The "Help Morgoth" Thread

I was wondering about how to make a pattern fill out of an image i've created in Photoshop 7. I can't find any way to save an image as a .PAT, so if anyone can help, i'd be greatful.

Simple, just select the layer (your image) and apply a pattern to it using styles. I might be wrong, ill get a screenie to clarify it.

No, I didn't explain myself well enough. I meant how do I create a new pattern fill out of an image that I already have.

Another patterns question: Is it possible for me to possition my pattern by rotating it in some way after I've already applied it?

Can't you just use edit/transform/rotate and make a new pattern out of the applied one?

n.b. Pressing shift will constrain your rotations and resizing.

Yes, that was the only thought that occured to me, but I figured if there was a short cut... Thanks anyway. :)

And now: what program do I need to open .rar sound files in?

.rar sound files? Rar is a compression format similar to .zip. Use Winrar, or PowerArchiver to open the .rar, and from there your sound files should be sitting happily in the .rar.

Uh, I never needed it before, so I have no idea about what it does. Does WinRar come free with Windows on your pc, or do I have to buy/download it?

You need to DL it. www.rarlabs.com It's 30 day trial but after 30 days you'll just have to close a reminder to register and can continue to use it.

Thanks. Now, new question. Somehow I really screwed my controls in max, and now the little colored directional arrows that show you the XYZ coordinates are gone. Same with the scale and rotate options. When I try to move or scale something I can only move or scale it in one direction. Does anybody who knows max have any idea on how I can get my settings back to normal? I really need to figure this out, as I can't model anything until I do. Thanks.

And yet another! (I'm full of em') How do you change the grid size in max? I have a very short grid on the Y axis, but it goes off into infinity on the X axis. I already tried Customize -> Snap and Grid Settings -> Home Grid but it's not changing. Help?
