti?)

The Bosmer have something called "the green packt" which means that no elf of that race will ever use something a plant made, so i doubt they would have wooden houses. The bosmer live in timber clanhouses

What about bows, crossbows, bolts, and arrows? There are wooden parts on them. Should scripts be used to prevent wood elves to equip them? And furniture? Galbedir has a wooden desk.Asylum wrote:The Bosmer have something called "the green packt" which means that no elf of that race will ever use something a plant made, so i doubt they would have wooden houses.
* goes to look in Hla Oad, Gnaar Mok, Ald Velothi and other shack town whether there are bosmers or not. *

Take it easy, nobody can ignore such a wealth of natural resources, especially wood which is one of the main ones in "medieval" societies, if I may use this term for Tamriel.
Who would be mad enough to live in a vast forest and import wood???
As for the "Pact", the book "A Dance In Fire" describes with great detail the Silvenar palace, which is made of naturally grown plants and is used as much as any palace.
So the "Green Pact" must only be related to extremely significant trees/woods, possibly because of their historical or religious importance.
What is puzzling me though is that no lore exists about the Bosmer religion, except of one god's/godesses'/whatever name:
Baar Dan.
And, Xui'al correctky said that the TES3 engine is not sufficient for such a rebuilt.
I don't want to start a debate here, but, TR will only make Morrowind in the current Gamebryo's version and other province(s) using Oblivion's version, isn't that right?

I was under the impression that they couldn't eat any plants. There is reference to a tower made out of Sap, which is plant made, and their capital is a giant walking tree.Asylum wrote:The Bosmer have something called "the green packt" which means that no elf of that race will ever use something a plant made, so i doubt they would have wooden houses. The bosmer live in timber clanhouses

As far as I know, the green pact means that the Bosmer will not cut down any of the plants of Valenwood. However, they apparently have no prblem with plants outside Valenwood. Also, they still use the trees and can get them to do their bidding in some way, they just can't cut them down.
