Map 3 Claim Request -> 3-21

Post by Arsonide »

Well, it's relatively unimportant (in the grand scheme of things), it's kind of small, it's nice and square, it's relatively flat, and it seems that nobody wants it. Seeing as I'm just starting this (I mean exterior making altogether), these seem like good qualities for a claim. Keep in mind I'm not incompetant, and I will see it through, but I want to contribute as much as I can to Tamriel Rebuilt, and this claim seems like a good transition (learning experience) to bigger and better things.

Ideas for this area:

Well, it's flat, with a tri-crossroad a bit below the center, this seems like a good spot for a small trading outpost (I mean, small.) It looks like there's some gentle hills in the southwest region, possible spot for a dungeon. There's some sparse trees north of the crossroads. Vegetation around the roads, under those sparse trees, and around those gentle hills. This isn't a wow'em off their feet area, nice and smooth. This area's Ireland - the hills (except in the southwest). Sounds simple enough.

EDIT: I just did the landscape tutorial and...either I'm a natural, or people REALLY overrate the difficulty of the editor, because it's easy as heck to use. I know for a fact I could do this claim.

So I ask the powers that be for this claim, and that's all I can do, ask. Rest assured it will be the best plain it can be!

Thank you!

Also where are all the "lore" rules, and rules that all claims should abide by that I keep reading about in posts? They aren't stickied here in this forum, I'll try the others...

Here is the file

The file needs a lot of work and you'll need 3-12 to match up the border.

I JUST noticed I had Dondril, lol I thought I was working from scratch. I guess this is even better just to learn the ropes, I guess I could also do the interiors.

I believe the city will have to be converted into the Indoril style. You can also find 3-15 on the forum and a copy of Old Ebonheart (3-24) on the main page (downloads: Old Claims)

But the interiors will have to wait (this was an old claim which allowed the modder to build interiors).

Now go and make us proud.. :))
If you don't bother with your past history. How do you know where your currently at? It's past what makes us who we are. And who we will be. Ignoring that, is ignoring who we are and where we're going.

Hi Arsonide, and welcome to the group map 3 team, neighbor.

However, I must say I'm a bit confused about the status of claim 3-21 (Dondril). It was included in the combined Map3 download as an approved alpha claim, and I didn't think there was much left to be done on it as an exterior.

I can't remember seeing a thread/posting about it being re-opened. Must have missed that one!

Anyhow, the common border between my 3-15 claim and 3-21 is pretty flat, and matches fine at the moment for land height, textures, etc. Let me know if you're going to make any changes to your western border.

Cheers
Terrez.

Alright no problem, I may mess with the southern side of our border a little, but probably not enough to mess up the border. As far as the alpha goes, it's not in West Gash style, and it's Hlaalu when it's supposed to be Indoril, so I'm wiping the grass off, replacing it with a texture more relative to my eastern neighbor, I haven't seen your side yet, but I'll do that now.

Thanks, A. Bringing it into line lore-wise is the right thing to do.

I noticed that there's been major problems with the north/east borders from Dondril to Noirgim's 3-12 claim, both early on with the available pre-releases and even now with the combined map3 land mass.

I haven't looked at each of the separate ESP's in TESCS, so I'm not sure which claim introduced the problem, but I expect it will be something that will have to be fixed when the mods are merged again.

Also, if you're changing to WG trees you'll notice that there's not a great deal of variety there. I think the BC and MH trees are much better visually, but we're limited by the texture map there.

I'm making further changes to my claim, but the basic land mass, especially the land heights, won't be changing much, unless/until I need to align them to adjacent approved claims.

Cheers
Terrez.

PS. Don't forget to start a new thread for claim 3-21 in the Map 3 forum for your progress reports.
